Albert Klotz

At his request, there will be no formal services for Albert Klotz, 98, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Born March 30, 1901, in Bellingham, Wash., Mr. Klotz died June 22, 1999, in Vacaville.

A resident of Vacaville and Solano County for 78 years, Mr. Klotz owned and operated Al Klotz Garage for 27 years. It later became Al Klotz Auto Parts.

Mr. Klotz is survived by his sons, Randolph and Ronnie of Vacaville and Rollie of Los Angeles; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.

Helen E. Vallero

Funeral services for Helen E. Vallero, 76, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fairfield Funeral Home. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born July 25, 1922, in Oakland, Mrs. Vallero died June 25, 1999, in Fairfield.

A homemaker, Mrs. Vallero belonged to the Fairfield Senior Center.

She is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Pratt of Los Molinas, Donna Stocking of Pleasant Hill, JoAnne Stratton of Rough and Ready and Shirley Brewer of Hanford; sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Davis of Fairfield; brother, Charles Venning of Redding; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fairfield Funeral Home.

William Bobetsky

Funeral services for William Bobetsky, 82, of Vacaville will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Passalacqua Funeral Chapel in Benicia.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Passalacqua mortuary. Burial will be private.

Born Nov. 7, 1916, in New York City, Mr. Bobetsky died June 26, 1999, in Concord after a brief illness.

He served as an Army captain Army in World War II.

He was a self-employed advertising art director for several New York ad agencies before retiring in 1978.

His hobbies included painting outdoor scenes. He also was an avid 49er football fan.

Mr. Bobetsky is survived by his wife of 54 years, June of Vacaville; daughter, Linda of  Pennsylvania; son, Bill of Benicia; brother, Victor of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Donations can be made to the American Lung Association.

Loretta Shirley Jones

Funeral services for Loretta Shirley Jones, 64, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Solano Valley Mortuary.

The Rev. Claybon Lea Jr. of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Suisun will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Solano Valley Mortuary.

A private service will be held for Mrs.  Jones in Frederick, Md.

Born Jan. 6, 1935, in Bartonsville, Md., Mrs.  Jones died June 23, 1999, at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base.

Mrs.  Jones was a homemaker and lived in Fairfield for the past 28 years.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Louis Tyler, and brother, Earl M. Collins, of Frederick, Md.

She is survived by her husband, Ben Shealy Jr.; sons, Michael of San Juan Capistrano, Dale of Colorado Springs,  Colo., Stephen of Wichita Falls,  Texas, and Ronald of Casa Grande, Ariz.; father, Sherdan F. Collins; sisters, Alice A. Buchanan of Frederick, Md., and Evonne Stanton of Virginia Beach, Va.

Maria Garcia Martinez

A Mass of the Resurrection for Maria Garcia Martinez, 88, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Father Eugenio Lopez will officiate. Entombment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born June 29, 1910, in La Mela, Almeria, Spain, Mrs. Martinez died June 24, 1999, at her home.

Mrs. Martinez worked for Basic Vegetable Co. for 10 years and enjoyed crocheting and cooking. Mrs. Martinez and her husband, Manuel, moved to Yakima, Wash., in 1947 and moved to Vacaville in 1959. For the past three years, Arminda Rosales had been caring for Mrs. Martinez.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Diego and Gloria Martinez of Vacaville; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Cecil Foster of Lancaster and Francie and Martin Vicondoa of Vacaville; grandsons, Jimmy and Bill Martinez; granddaughters, Aimee, Carrie Foster and Vanessa Vicondoa; one brother; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Nadeau Family Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Phyllis L. McGrath

Funeral services for Phyllis L. McGrath, 69, of Vacaville, were held in Portsmouth, N.H.

Mrs. McGrath was buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Greenland, N.H.

Born Oct. 20, 1929, in Brockton, Mass., Mrs. McGrath died June 22, 1999, at the La Mariposa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fairfield.

She had been a member of the Church of Christ in Kittery, Maine, before moving to California.

She was a loving and supportive mother and grandmother who also shared her love with many others.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Southard O'Brien and Patty Robinson, both of Vacaville, and Barbara Cullen of Newburg, Ind.; sons, Arthur Southard of Lowell, Mass., and Donald McGrath of Portsmouth; sisters, Jenni Davis of California and Barbara Kluesner of New Jersey; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; and parents, Arthur and Jenni Southard.

Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave. Suite 1000, Chicago, Ill., 60611.

Otis Boyd

Funeral services with full military honors for Otis Boyd, 69, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Fairmont Memorial Park Chapel, 1901 Union Ave.

The Revs. Johnny L. Williams of Curry Temple CME Church in Vacaville and Governor  Johnson of St. Andrew Baptist Church in San Francisco will officiate.

Entombment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mr. Boyd died June 28, 1999, in Fairfield following a long illness.

Born May 30, 1930, in  South Carolina, he had lived in Fairfield for 27 years.

He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in Korea and Vietnam. He retired in 1968 as a technical sergeant.

Mr. Boyd owned and operated an upholstery business, Domestic Repair, in Suisun Cityfor 20 years and was a past member of the Kiwanis Club. His interests included raising homing pigeons, hunting and fishing. While stationed in Okinawa, he played the saxophone in the Air Force Band.

Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Nobuko of Fairfield; daughters, Anita J. Thompson of Yuba City and Sandra of Burlingame; a brother, James Pitt of Santa Rosa; aunts, Mary Davenport, Rose Lee Sturkey and Annie Lee Tate, all of  South Carolina; and an uncle, Ernest of San Francisco.

Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Fairmont Memorial Park Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 1591, Suisun City, 94585.

James P. Rendleman

Funeral services for James P. Rendleman, 60, of Hayward will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Crossroads Christian Church in Vacaville. Associate Pastor Bruce Gallaher will officiate. Burial will be private at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born June 26, 1939, in Metopolis, Ind., Mr. Rendleman died June 27, 1999, the victim of a homicide.

Mr. Rendleman worked as a machinist at Mare Island Naval Shipyard and was a loving father and grandfather.

Mr. Rendleman is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Roy Powell of Vallejo, Kristen and Perence Hall of Hayward, Pamela Kay and Tim Hurst of Vacaville, Gwenda Sue and David Ball of Reno and Kathy Lynn and John Christopherson of Spencer, Iowa; parents, James and Katherine Rendleman of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Patrick  Johnson of San Jose and Patricia and Robert Thomas of Carson City; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Rendleman.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

David Allen Smith

Funeral services for David Allen Smith, 48, of Suisun City will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. Pastor Jerry Hubbard of Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Vallejo will preside.

Interment will follow in Rockville Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died June 26, 1999, at his Suisun City home following a sudden illness.

Born Nov. 22, 1950, in Yakima, Wash., he had lived in Suisun City for 11 years.

Mr. Smith was a graduate of Laney College in Oakland and had been employed with Bay Area Rapid Transit in Oakland for the past 24 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Suisun City; sons, Lance and DaAngelo, both of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Davida of San Leandro, Tiffany Wynn of Suisun City and Rachelle  Johnson of Oakland; his father, Joe Sr. of Oakland; brothers, Robert and Joe Jr., both of Oakland; sisters, Maxine and Shirley A. McWilliams, both of Oakland and Beatrice of Chowchilla; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Virginia A. Maupin

Funeral services for Virginia A. Maupin, 83, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Friday at Rockville Cemetery. Burial will be in Mountain Ranch Cemetery in Calaveras County.

Mrs. Maupin died June 21, 1999, in Sunrise Care Center in Vallejo after a long illness.

Born June 10, 1916, in Miami, Okla., she lived in Fairfield for 31 years. She worked as a retail clerk at the Home Bakery in Vallejo and at the Raley's bakery in Fairfield. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Vacaville and enjoyed painting china.

Mrs. Maupin is survived by a niece, Carole Cote of Pine Grove; a nephew, Ronald E. Gilbreath of Vallejo; great-nieces, Tina Sweeney of Suisun City and Jennifer Munn of Dixon; great-nephew, Todd Cakus of Fairfield and brother-in-law, Ronald R. Gilbreath of Napa.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, Fairfield.

Jack Edward McCalmon

Funeral services for Jack Edward McCalmon, 52, of Muscatine, Iowa, will be held Friday in Muscatine.

Born March 9, 1947, in Fairfield, Mr. McCalmon died June 27, 1999, in Iowa from injuries stemming from a motorcycle accident.

A 1966 graduate of Vacaville High School, Mr. McCalmon lived in Vacaville from 1957 to the late 1980s, when he moved to Iowa. In 1966, he joined the Marine Corps and served until 1972. He did one tour in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart while on duty. He worked at HON Industries in Muscatine as a painter.

Mr. McCalmon loved his country and the people who served it and was active in the Vietnam Veterans Chapter in Muscatine. He loved fishing, treasure hunting, motorcycle traveling and the outdoors. He was a loving husband, the father of four and a grandfather of five.

Mr. McCalmon is survived by his wife, Lynn, of Muscatine; daughters, Savanna of Muscatine and Vicky Tiffany of Hanford; sons, Josh of Muscatine and Jack Jr. of Los Angeles; father, Edgar, of Placerville; stepmother, Merle of Placerville; brothers, James of Oregon, Michael and Ed of Vacaville and Rodgar of Fairfield; and sister, Brenda Kelley of Vacaville.

Memorial contributions can be made to either the Vacaville or the Muscatine chapter of Vietnam Veterans.

Gene E. Shipps

Upon his request, there will be no funeral services for Gene E. Shipps, 69, of Fairfield. Inurnment will be private.

Born Dec. 24, 1929, in Exeter, Neb., Mr. Shipps died June 29, 1999, at his home.

Mr. Shipps served in the Air Force for 26 years after enlisting in the Air National Guard. He retired in 1976 as a major. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge No. 861. He graduated from officers' candidate school in 1956 and served in Vietnam.

Mr. Shipps is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Fairfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Katie and Charlie Schuerman of Colville, Wash. and Judy and Paul Fein of Dublin; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Cecelia of Vacaville; grandchildren, Jason and Jon Fein of San Diego and Laura, Brian and Kenny of Vacaville; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to Fisher House at Travis Air Force Base.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fairfield Funeral Home.
