Rawlvan Bennett

Funeral services for Rawlvan Bennett, 69, of Suisun City will be Friday at Solano Valley Mortuary. Burial will be at Rockville Cemetery.

Born June 4, 1930, in El Campo,  Texas, Mr. Bennett died June 6, 1999, at NorthBay Medical Center.

A resident of Suisun City for 37 years, Mr. Bennett was a vehicle operator at Travis Air Force Base for 26 years.

He is survived by his wife, Reba of Suisun City; daughter, Brita Bennett-Leder of Denver; sons, Rawlvan of Atlanta and Renwick of Phoenix; sisters, Leola Zerlee; brother, Namen; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

Josephine Gardiner

A Catholic Mass for Josephine Gardiner, 73, of Fairfield will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Burial will be in Fairfield-Suisun Cemetery.

Mrs. Gardiner died June 8, 1999, in her home after a short illness.

Born Nov. 16, 1925, in San Francisco, she lived in Fairfield 73 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Church, SPRSI and YLI.

Mrs. Gardiner is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ron Lahmon of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Lonna of Vacaville; daughter-in-law, Trudy of Vacaville; sisters, Frances Lozano of Fairfield; brothers, Alfred Serrano of Fairfield, Henry Serrano and Manuel Funez, both of Tracy; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Walter.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Arrangements are by Fairfield Funeral Home.

Lois Marie Phillips

There will be no formal services for Lois Marie Phillips, 76, of Vacaville at her request. Private entombment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mrs. Phillips died June 7, 1999, in Laurel Creek Convalescent Hospital.

Born Dec. 20, 1922, in Fargo, N.D., she lived in Solano County for 36 years. She was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Phillips loved sewing, crafts, computers and needlework.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and John Timbur of Vacaville; sister, Phyllis Kelley of Fargo; grandchildren, Phillip and Laura Timbur of Vacaville. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1985.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1652 West  Texas St., Ste. 110, Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Rawlvan Bennett

Funeral services for Rawlvan Bennett, 69, of Suisun City will be 2 p.m. today at Solano Valley Mortuary. Burial will be at Rockville Cemetery.

Fredrick Dale Waddell

Services for Fredrick Dale Waddell, 54, of Pleasanton were held June 4 in McCune Garden Chapel. Interment is at Golden Gate National Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Waddell died May 28, 1999, in Pleasanton after a sudden illness.

Born Aug. 5, 1944, in Gotten, Conn., he lived in Pleasanton for 10 years. He worked for the past 12 years at the Budget Inn in Pleasanton.

Mr. Waddell enjoyed reading and watching TV.

Mr. Waddell is survived by his mother, Virginia Pittenger of Vacaville; brother, John of Wichita, Kan.; sisters, Beverly Stround of  Louisiana and Carol Anne of Eugene, Ore.; and many friends, nieces and nephews.

Vonda 'Rosie' Wright

Funeral services for Vonda "Rosie" Wright, 65, of Hayward will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Tate Mortuary in Toole, Utah.

Ronald Bateman will officiate. Interment will be at Toole City Cemetery.

Born April 24, 1934, in Fairview, Utah, Mrs. Wright died June 5, 1999, at NorthBay Medical Center.

A resident of Vacaville for 24 years, Mrs. Wright was a noontime supervisor at Willis Jepson Middle School.

Mrs. Wright is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Rick Smith of Hayward; daughter, Melody Wright of Rio Vista; sons, Robert of Vacaville and Kenny of Austin,  Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Dave Alan and Marie Wright of Cincinnati; sister, Norma Christinsen of St. George, Utah; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Norman W. Leu

Funeral services for Norman W. Leu, 76, of Vacaville will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Chaplain George Dawson of the Air Force will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born March 15, 1923, in Fond du Lac, Wis., Mr. Leu died June 9, 1999, at VacaValley Hospital.

A Vacaville and Solano County resident for 41 years. Mr. Leu served in the Air Force for 21 years and then worked as a letter carrier for the Postal Service in Vacaville for 20 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 134 in Vacaville. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, camping and bowling.

Mr. Leu is survived by his wife of 55 years, Geraldine of Vacaville; sons, Michael, Norman and James, all of Vacaville; daughters, Karen Harper and Cynthia, both of Vacaville; sister, Phyllis Thayer of Oshkosh, Wis.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.

Cleo Patton

Cleo Patton, who was hired in 1968 as Fairfield's first black police officer, died June 9, 1999, at his home in Fairfield.

Mr. Patton, 61, served the city of Fairfield and gained the respect of residents, fellow officers and city leaders before retiring in 1982.

Born Nov. 29, 1937, in Martinsville,  Texas, Mr. Patton served in the Air Force.

Mr. Patton is survived by his wife, Lorine of Fairfield; daughters, Margie Nell Trotter of Martinez and Sharon Renee Butler of Sacramento; and son and daughter-in-law, Tony Bernard and Barbara Patton.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at True Love Baptist Church. Joseph Prudhomme will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Solano Valley Mortuary.

L.G. 'Muggs' Schroeder

Funeral services for L.G. "Muggs" Schroeder, 77, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Dixon United Methodist Church.

Burial will be at Silveyville Cemetery.

Mr. Schroeder died June 10, 1999, at his home following a lengthy illness.

Born Jan. 28, 1922, in Mountain Lake, Minn., he had lived in Dixon for the past 46 years.

Mr. Schroeder was a World War II veteran who proudly served with the Seabees in the South Pacific. He was vice president of the W.M. Lynch Co. of Dixon for 40 years and following his retirement had continued in the field of construction through his consulting business, Schroeder and Co.

He was a pioneer in the use of cast-in-place pipe, and because of his overall construction experience and technical knowledge, his advice was sought out by and used by both academics and construction field personnel. Most recently he was contracted by the city of Dixon as inspector for the North First Street Assessment District project.

He was a member of the Dixon United Methodist Church, Dixon Lions Club, American Legion, VFW and Moose Lodge. He served on the Dixon Planning Commission, Traffic Study Committee and the Solano County grand jury. He also served for many years and was a driving force with the Downtown Dixon Beautification Committee.

In 1990, Mr. Schroeder and his wife, Tim, were honored as Dixon's citizens of the year for their continued service and dedication to the community. He had spearheaded the Christmas Tree Lighting project for downtown Dixon and helping with fund-raising, electrical, installation and post-season storage of the lights.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Tim; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cynthia of Mesa, Ariz.; and grandchildren, Eric and Michelle of Mesa. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorials go to Yolo Hospice or the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Lestor L. Wilson

Funeral services for Lestor L. Wilson, 87, of Vacaville will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McCune Garden Chapel. Interment will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born April 11, 1912, in Tecumseh, Okla., Mrs. Wilson died June 11, 1999, at her home.

Mrs. Wilson worked at and managed Elmira Grocery for 20 years and was secretary for the Elmira Improvement Club. She taught Sunday school, enjoyed gardening, cooking and crocheting. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her daughters, Linda Cappel and Jo Mclain, both of Vacaville; sister, Derotha McLain of Shawnee, Okla.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, all of Vacaville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be at noon Tuesday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to Kaiser Hospice of Vallejo, 275 Sereno Drive, Vallejo.

Gerthie Lee Crone

Funeral services for Gerthie Lee Crone, 78, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Pastor Glen Gree of the Church of God in Fairfield will officiate. Burial will be in Fairfield-Suisun Cemetery.

Mrs. Crone died June 8, 1999, at NorthBay Medical Center following a long illness.

Born May 14, 1921, in Cushing,  Texas, she had lived in Fairfield for 55 years.

Mrs. Crone had been a homemaker for 62 years and enjoyed gardening and church work. She was a member of the Church of God in Fairfield.

She is survived by her son, Allen Ray Crone of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Jo Crone of Williamsburg, Va.; sisters, Gertie Mashburn, Pearl Ferry and Carolyn Connell, all of Fairfield; brothers, Woodrow Copeland and Elmer Copeland, both of Fairfield; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Raymond Dietz

Funeral services for Raymond Dietz, 79, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church.

The Rev. Martin Bergstrom will officiate. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Oct. 12, 1919, in Wakeeney, Kan., Mr. Dietz died June 9, 1999, at David Grant Medical Center.

A resident of Fairfield for 31 years, Mr. Dietz served in the military from 1942 to 1969 and served in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired as a master sergeant from Travis Air Force Base.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and spent many hours volunteering at the church by cutting the lawn and doing other activities. He was an avid sports fan, loving father and grandfather.

Mr. Dietz is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Norma of Baltimore; daughter, Judy Lee of Iowa; sisters, Marie Krug of Oakley, Kan.; Freda Deines of Wakeeney; sister and brother-in-law, Hilda and Joe Mlinek of St. Francis, Kan.; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Helen of Goodland, Kan.; grandchildren, Kevin and Korey Dietz of Baltimore; and close companion, Nancy Gates of Fairfield.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
