Robert Richard Amos

Services for Robert Richard Amos, 69, of Vallejo will be 1 p.m. today at Vaca Hills Chapel.

Father Vincent O'Reilly of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born May 19, 1930,in Baltimore, Mr. Amos died July 20, 1999, in Vallejo.

Mr. Amos worked as a private plumbing contractor for 37 years. He enjoyed reading, sports and traveling.

Mr. Amos is survived by his daughters, Julie Covell and Lori Perry, both of Vacaville; son, Robert of Vacaville; grandchildren, Jason, Lisa, Dianna, Mark, Melissa, Christina, Julianne, Danielle, Alanna, Aaron, Kaylee, Jimmy and Dylan; and great-grandchild, Austin.

Visitation will be at noon today at Vaca Hills Chapel.

James G. Lund

Funeral services for James G. Lund, 88, of Vacaville will be noon Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1st Ward.

Michael Klobas of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. Interment will follow at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.

Born Aug. 28, 1910, in Salt Lake City, Mr. Lund died July 21, 1999, in Vacaville.

A Vacaville resident for 27 years, Mr. Lund had his own lithography business in San Francisco for 38 years. He was a past member of the Lithographers Union and an active member of the church, having served his mission in Independence, Mo. He enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. He also was an avid golfer.

Mr. Lund is survived by his wife of 64 years, Katie of Vacaville; daughter, Muriel Fosdick of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and George Kramm of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, John and Deborah of Truckee; sister, Evelyn Raddon of Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1st Ward.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Aid Society of Northern California, P.O. Box 1824, Sacramento, 95812.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.

Edward William Alonzo

A memorial service for Edward William Alonzo, 76, of Colusa will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Colusa Ranch, 3863 Highway 45 in Colusa.

Born in Suisun on June 3, 1923, he was a lifelong farmer in Suisun and Colusa, where he has lived for the last 13 years. He also served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Mr. Alonzo is survived by his wife, Sandra of Colusa; sons, Ed of Visalia, and Jason and Jesse Losonsky, both of Chico; two daughters; brother, Joe Jr. of Suisun; and sisters, Rose Borges and Bea Prusso, both of Fairfield, and Betty Simpson of Hydesville.

Donations can be made to the Colusa Community Hospital Foundation or the Colusa Community Friends of the Library.

Joanne Kathryn Johnny

Graveside services for Joanne Kathryn Johnny, 63, of Suisun City were held Friday at Rockville Cemetery.

Born Aug. 21, 1935, in Scranton, Pa., Mrs. Johnny died July 21, 1999, in Vallejo.

A resident of Suisun City for 12 years, Mrs. Johnny was a homemaker for the past 43 years and was a devoted mother.

She is survived by her daughters, Judi Lugo and Donna Frost, both of Eureka; daughter and son-in-law, Debi and David Foley of Suisun City; sons, Frank Terrell of Suisun City and Clyde Johnny Jr. of Dixon; sister, Kathy Banks of Georgia; and 10 grandchildren.

Mrs. Johnny was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, in 1986.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1652 W.  Texas St., Suite 110, Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Nancy Ruth Junkin

Funeral for Nancy Ruth Junkin, 56, of Vacaville will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Valley Evangelical Free Church, 5063 Maple Road in Vacaville.

Pastor Dave Sotelo will officiate. A private burial will follow the ceremony.

Mrs. Junkin died July 22, 1999, at David Grant Medical Center in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born on May 5, 1943, in Martinez, she moved to the area six years ago.

Mrs. Junkin worked as a preschool director for six years with Higher Heights. She was a member of the Valley Evangelical Free Church as well as AWANA, a religious group. She also loved cooking, flowers, children and the Lord.

Mrs. Junkin is survived by her husband, John of Vacaville; sons, Bryan Walls of Vacaville, Daniel Martin of Spokane, Wash., and Bob Junkin of Newman; daughters, Bonnie Nash of Bellevue, Wash., and Barbara Molitor of Puyallup, Wash.; mother, Vivian Williams of Vacaville; sister, Donna Bailey of Martinez; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be sent to Valley Evangelical Free Church's building fund.

Timothy Charles Harlan

Funeral services for Timothy Charles Harlan, 18, of Suisun City will be held a later date in Detroit as will the burial.

Mr. Harlan died July 22, 1999, in Sacramento after a brief illness.

Born June 2, 1981, at Andrews Air Force Base,  Washington, D.C., he lived in Suisun City for six years. He was a senior at Armijo High School.

Mr. Harlan is survived by his father, Carl of Suisun City; mother, Felybituin of Suisun City; brother, Michael of Cheyenne, Wyo.; sister, Barbara Hayes of Detroit; grandmother, Pilar Campos of Fairfield; grandfather, Norman Campos of Fairfield; and uncle, Willard Campos of Fairfield.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. with a rosary at 3 p.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate.

Donations can be made to donors' favorite charities.

Deloris Smith

Funeral services for Deloris Smith, 41, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Monday in Solano Valley Mortuary Chapel in Fairfield.

Inurnment will be private.

Born April 7, 1958, in Alabama, she died July 19, 1999, in VacaValley Hospital after a sudden illness.

She lived in Vacaville since 1977 and was a preschool teacher.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Frank; sons, Fontell and Frank D. Smith III, both of Vacaville; and daughter, Faith of Vacaville.

A memorial contribution may be made to Wells Fargo Bank, account No. 099560896, in care of Valerie Abernethy, to benefit the Smith children.

Arrangements are being handled by Vallejo Cremation Service.

John Eric Polk

Funeral services for John Eric Polk, 55, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Solano Valley Mortuary Chapel.

Inurnment will be private.

Born Dec. 24, 1943, in Nevada, Mr. Polk died July 24, 1999, after a long illness at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield.

A Fairfield resident for 44 years, Mr. Polk worked at the Daily Republic newspaper for 31 years as press room foreman.

Mr. Polk also was a member of the Solano Yacht Club.

He is survived by his companion, Carol J. Penny of Fairfield; daughter, Lisa Monroe of Fairfield; sister, Lillian Brent of Phoenix; brothers, James of Pleasant Hill and Phil of Des Moines, Iowa; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. today at Solano Valley Mortuary Chapel.

Donations can be made to the Make A Wish Foundation and the Solano Yacht Club.

Shirlie R. Byerley

Funeral services for Shirlie R. Byerley, 74, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 101 Oakwood Drive, Suisun. Bishop Anthony Young will officiate. Burial at Rockville Cemetery will follow.

Born Sept. 23, 1924, in Evanston, Wyo., Mrs. Byerley died July 23, 1999, at the Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa.

Mrs. Byerley was an accomplished singer during the big band era and sang with the Louis Prima Band, touring the northern United States. She also sang with the Tommy Dorsey Band on several occasions.

Mrs. Byerley was a political activist. She served for more than 20 years in the Fairfield office of the Republican Party of Solano County. She was honored as the California Legislature's Woman of the Year in 1995.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert T. of Fairfield; daughters, Tana R. Ballard, Kelle K. Sullivan, both of Vacaville, and Kyle S. Menges of Suisun; sons, Dana J. of Sandy, Utah, Brook R. of Fairfield and Bryce L. of San Francisco; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home today and a visitation will also be held at noon Wednesday prior to the service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 101 Oakwood Drive, Suisun.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa, 95402.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Richard E. Venters

Private memorial services will be held for Richard E. Venters, 80, of Vacaville.

His ashes will be scattered at sea near the Golden Gate Bridge.

Mr. Venters died July 25, 1999, at the Veterans Home of Martinez following a battle with cancer.

Born July 14, 1919, in Sharon, Pa., Mr. Venters served in the United States Army in World War II and worked 10 years for Prudential Insurance Co. before retiring in 1979. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Paradise.

Mr. Venters is survived by his wife, Eileen, and his two sons, Stephen Venters of Vacaville and Richard Venters of San Jose.

Arrangements are being made by the Neptune Society of Northern California-Fairfield.

Burke William Arvin

Graveside services for Burke William Arvin, 83, of Vacaville were held Thursday in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Pastor Vic Jenkins of Unity Church of the Valley officiated. Burial was at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Arvin died July 18, 1999, in his residence after a long illness.

Born Aug. 6, 1915, in Florida, he moved to the area 52 years ago. He worked at the California Medical Facility for 24 years.

Mr. Arvin was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, in 1996.

Arrangement were by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Raymond George Barnes

A memorial service for Raymond George Barnes, 61, of Vacaville will be at 2 p.m. today in Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will be private.

Mr. Barnes died July 26, 1999, in VacaValley Hospital after a brief illness.

Born June 4, 1938, in Pittsburgh, Pa., Mr. Barnes had been a substitute teacher the past two years at Vacaville Unified School District. Prior to that, he owned and operated Michelangelo's Pizza Parlor in Southern California for 20 years and was a mechanical engineer for 17 years. He graduated from University of Southern California in 1972 with a master's degree in finance. He held many other degrees as well.

Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Gail of Vacaville; daughters, Paula Rae Debay of La Habra and Rene Marie Evako of Temple City; sons, Randy Alan of San Dimas and Derek Michael of Boerne,  Texas; sister, Susan Marshall of Irvine; and six grandchildren.
