Lauren Varone

At the request of the family there will be no formal services for Lauren Varone, 76, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Born March 23, 1923, in Holland, Mrs. Varone died May 11, 1999, in Vacaville.

Mrs. Varone was a homemaker all of her adult life.

Mrs. Varone is survived by her husband, Arthur of Vacaville; daughter, Gisela of Sacramento; brother, Mon Luykx of Holland; and three sisters in Holland.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Julian Mendoza Salinas

A Catholic Prayer Service for Julian Mendoza Salinas, 89, of Fairfield will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born Sept. 22, 1909, in San Antonio, Mr. Salinas died May 11, 1999, in Fairfield.

A resident of Fairfield for seven years, Mr. Salinas previously lived in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He served with the Navy for eight years until 1935. He worked as a merchant sea captain for the Merchant Marine for 46 years, retiring in 1980. He worked for Atlantic Richfield, Stuart Transportation and Citiservice, and loved to garden.

Mr. Salinas is survived by his wife, Edna of Fairfield; daughter, Judith Scally of Fairfield; sons, William of Florida and Julian and Michael, both of Fairfield; sister, Mary Carnot of San Antonio; brother, Bernard Salinas of San Antonio; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Philip John Rashid

A mass of the Resurrection for Philip John Rashid, DDS, 81, of Fairfield will be 7 p.m. Monday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Father Michael Downey of Holy Spirit will officiate. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa, where his parents, Jacob and Saida, are interred.

Born March 14, 1918, in Fort Madison, Iowa, Dr. Rashid died May 13, 1999, in Fairfield.

A resident of Fairfield for the past 47 years, Dr. Rashid operated the first dental practice in Fairfield. He had been in practice for 40 years before he retired in 1975. He was in the Army and Air Force with the rank of captain.

Dr. Rashid spent many weeks each year doing charity surgery for orphans in Mexico, Brazil and the United States. He was a president of the Fairfield-Suisun Fine Arts Council, and judged the Miss America Pageant in 1963. He and his family were featured in Look and Life magazines.

Dr. Rashid held both a bachelor of arts degree and a bachelor of science degree, as well as a master's degree in science and a doctoral degree in dental surgery. He belonged to and participated in numerous associations and was well known for his charitable donations in his church and civic life.

He is survived by his sisters, Johanna Rashid Klibanoff of Fairfield, Rosalyn Wilkerson of Fort Madison, Iowa, Edna Rashid of Toulon of Illinois and Mary Rashid of Fort Madison, Iowa.

A visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Holy Spirit with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Kenneth Corduck Jr.

A mass of Christian burial for Kenneth "Buddy" Raymond Corduck Jr., 50, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Father Michael Downey of Holy Spirit will officiate. Interment with military honors will be at Rockville Cemetery.

Born Feb. 2, 1949, in Woburn, Mass., Mr. Corduck died May 11, 1999, in Fairfield.

Mr. Corduck served in the Air Force for 24 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. He worked as a peace officer at California Medical Facility and retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant.

Mr. Corduck was a loving husband and father who loved nature, history, science fiction, books and strategy games.

He is survived by his wife, Su Phen of Fairfield; daughter, Tamara Rose Corduck of Brighton, Mass.; brothers, Dennis of Woburn, Mass., and Richard of Turlock; and brother and sister-in-law, James and Ellen of Woburn, Mass.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Kern John Wiseman

Funeral services for Kern John Wiseman, 83, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Community United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Vic Matson will officiate. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Oct. 7, 1915, in Wiseman, Ark., Mr. Wiseman died May 15, 1999, in Suisun City.

From 1959 to 1971, Mr. Wiseman owned and operated Hi-Fi Drive-in on West  Texas Street in Fairfield. He founded the Wiseman Realty Co. in 1979 and prior to that had worked for Red Carpet Realty Co. in Fairfield. He loved fishing. He was a member of the Suisun Lodge 55 F&AM, Montezuma Shrine Club, Oakland Scottish Rite, Ben Ali Shrine Temple in Sacramento, Ben Ali Clowns Unit and Community Methodist Church.

Mr. Wiseman is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Doyle and Roney of Mill Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Debbi and Bill Renecke of Davis; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his sons, Donald and Douglas.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Community Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions can be made to Community United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1875 Fairfield Ave., Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Lewis M. Baker

Funeral services will be held in New York for Lewis M. Baker, 76, of Vacaville.

Mr. Baker died May 13, 1999, in Vacaville after a brief illness.

Born June 13, 1922, in Cortland, N.Y., he worked for 23 years as a truck driver for the Loblaws Grocery Chain in New York and moved to Vacaville from New York only a short time ago.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Jackie of Vacaville and Martin and Noreen of Columbus, Tenn.; grandchildren, Ted and his wife, Rose, of New Hampshire, Ken of Vacaville, and Jennifer and Tony Guest of Illinois; great-grandchildren, Josh, Jared, and Jacob Baker of New Hampshire and Leanna Guest of Illinois; brothers, George and Ralph; and sisters, Ruth, Audrey, Betty Jean and Mary, all of New York.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Arrangements are by McGune Garden Chapel.

John William Durkin

Funeral services for John William Durkin, 57, of Suisun will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. After the services, Mr. Durkin will be given military honors at Fairmont Memorial Park. Inurnment will be private.

Born Aug. 20, 1941, in Baltimore, Mr. Durkin died May 13, 1999, at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield after a short illness.

A veteran of the Vietnam and Korean wars, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1978, when he retired as a chief machinist mate.

He then served in the U.S. Merchant Marines from 1979 to 1996, when he retired as chief engineer.

He was a former member of 004 . 0000.00the Moose Lodge in Fairfield. He enjoyed traveling in his recreational vehicle, playing Scrabble and watching football. He also was an avid watcher of CNN.

His is survived by his wife, Mila S. Durkin of Suisun; daughters and sons-in-laws, Annabelle and Bruce Carter of Oakland and Ruby and Fernando Farr of Suisun; sons and daughters-in-law, Roberto and Annie Barrica of Sacramento and Dennis and Elva Barrica of Suisun; mother-in-law, Elena N. Santos; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, with a vigil at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, 4200 Prospect Drive, Carmichael, 95608.

Kirk Lee Hultquist

A memorial service for Kirk Lee Hultquist, 45, of Fairfield will be 4:30 p.m. today at the Fairfield Presbyterian Church.

The Rev. Robert Grove will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Hultquist died May 12, 1999, at VacaValley Hospital following a brief illness.

Born Feb. 21, 1954, on a U.S. military base in Furstenfeldbruck, Germany, he was a musician and composer for 20 years.

A 1972 graduate of Fairfield High School, Mr. Hultquist attended Solano Community College for two years and played with several bands, including Rosewood. He also enjoyed playing golf.

He is survived by his daughter, Kirsten of Vacaville; son, Derek of Vacaville; mother, Harriet of Vacaville; father, Ken Sr.; stepmother, Sandy; sisters, Gail of Rio Linda and Jane Baldrige of Ojai; brother, Kenny Jr. of Maui, Hawaii; stepbrother, Ben Ferneau of Fairfield; and eight nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the donor's favorite charity.

Ray Moss

A memorial service for Ray Moss, 64, of Vacaville, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

Chaplain Keith Knauf will officiate.

Interment will be private.

Born June 24, 1934, in Colorado Springs,  Colo., Mr. Moss died suddenly while vacationing in Southern California May 15, 1999.

He lived in Vacaville for the past 22 years. Prior to that he lived in Davis for 25 years.

He owned a Union 76 gasoline station in Davis. He also owned M&M Radiator of Davis.

He was a past member of the Davis Moose Lodge and 004 . 0000.00the Diablo Bounder RV Club.

He enjoyed traveling in his RV throughout the United States with his wife, Delanne. He also was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife, Delanne of Vacaville; son, Derek of Davis; nieces, Kathleen  Jones of Vacaville and Nancy Beach of Flagstaff, Ariz; nephew, Raymond of Jacksonville, Fla.; and many Colorado cousins.

John A. Gomez

Graveside services for John A. Gomez, 65, of Vacaville will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

The Rev. Benedict DeLeon of St. Mary's Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Gomez died May 16, 1999, in VacaValley Hospital after a sudden illness.

Born Aug. 13, 1993, in Guam, he moved to the area seven years ago. He was employed as a mechanic for Toyota for 20 years.

Mr. Gomez is survived by his wife, Edith of Vacaville; daughters, Tina Gamboa of Stockton and Nina Villagomez of Alameda; son, Joey Villagomez of Oakland; stepchildren, Emily Macagba of Vacaville, Elizabeth Babbitt of Vacaville, John Macagba of San Pablo, Paul Macagba of Vacaville and Ramel Geluz of  West Virginia; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday with a rosary at 7 p.m. in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Florence B. Rogers

A memorial service will be held for Florence B. Rogers, 84, of Castro Valley, 10 a.m. Saturday at the Valley Mortuary, 20359 Lake Chabot Road, Castro Valley.

Mrs. Rogers will be buried at the Rockville Cemetery in Suisun in a private ceremony.

Born in Vallejo, Mrs. Rogers later lived in Vacaville.

She is survived by her sisters, Katherine Simons and Frances Daudlin of Castro Valley; an aunt and many nieces and nephews.

Donations should be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
