Raymond Russell Southward

Funeral services for Raymond Russell Southward, 81, of Fairfield will be noon Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield. Vigil service will be 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Southward died Aug. 23, 1999, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo after a long illness.

Born on Jan. 10, 1918, in Belvedere, Ill., he moved to Fairfield 43 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942-45. He was a first lieutenant in the Air Corps and served as a pilot in the European theater. He was shot down over Italy and was a prisoner of war in Italian and German camps for 28 months. He received a bachelor's degree in physical education from St. Martin's College in Olympia, Wash., and another bachelor's degree in sociology from San Francisco State University and received his teaching credential there as well. He possessed a lifetime teaching credential.

He worked for the California Department of Corrections as a teacher and recreation supervisor. He retired from California Medical Facility in Vacaville in 1978. Of all his jobs and positions, his favorite was as a gold miner in the Black Hills of South Dakota for three years after high school. He enjoyed swimming, fishing and all sports. He enjoyed playing sports with his grandchildren. He was a member of the VFW in Vacaville. He also started the physical education program at Holy Spirit School in Fairfield.

Mr. Southward is survived by his wife, Patricia of Fairfield; daughter, Maureen of Fairfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and William Espinoza of Sacramento, Michele and Fred Southward-Wood of Sacramento and Marne and Paul McHale of Sebastopol; sons, Robert of Fairfield and Jon of Sacramento; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Margo of Sebastopol and Michael and Rose Mary of Fairfield; and grandchildren, Raymond, Russell, Patrice and Kelly Espinoza, all of Sacramento, Elissa of Vacaville, Dustin of Sacramento, Ryan and Cameron of Sebastopol, and Andrew and Carmella of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his son William in 1997.

Philip Moses Gray

A celebration of life service for Philip Moses Gray, 79, of Suisun will be 5 p.m. Sept. 12 at Rockville Presbyterian Church.

The Rev. Larry Vilardo will officiate. Burial was at Rockville Cemetery.

Mr. Gray died Aug. 19, 1999, at NorthBay Medical Center.

Born on Jan. 15, 1920, in Oroville, he lived in Suisun for 52 years. He graduated from Oroville High School and competed a four-year machinist apprenticeship at Mare Island before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

After his military tour, he moved his family to Chico, where he attended California State University, Chico, and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in education. He taught for 36 years for the Vallejo School District and Solano Community College. He also acted as a counselor for most of his teaching years.

He was a member of the Rockville Presbyterian Church, the Solano Community College scholarship foundation, the California Teachers Association and SIRS. He was a founding member of the Pioneer Club for senior church members.

He was a contributing author for the association of Northern California Records and head-coached and managed many junior Peanut League baseball and basketball teams, including Floyd Terrace, Chabot, Federal Terrace, American Legion and Wilson Park Little League.

Mr. Gray is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Suisun; daughter, Marleen Heisch of Vallejo; sons, Dr. Donald Moses of Chico and Roger of Suisun; sister, Carol of Oroville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Ralph Charles in 1974.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Solano Community College Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 2208, Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Krystal Leigh Waldron

Private family services were held for Krystal Leigh Waldron, 14, of Vacaville.

Born Feb. 26, 1985, in Fairfield, Ms. Waldron died Aug. 23, 1999, in Fairfield.

She was a resident of Vacaville all her life.

Ms. Waldron is survived by her parents, Troy and Lorraine; sisters, Savanna and Samantha of Vacaville; brother,  Jackson of Vacaville; paternal grandmother, Rachel Erickson of Vacaville; maternal grandparents, Mickey and Norma Dedrick of Clearlake; aunts and uncles, Richard Erickson of Vacaville, Lisa Erickson of Vacaville, Hank and Stacey Dedrick of Pleasanton, Dan and Lori  Johnson of Moss Beach, Forrest and Marilee of Vacaville, David of  Texas, Tom and Lisa Mahley of Richmond, and Brian and Debbie Bozarth of Moss Beach; great-uncle, Noonie "Ron" Dedrick; great-grandparents, Joe and Lorraine Dedrick of Albany; and numerous cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Richard Erickson, and an uncle, Wayne Johnson.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Olga Pauline Vukcevich Donahue

No services scheduled for Olga Pauline Vukcevich Donahue

At her request, no services will be held for Olga Pauline Vukcevich Donahue. Inurnment will be private at Sewickley Cemetery in  Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Donahue died Aug. 28, 1999, at Laurel Creek Health Care.

Born on May 11, 1918, in McKees Rocks, Pa., she moved to Fairfield 33 years ago after having lived in Sewickley, Pa., until 1966.

She was the former administrator of Sunny Acres Care and Living Center in Fairfield and Vallejo until retiring in 1982. She was a member of the women's division of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, Soroptomist International, Napa Needle Guild, Solano/Fairfield Needle Arts Society, Wednesday Club, Business and Professional Women's Organization, Order of Eastern Star and Vallejo Symphony. She also enjoyed needlepoint and was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.

Mrs. Donahue is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Cheryl of Dixon, and Clifford and Karen of Fairfield; sisters, Irene Miller of Crafton Heights, Pa., and Charlotte Wickline of Montour Run, Pa.; grandchildren, Vincent of  Pennsylvania, Noel of Dixon, and Ross and Emily of Fairfield; great-grandchild, Haley Jean of Ripon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1984, and her daughter Nana in 1963.

Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Gerald L. Oliver

Memorial services for Gerald L. Oliver, 62, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Episcopal Epiphany Church. The Rev. Stephen Leonetti will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Oliver died Aug. 27, 1999, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo after a brief illness.

Born on Sept. 11, 1936, in Dallas,  Texas, he resided in Vacaville for the past 20 years. He was employed as a corrections officer at the California Medical Facility for the past 18 years.

Mr. Oliver is survived by his wife of 33 years, Penny of Vacaville; daughters, Marion and Julie of Vacaville and Linda Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his son, Benjamin in 1998.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Ruth Bradanini, 290 Fruitvale Ave., Vacaville.

Arrangements are being handled by Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Joseph G. Lewis Jr.

A memorial service for Joseph G. Lewis Jr., 87, of Vacaville will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Epiphany Episcopal Church, 300 West St. in Vacaville.

The Rev. Stephen Leonetti will preside. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Lewis died Aug. 26, 1999, at Vacaville Convalescent Hospital.

Born July 26, 1912, in San Francisco, he lived in Ross, Marin County until he graduated from San Rafael Military Academy in 1932. He attended the College of Agriculture at the University of California, Davis, and was a member of the Philo Delphos fraternity. He worked for his father's hay, grain and feed business, Lewis-Simas- Jones Co., for several years in San Francisco.

In 1942, he began sheep ranching with his father-in-law, Robert McKenzie. Together, they managed the 800-acre McKenzie ranch in Dixon and leased 7,000 acres in Zamora until 1960 to raise sheep.

Mr. Lewis was an avid golfer, a member of the Yolo County Flyer's Club and Green Valley Country Club. He was one of the founding members of Leisure Town as well as an active member of the Wool Grower's Association for many years.

He left Dixon in 1962 to run a retail business in Santa Rosa. Later he moved to Oakland, where he retired in 1980 as a social worker for the county of Alameda.

In 1992, he married Billie Louise Jones-Lewis. They lived at Leisure Gardens in Vacaville until his death.

Mr. Lewis loved his family, his church and enjoyed Sunday drives through the countryside with his wife.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph G. III and Maria of Hayden, Idaho; son, Robert T. of Dixon; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane S. and Syd Schroeder and Mary D. and Mike Christensen, all of Dixon; 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mr. Lewis' memory to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Maudene Schroeder

A memorial service for Maudene Schroeder, 83, a longtime resident of Dixon, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Dixon Community Church.

The Rev. Wes Nordman will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Schroeder died Aug. 27, 1999, at Vacaville Convalescent Hospital.

Born Aug. 10, 1916, in Sacramento, she graduated from McMinnville High School in Oregon and returned to Sacramento to live until her marriage to Roy Schroeder. After raising her three sons, she worked for the Dixon Public Library and then as a bookkeeper for Weaver Tractor Co. until her retirement.

She enjoyed genealogy, history, reading, traveling, playing canasta and collecting dolls. She was a member of Grange, Eastern Star and the historical societies of Dixon, Sacramento, Solano County and Oregon.

Mrs. Schroeder also loved to dance and she and her husband were charter members of the Dixon Dance Club.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Kathy of Winters, Sydney and Diane of Dixon and Kurt L. of Lodi; a brother, Clarence (Casey) Parker of Morgan Hill; grandchildren, Herman, Michelle, Kim, Shaun and Kristen Schroeder and Karie and Buddy Herlinger; and two great-grandchildren, Roy and Jacob Schroeder.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, and her brother, Dr. Lewis Parker.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dixon Historical Society, P.O. Box 814, Dixon, 95620.

Calvin Dailey Sr.

A memorial service for Calvin Dailey Sr., 66, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Friday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Dailey died Aug. 27, 1999, in Fairfield following a sudden illness.

Born Jan. 1, 1934, in Kansas City, Kan., he had lived in Vacaville for 22 years. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years of service and after retirement worked as a real estate broker in Solano County.

Mr. Dailey is survived by his wife, Ann of Vacaville; sons, Calvin Jr. of Colorado and Keith of Modesto; daughter, Alicia of Oakland; stepdaughters, Cheryl Draper-Davis of Sacramento and Karen DeGroat of England; three sisters, one brother and numerous grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Angelo Moscarelli Foster

Funeral services for Angelo Moscarelli Foster, 72, of Suisun City will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Mausoleum Chapel in San Pablo. Inurnment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Mr. Foster died Aug. 20, 1999, at his home in Suisun City.

Born in Wisconsin on May 6, 1927, he moved to Suisun City three months ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Coast Guard and served in World War II and the Korean War. The sea was his life, even after retiring, as he continued to sail. He worked for American President Lines as a seaman for 36 years and was a member of the Seaman's Union of the Pacific.

Mr. Foster is survived by his two brothers, John Moscarelli of Stockton and Dominic Moscarelli of San Pablo; nephews, Anthony Moscarelli of Suisun City, Dominic Moscarelli of Utah and Michael Moscarelli of Oregon; and nieces, Namoni Moscarelli of Stockton and Rose Marie Moscarelli of Redding.

Doretha Harris

Funeral services for Doretha Harris, 81, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fairfield Funeral Home. Pastor Mike McCamey will officiate. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Harris died Aug. 26, 1999, at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born on Aug. 13, 1918, in Baton Rouge, La., she moved to Fairfield 21 years ago. She was a homemaker and was married to her husband, Willie, for 63 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Baton Rouge.

Mrs. Harris is survived by her husband, Willie; adopted son, James Gray of Vallejo; sister, Rachel Spencer of Baton Rouge; nieces, Sheila Range of San Francisco and Sheryl Range of San Pablo; and three granddaughters.

Consuelo Christina Huff

Funeral services for Consuelo Christina Huff, 61, of Suisun will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield, while the vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Huff died Aug. 27, 1999, at David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base after a long illness.

Born on April 22, 1938, in San Salvador, El Salvador, she moved to Solano County 30 years ago. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed ceramics, the outdoors, sewing and dancing.

Mrs. Huff is survived by her husband, David of Riverside; daughter and son-in-law Linda and George Rivera of Fairfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Cortez and Ann Gamino of Fairfield and Robert Cortez and Louise Hoffert of Suisun Valley; sister, Gloria Romero of Miami Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Christina, Melina and Andre Cortez of Suisun Valley and Emmanuel Rivera of Fairfield; cousin, Lola Montez of San Francisco; and devoted friend, Rudolph Cortez of Fairfield.
