Eleanor Schaefer

Funeral services for Eleanor Schaefer, 63, of Raleigh, N.C., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Vacaville.

Born Nov. 2, 1936, in Beulaville, N.C., Mrs. Schaefer died May 30, 1999, in Raleigh, N.C.

Mrs. Schaefer is survived by her daughters, Shirley Stone and Sandra Burgess, both of Hollister; grandchildren, Christopher Stone, Elizabeth Stone, Joseph Burgess and Valerie Burgess of Hollister, and Charles Jr., Andrew and Sara of Susanville.

Mrs. Schaefer was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; and son, Charles.

Colonel Warren R. Healy

Graveside services with full military honors for Colonel Warren R. Healy, 79, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Friday in San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.

Mr. Healy died June 21, 1999, at David Grant Medical Center after an illness.

Born Dec. 4, 1919, in San Francisco, he lived in Fairfield for two years. In addition to being a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, Mr. Healy was an assistant chief of staff for the U.S. Air Force for 26 1/2 years. He was a member of the Northern California Retired Officers Association and the Marines Memorial Club in San Francisco and was a University of California, Berkeley alumnus. He was a third generation Californian who was born and raised in San Francisco before moving to Fairfield.

Mr. Healy is survived by his wife, Mildred of Fairfield; daughters, Candace Starr of Fountain Valley and Gail Cusack of Pebble Beach; sons, Craig and Scott, both of Hayward; sister, Carol Christiansen of Piedmont and four grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Fairfield Funeral Home, Fairfield.

Doyle Price

Funeral services for Doyle Price, 77, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel. Masonic services will follow.

The Rev. Vic Jenkins of Unity Church of the Valley will preside. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Price died June 19, 1999, in David Grant Medical Center after a lengthy battle with leukemia.

Born Oct. 23, 1921, in Bokoshe, Okla., he was a Vacaville and Solano County resident for more than 30 years. He retired as a chief master sergeant after serving 27 years with the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Price was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 134 of Vacaville, past worthy patron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Vacaville, past member of the Vacaville Moose Lodge, member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans of Vacaville and a full-time volunteer at David Grant Medical Center for the past seven years.

He was named volunteer of the year for David Grant Medical Center for the last two years.

Mr. Price enjoyed working with wood and was a master craftsman who loved the outdoors, traveling, storytelling and playing poker and cribbage.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Doylene and Frank Dye of Hermiston, Ore., and Patti and Bob Edgar of San Antonio,  Texas; daughter, Trudy of Vacaville; son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Helen of Vacaville; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene in 1975, and a son, Frank in 1970.

The family expressly requests that contributions be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 323 Geary St., Room 714, San Francisco, 94102, or a charity of the donor's choice.

David S. Samson

Funeral services for David S. Samson, 58, of Fairfield will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born Jan. 7, 1941, in St. Albans, Vt., Mr. Samson died June 23, 1999, in Fairfield.

A resident of Fairfield for 22 years, Mr. Samson worked for Pacer International in Lafayette for 20 years. He served in the Navy from 1961 to 1967 as a lieutenant junior grade and served on the USS Boston and in the Philippines. He was a member of Holy Spirit Church, past president of Fairfield Seahorse Swim Team, a loving husband and father.

Mr. Samson is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, David and Angela of Berkeley; daughters, Jennifer Samson of New Jersey, Alyson Samson of Fairfield; brothers, Robert and Stephen Samson both of Vermont; mother, Leona Samson of Vermont; sister, Mary Samson of Vermont; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Helen McCrory Shipp

Helen McCrory Shipp, a 1922 graduate of Vacaville High School and member of a local pioneer family, died Monday at her home in Vacaville. She was 94.

Mrs. Shipp was born Feb. 21, 1905, in Eureka, one of three children to Robert and Bertha Carson McCrory.

Mrs. Shipp's grandfather, James McCrory, settled in Suisun City in September 1853 and was a rancher.

After receiving a diploma from Vacaville High School as one of 24 graduates, Mrs. Shipp attended Heald Business School in 1924. She then worked as an officer of the Mechanics & Merchants bank in Vallejo. She also worked at the Bank of Italy and was assistant manager at the Travis Air Force Base branch of Bank of America until her retirement in 1970.

Mrs. Shipp is survived by numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at McCune Garden Chapel. Chaplain W.C. Barnes will officiate.

Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel.

Robert 'Bob' Davis

A Catholic prayer service for Robert "Bob" Davis, 78, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Father Vincent O'Reilly will officiate. Interment will be at Lodi Memorial park at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Born Aug. 24, 1920, in Watertown, N.Y., Mr. Davis died June 24, 1999, in Vallejo.

A resident of Vacaville since 1994, Mr. Davis worked for General Electric Co. during World War II and was sent to England to bring back the jet engine. He then worked to develop the engine for the United States.

After leaving GE, he worked for General Motors Corp., where he received a certificate for being one of the top 10 Cadillac mechanics in the country. He worked for Cadillac for 47 years as a troubleshooter, service manager and mechanic. He also worked as a service manager for McKnevin Cadillac in Berkeley from 1962 to 1989.

Mr. Davis was a member of Chapter 13 of Widowed Persons Association of California, 1546 Machinists Automotive Union and the Vacaville Moose Lodge.

Mr. Davis is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Roger Lenker of San Pablo; son, Richard of Seattle; brother, Raymond of Potter, Neb.; grandchildren, Ron Lenker of Vacaville, Stephen Lenker of San Pablo and Terry of Seattle; three great-granddaughters; and longtime companion, Fay Knous of Vacaville. Mr. Davis was preceded in death in 1996 by his wife of 52 years, Marie.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Claudia Joan Fontenot

Services for Claudia Joan Fontenot, 62, of Richmond will be private.

Born June 23, 1937, in San Bernadino, Ms. Fontenot died June 23, 1999, in Richmond.

Ms. Fontenot worked for Safeway Stores Inc. in Fremont as a master scheduler, setting up truck routing. She also worked for the Vacaville Tele-center for one year, Kaiser Hospital in Oakland and Chevron in San Ramon.

She was a member of Mensa and Teamsters Local 490 of Vallejo. She enjoyed traveling, watching and collecting classic movies and spending time with her family.

Ms. Fontenot is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Frances Burns of Suisun City; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Ed Williams of Vacaville; granddaughters, Angelina, Ana and Andrea Burns of Suisun City and Christina Williams of Vacaville; and great-grandchildren, Alexandria,  Taylor and Dominic Burns, all of Suisun City.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.

Teresa B. Lozano

A Mass of Christian burial for Teresa B. Lozano, 91, of Dixon will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church.

Father Maurice O'Brien of St. Peter's will officiate. Interment will be at Silveyville Cemetery.

Born Oct. 25, 1907, in Jalisco, Mexico, Mrs. Lozano died June 25, 1999, in Davis.

Mrs. Lozano worked for a cannery in Davis for 11 years.

She is survived by her sons, Rudy, Joe and Mike, all of Dixon, Tony and Alfonso Sanchez, both of Mexico, and Manuel of Arizona; daughters, Emily of Dixon, Rachel Garcia of Los Angeles, Ester Coronado of Calexico, Abigail Olea of Sacramento and Josephine Lanzarin of San Francisco; 47 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Maria Garcia Martinez

A Mass of the Resurrection for Maria Garcia Martinez, 88, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Father Eugenio Lopez will officiate. Entombment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born June 19, 1910, in La Mela, Almeria, Spain, Ms. Martinez died June 24, 1999, at her home.

Ms. Martinez worked for Basic Vegetable Co. for 10 years and enjoyed crocheting and cooking. Ms. Martinez and her husband, Manueal, moved to Yakima, Wash., in 1947 before moving to Vacaville in 1959. For the past three years, Arminda Rosales had been caring for Ms. Martinez.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Diego and Gloria of Vacaville; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Cecil Foster of Lancaster and Francis and Martin Vicondoa of Vacaville; grandsons, Jimmy and Bill; granddaughters, Aimee, Carrie Foster and Vanessa Vicondoa; one brother; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Nadeau Family Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Ernest J. 'E.J.' Moore

Funeral services for Ernest J. "E.J." Moore, 79, of Suisun City will be 2 p.m. Monday.

The Rev. O.C. Cooper of Suisun City's Calvary Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Entombment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park, Fairfield.

Mr. Moore died June 24, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.

Born March 1, 1920, in Canton, Miss., Mr. Moore served in the Army and was a World War II veteran. He was a maintenance worker for 17 years for the city of Suisun, retiring in 1976.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Hattie; daughters, Shirley King of Suisun City and Eba and Pallie, both of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Walter Smith of Fairfield; sons, Steven of Fairfield and Arthur King, John and Ernest Jr., all of Suisun City; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m. Monday in Fairmont Memorial Chapel in Fairfield.

Richard Allan Smith

Funeral sevices for Richard Allan Smith, 42, of Hayward will be 11 a.m. Monday in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2700 Camrose Drive, Fairfield.

Gary Long, second counselor to Bishop LeCheminant, will officiate. Burial will be private and held in Fresno Memorial Gardens, Fresno.

Mr. Smith died June 22, 1999, in Eureka after sudden illness.

Born Jan. 3, 1957, in Fresno, Mr. Smith was a Fresno High School graduate. He worked in the telecommunications field for 20 years and enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, traveling and watching the Oakland Raiders.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Tammie; daughters, Alyssa Dennis of Hayward, Kimberlee Ann Dennis of San Diego and Jaclyn of Fresno; sons, Brandon and Jeremy, both of Fresno; brothers, John and Jeff, both of Fresno; and 2 grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10:30 to 11 a.m. Monday in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fairfield.
