Anna Elizabeth Smith

Memorial services for Anna Elizabeth Smith, 75, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Vacaville.

Born April 2, 1924, Mrs. Smith died July 22, 1999, at University of California, San Francisco-Stanford Hospital after a sudden illness.

Mrs. Smith had lived in Vacaville since 1993.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Smith-Lacey of Sacramento; grandchildren, Kevin and Lawrence DeHart, Leandre and Serafina Jones, Atiya Simon; great-grandchildren, Andrea Knudsen DeHart, Lawrence DeHart III, Lauren DeHart, Devon Jones, Jumar and Leandre Jamal Jones.

Mary Vivian McKinnon

Funeral services with full military honors for Mary Vivian McKinnon, 65, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

A chaplain from Travis Air Force Base will officiate. Interment will be held Friday at Rolling Green Cemetery in Philadelphia.

A resident of Vacaville for 22 years, Ms. McKinnon retired as a lieutenant colonel from the Air Force after serving 21 years as a nurse. She was a member of the United States Air Force Retired Nurses Association.

She is survived by her brother, Dewey McKinnon of Philadelphia.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Lloyd Robert Olsen

Funeral services for Lloyd Robert Olsen, 53, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Pastor Peter Duckett of Countryside Church in Allendale will officiate. A private interment will be held at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born July 17, 1946, in San Francisco, Mr. Olsen died July 29, 1999, in Fairfield.

A Fairfield resident for 23 years, Mr. Olsen worked as a customer service representative for Delta Airlines in San Francisco for 31 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, motorcycling, camping, gardening and his family.

Mr. Olsen is survived by his wife, Juanita of Fairfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Frances Stornetta of Suisun City, Michelle Olsen of Berkeley, Mary Lomtong of Fairfield, Carla and Allan Mochwart of Napa, Angie and Paul Edwards of Fairfield, and Margie and Dave Thomas of Fairfield; mother, Emma Olsen of Fairfield; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Steven Allred of Fairfield; brother, Gary Olsen of San Francisco; 11 grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Research Fund at 1652 W.  Texas St., Suite 110, Fairfield, 94533.

Edward H. Ramirez

At his request, no services will be held for Edward H. Ramirez, 94, of Vacaville.

Born March 5, 1905, in Guanaguato, Mexico, Mr. Ramirez died July 27, 1999, at Vacaville Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with cancer.

Born to Pedro and Luce Ramirez, Mr. Ramirez came to the United States with his family in 1910 and worked in the grape and cotton fields of the Central Valley. He worked as a farmer most of his life.

As a young man he traveled to Plumas County and took a job as foreman of Redwood Lumber Co. He later moved to the Suisun Valley where he managed the fruit operations of local farmers.

In the early 1940s, Mr. Ramirez purchased his own ranch at the end of Williams Road in Suisun Valley. There, with his wife Soledad, he raised five boys. Mr. Ramirez gained the respect of many longtime area farmers and was active in the Solano County Farm Bureau.

Following his retirement in 1977, Mr. Ramirez moved to Dixon where he enjoyed gardening, fishing and participating in many activities at the senior center.

Mr. Ramirez is survived by his sons, Rudolph, Gilbert, Richard all of Fairfield and Robert of Vacaville; brothers, Angel of Del Ray and Manuel of Sacramento; and sisters, Lupe Soto and Esther Zabala, both of Sacramento; and numerous grandchildren.

Mr. Ramirez was preceded in death by his wife, Soledad, and son Ernest.

Memorial contributions can be made to NorthBay Hospice Program, 1300 Oliver Road, Suite 210, Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.

Evelyn Vasey Roseberry

Memorial services for Evelyn Vasey Roseberry, 107, of Woodland will be 11 a.m. today at St. Anthony's Center.

Born Dec. 26, 1891, in Winters, Mrs. Roseberry died July 27, 1999, at Stollwood Convalescent Hospital in Woodland.

Mrs. Roseberry graduated from Winters High School in 1910 and spent her entire life in Winters until she moved to Woodland in 1997. She worked in various positions in town until 1917, when she became a clerk at the Winters Post Office. She was appointed postmaster of the Winters office in 1958 and retired in 1961.

In 1952, she married James Roseberry in Carson City. Mrs. Roseberry was the Winters correspondent for the Woodland Daily Democrat for many years.

She served as a board member of the Yolo Red Cross for more than 20 years and was a devout member of St. Anthony's Church as well as an avid fund-raiser for the church. She also was a member of the Winters Fortnightly Club, American Field Service and St. Anthony's Altar Service.

Mrs. Roseberry is survived by her nieces, Marilyn San Martin of Berkeley, Patricia Manseau of San Francisco and Betty Coman of Winters; nephews, Lloyd Islip of Carmichael and Robert Islip of Marysville; as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Mrs. Roseberry was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Walters and Adeline Islip; brothers, Joe, Jack and Gregory Vasey; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony's Building Fund, Yolo County Red Cross, St. John's Retirement Village Chapel Building Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice.

William Conrad Dessel

At the request of the family, no formal services will be held for William Conrad Dessel, 62, of Suisun City. Interment will be private at Rockville Cemetery.

Born July 25, 1937, in Omaha, Neb., Mr. Dessel died July 29, 1999, in Suisun City.

A 60-year resident of Solano County, Mr. Dessel lived in Vallejo during his school-age years. He attended St. Vincent's High School in Vallejo.

He worked for 38 years as a supervisor for the Solano County Transportation Department. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and skin diving. He also loved his children and grandchildren very much.

Mr. Dessel is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marlene of Suisun City; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Tony Anderson of Vacaville; son and daughter-in-law, William and Francis of Hayward; son, Robert of Winters; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Hanna Boys' Center, P.O. Box 100, Sonoma, 95476-9989; or to the NorthBay Hospice Center, 1200 B. Gale Wilson Blvd., Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Mary Jean Walker

Funeral services for Mary Jean Walker, 78, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Bishop Scott Haynes of the church will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

Born July 10, 1921, in Logan, Utah, Mrs. Walker died July 30, 1999, at VacaValley Hospital.

A resident of Vacaville for 10 years, Mrs. Walker was a homemaker for 56 years. She was a secretary of the LDS Relief Society. She enjoyed her family and participated in many charity events with her church.

Mrs. Walker is survived by her husband, John I. Walker of Vacaville; daughters, Marilyn Clark of Vacaville, Darlene Weatherly of Vidor,  Texas; son, Jay Raymond Walker of Pleasant Grove, Utah; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 311 N. Alamo Drive in Vacaville.

Arrangements are under the direction of Vaca Hills Chapel.

Alexander M. Ramirez

A Catholic Prayer Service for Alexander M. Ramirez, 63, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Thursday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Burial will be at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Clergy from St. Mary's Catholic Church will officiate.

Mr. Ramirez died Aug. 1, 1999, in Vallejo after a long illness.

Born Nov. 18, 1935, in San Francisco, he had worked for 28 years for the ILWU as a longshoreman. Mr. Ramirez, a 28-year resident of Vacaville, also enjoyed taking long country rides and cutting hair.

He is survived by a daughter, Rose Chamorro of San Francisco; son, Enrique Ramirez of Vacaville; five grandchildren, Yvonne Simpson of Arizona, Monica Ramirez of Vacaville, and Rebecca, Dante, and Diego Chamorro of San Francisco; five brothers and sisters, Gerald Ramirez, Antoinette Ortiz, and Dorothy Pacheco of San Francisco, Everett Ramirez of Oceanside, and James Ramirez of Vista; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation service is scheduled for Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Ruth Bradanini, 290 Fruitvale Road, Vacaville.

Teresa Ann Ujiiye

Graveside funeral services for Teresa Ann Ujiiye, 40, of Fairfield will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

The Rev. Gary Walker will officiate.

Mrs. Ujiiye died July 30, 1999, at her home following a long illness.

Born Oct. 23, 1958, in Vallejo, Mrs. Ujiiye graduated from Vallejo High School in 1976. Most recently, she had been a medical biller for VacaValley Hospital and NorthBay Medical Group for 10 years, but she also worked in the Raley's pharmacy in Vacaville for a year and operated her own day-care center for four years.

Mrs. Ujiiye also was a member of the Valley Evangelical Free Church, the Women of the Word Bible Study, and the Awana Group.

She is survived by her husband, Warren of Fairfield; a daughter, Kristen of Fairfield; mother, Reba Doyle of Vallejo; father, Lawrence E. Doyle of Pinole; sister, Andrea Doyle of Vacaville; brothers, Douglas Doyle of Vallejo and Richard Doyle of Winters.

A visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home in Vacaville.

A memorial service at Valley Free Evangelical Church will follow the graveside services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Louis James Brown Jr.

Funeral services for Louis James Brown Jr., 66, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Friday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

The Rev. Gary Hill of Living Waters Outreach Ministries will officiate.

Born July 6, 1933, in Perry, Fla., he died at home July 31, 1999, after a long illness. He lived in Fairfield three years.

He served in the Air Force and Navy for eight years and was employed by the Fremont General Motors plant for 20 years. He also worked 14 years in GM's Wentzville, Mo., plant and retired in 1997.

He enjoyed gardening and was an avid fisherman.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Mozelle; daughter, Delores Logwood of San Leandro; son, Jimmy Davis of Maryland; sisters, Bealah McKinney, Catherine Glenn, Mary Zeigler, Ethell Marion and Dianne Dawkings, all of Birmingham, Ala.; brothers, Alphene of Las Vegas, Nev., Joseph of Modesto, Robert Sharp of New York and Benjamin Sharp of Alabama; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Coleman Davis.
