Charles A. Ritchey

Funeral for Charles A. Ritchey, 75, of Vacaville will be at 10 a.m. Friday at McCune Garden Chapel. Earl Brown will officiate, and inurnment will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Oct. 3, 1923, in Isabel, Pa., Mr. Ritchey died July 2, 1999, in Vacaville.

A 26-year resident of Vacaville, he retired from Basic Vegetable Products after 26 years. He was a member of AARP, the National Rifle Association and the American Legion. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and traveling.

Mr. Ritchey is survived by his daughters, Sue M. Robinson of North Carolina and Lena Brewer of Vacaville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death in 1993 by his wife, Lena.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa, 95402.

Florentino P. Ruiz

Services will be private for Florentino P. Ruiz, 62, of Fairfield. Disposition will be in the Philippines.

Born Sept. 15, 1936, in the Philippines, Mr. Ruiz died July 3, 1999, at David Grant Medical Center.

Mr. Ruiz was a caretaker for Travis Air Force Base's Army Air Force Exchange Service.

Mr. Ruiz is survived by his wife, Rogeria of Fairfield; son, Nelz of England; grandchild, Gian of England.

Arrangements are under the direction of Solano Valley Mortuary.

Arthur James Graff

A memorial service for Arthur James Graff, 79, of Magalia will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Chapel at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno.

The Rev. Michael Morizono will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Graff died July 4, 1999, in David Grant Medical Center after a short illness.

Born April 2, 1920, in St. Louis, he lived in Magalia for 24 years. He was raised in San Francisco, attended Samuel Gompers School in San Francisco and Stanford University until he was drafted into the service. He served in North Africa and Germany, attended various schools in the Air Force and served as an electronics instructor. He retired from the Air Force in 1963 as a major.

He then worked as an electronics engineer for the IBEW Local 617 in San Mateo. He also worked for Bechtel Corp. in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. He was a member of the Airplane Owners & Pilots Association, the Los Conquistadores RV group and the Northern California Cortez Club.

Mr. Graff enjoyed golf and remote-control airplanes.

Mr. Graff is survived by his wife, Doris of Magalia; daughter, Sharryn of Campbell; son, Garry of Alabama; stepdaughter, Jo An Graf of San Bruno; stepsons, Michael Hinkson of South San Francisco, Howard Hinkson of San Bruno and Hyatt Hinkson of Fremont; daughter-in-law, Terrie Hillyer of Pacifica; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul, who died in the Vietnam War.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hanna Boys Center, P.O. Box 100, Sonoma, 95476; The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 3157, Fairfield, 94533; or the local donor's office of the Salvation Army.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Frances Kathleen Jehle

Services for Frances Kathleen Burton Jehle, 80, of Vacaville were held Wednesday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Minister Burt Bram of Maranatha Christian Fellowship Center of Vacaville officiated. Interment was private.

Born to John Calvin Burton and Elizabeth Clay Burton on Sept. 6, 1918, in Napa, Mrs. Jehle died June 30, 1999, in Vacaville.

A Vacaville resident for the past 13 years, Mrs. Jehle worked in the electronics business for many years before retiring. For the last few years, she was a resident of Vacaville Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center. She was an excellent seamstress.

Mrs. Jehle is survived by her daughter, Wendy Louise Peet of Vacaville; sons, Davis Leigh Carpenter of Lake Concoolly, Wash., and Michael Douglas Carpenter of Valencia; sisters, Dail Medan of Newport, Ore., and Jesse Claussen of Napa; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Bennie 'Ben' L. Kane

There will be no formal services held for Bennie "Ben" L. Kane, 73, of Vacaville.

Friends and family may pay their last respects at 6 p.m. Monday at Vaca Hills Chapel. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Kane died peacefully in his sleep in Fairfield on July 9, 1999, after a long illness.

Born Dec. 28, 1925, in Polo, Ill., he lived in Vacaville for 35 years. He moved his family to Vacaville from Rock Falls, Ill., where he spent 13 years as a police officer and constable, being promoted to the rank of lieutenant. He missed law enforcement and became a correctional officer at the state prison in Vacaville, where he retired in 1981.

Mr. Kane was a decorated World War II Navy veteran, having been awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in combat while serving in the Pacific.

Mr. Kane was an avid bowler and very active in the bowling community. He organized the Black Shirt Bowlers Club of Vacaville and founded the NorCal 79ers Bowling Tour in the mid-'70s.

He was secretary of the Vaca Employees League for 30 years, receiving Secretary of the Year honors for the 1989-90 season. His contributions and dedication led to his induction into the American Bowling Congress Hall of Fame in 1991.

Mr. Kane is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dotty of Vacaville; sister, Thelma Eads of Milledgeville, Ill.; brothers, Keith and Roy of Polo, Ill.; sons and daughter-in-laws, Dennis and Kathy, Bob and Brenda and Max and Sun, all of Vacaville; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Walter John 'Mac' McEwen

Memorial services for Walter John "Mac" McEwen, 80, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Sunday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. At the request of the deceased, his remains will be scattered at sea.

Mr. McEwen died July 6, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a long illness.

Born July 21, 1918, in Coquille, Ore., he lived in Fairfield for 27 years. He served in the Army for five years and served under Gen. George Patton in Europe. He served four years in the Navy in Korea and worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo for 30 years as a rigger. He retired in 1972.

Mr. McEwen was a member of the Fairfield Senior Center and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. in Vallejo.

Mr. McEwen is survived by his wife, Dee of Fairfield; sons, Johnny of Vallejo and Jack of Shasta City; stepdaughters, Patricia Shoulders of Fairfield, Jean Dull of Redding, Joan Thorpe of Colorado and Diana Perazzo of Shingletown; stepsons, Raymond Dull of North Carolina, James Dull of Maple Falls, Wash., and Gary Allen Dull of Oregon; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Anna Elizabeth 'Libby' Schultz

Services for Anna Elizabeth "Libby" Schultz, 76, of Grants Pass, Ore., were held Wednesday.

Mrs. Schultz died July 5, 1999, at her home.

Born May 10, 1923, in Kansas City, Kan., she resided in Grants Pass. She worked for Ralph's Supermarket as a butcher for 23 years. She was a member and secretary of the Grants Pass Friendship Club.

Mrs. Schultz enjoyed sewing, traveling, dancing and shopping.

Mrs. Schultz is survived by her husband, Duaine of Grants Pass; daughters, Christine Wilson of Saugas, Cheryl Foster of Redding, Marsha Powel of Veradale, Wash., Peggy Wilson of Fairfield and Lisa Felce of Forest Grove, British Columbia, Canada; sons, Skeeter McKitterick of Spokane, Wash., Dale McKitterick of Henderson, Nev., Duaine K. of Libby, Mont., and Barry of Dixon; many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Contributions can be made to the hospice of the donor's choice.

Arrangements were made by Lundberg's L.B. Hall Funeral Home.

Harry Van Beenen

Services for Harry Van Beenen, 82, of Fairfield will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fairfield.

Bishop Anthony Young will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood Hills. Ron Yancey will dedicate the grave Friday.

Born Jan. 1, 1917, in Rochester, N.Y., Mr. Van Beenen died July 8, 1999, in Roseville.

A resident of Fairfield for 18 years, Mr. Van Beenen was a veteran of World War II, serving from 1940 to 1945 as a technical sergeant. He was a services representative for Southern California Gas Co. for 30 years before retiring in 1979. He was an avid golfer.

Mr. Van Beenen is survived by his wife, Erma of Fairfield; daughters, Deana Woolley of Burbank, Linda Bender of Roseville, and Nadine LeRoy of Medford, Ore.; son, Tom Woolley of Santa Fe, N.M.; brother, Frank Van Beenen of Perris; sister, Jeanette DeVries of Port Charlotte, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2700 Camrose Drive, Fairfield.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1652 W.  Texas St., Suite 110, Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Thomas J. Morgan

No services are planned for Thomas J. Morgan, 72, of Loomis. Burial will be at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Nevada City.

Born Feb. 28, 1927, in Tulsa, Okla., Mr. Morgan died July 7, 1999, in Loomis.

Mr. Morgan served in the Army and worked at McClellan Air Force base for 37 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed restoring old tractors and spending time with his family.

Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife, Mary of Loomis; daughters, Jeannine Walser of Dixon, Susan Fasig of Roseville and Joy Lewis of Meridian, Ind.; sons, Jon of Billings, Mont., and Mark of Grand Junction,  Colo.; brothers, Ralph, Ronald and Donald; sisters, Mary Lou Shoup and Peggy; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Kimberly Ann Stewart.

Memorial contributions can be made to the University of California, Alzheimer's Research Program, or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary Inc.

Alice Kirkorian

Funeral for Alice Kirkorian, 91, of Los Altos will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Mesrob Sarafian of St. Vartan Armenian Orthodox Church will officiate. Burial will be private in Ararat Cemetery, Fresno.

Mrs. Kirkorian died June 29, 1999, in Suisun after a long illness.

Born Dec. 12, 1907, in Fresno, she lived in Los Altos for 47 years. She graduated from Fresno State in 1927, receiving her bachelor's degree and her teaching credential. She taught school in Firebaugh, a small farming community in the San Joaquin Valley. She was also a homemaker for 60 years.

During her teen years, she was an active member of the YWCA. In her early 20s, she was a counselor with the YWCA. She served as president of the local PTA, and she was active in the Eastern Star. After moving to Los Altos, she was an active charter member of the AAUW.

Mrs. Kirkorian enjoyed gardening, reading and sewing.

She is survived by her son, Donald G. of Suisun; daughter, Carolyn Hart of Los Altos; granddaughters, Michelle De la Torre of San Jose, Kimberly Belnap of Layton, Utah, and Alysa Hart of Los Altos; grandsons, Gary Hart of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Bill Hart of Los Altos.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Max L. Livingston

Services for Max L. Livingston, 77, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Friday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Bishop Robert Parini of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. Burial will be in Rockville Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Livingston died July 12, 1999, in his home after a sudden illness.

Born April 11, 1922, in Blackfoot, Idaho, he lived in Fairfield for 39 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a staff sergeant. He then worked in civil service at Travis Air Force Base for 20 years. His occupation while in the Air Force and in civil service was an airplane propeller mechanic.

Mr. Livingston enjoyed collecting old records, listening to country music and fishing.

Mr. Livingston is survived by his wife, Virginia of Fairfield; daughter, Ruby J. Livingston-Ice of Sacramento; daughters-in-law, Marti of El Dorado and Ineza Pahl of Fair Oaks; granddaughter, Virginia J. of Fair Oaks; and great-grandson, Troy Michael O'Hara of Fair Oaks. He was preceded in death by his son, Max Jr. in 1985.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
