Robert Svend Nielsen

Memorial services for Robert Svend Nielsen, 64, of Fairfield have been held. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mr. Nielsen died Sept. 15, 1999, at David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base.

Born on June 9, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he moved to Fairfield 24 years ago. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a firefighter from 1952 to 1972 and retired as a staff sergeant.

After retirement from the military, he continued working as a firefighter, retiring from the Alameda Naval Air Station as chief fire investigator in 1993. He enjoyed collecting firefighting memorabilia.

Mr. Nielsen is survived by his wife, Judith of Fairfield; daughters, Margaret Hakala of Wisconsin, Teresa Overton of Fremont, Vallerie Kelley of Fairfield, Laurie of Vacaville and Courtney Nelson of Suisun; son, Ronald of Fairfield; sisters, Jane Pinckney of Petaluma and Agnes Heinman of Georgia; and brother, Joseph of New York. He also had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Robert Gregory Orr

Funeral services for 6-month-old Robert Gregory Orr of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Valley Evangelical Free Church in Vacaville.

Interment will follow in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

The infant died Sept. 17, 1999, at University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento after a long illness. He was born on March 4, 1999, in Fairfield.

Robert is survived by his parents, Lt. Greg and Carla of Vacaville; twin brother, Zachary John of Vacaville; and sisters, Jennifer Kathryn and Hillary Spring, both of Yucca Valley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the University of California, Davis, Medical Center for pediatric heart research and/or blood donations in Robert's name. The address is 2315 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, 95818.

Leo John Koford

Graveside services for Leo John Koford, 85, of Napa will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Rockville Cemetery, 4219 Suisun Valley Road.

Friends and family are invited to a remembrance gathering at the Koford family home, 4300 E. Third Ave. in Napa following the service.

Mr. Koford died Sept. 18, 1999, at Sierra Vista Nursing Center in Napa following a long illness.

Born Nov. 15, 1913, in Ronne, Island of Bornholm, Denmark, he had lived in Napa for 54 years but lived in Suisun and Vallejo prior to that.

Mr. Koford came to the United States at 6 with his mother, sister and older brother. His grew up in the Suisun and Vallejo area. At the age of 21, he became a citizen and served during World War II as a technical sergeant of the 313th Troop Carrier Group, 49th Squadron. While at Florence Airbase,  South Carolina, he met and married his bride, Marguerite, to whom he was married for 56 years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served as a technical sergeant with the 451st Army Air Forces Base Unit until 1945.

After returning from overseas, Mr. Koford and his wife moved to California, starting their home in Napa in 1945. After the war, he returned to his job at Berglund Tractor Co., where he was a heavy equipment mechanic for more than 41 years. He retired in 1977.

Mr. Koford is survived by his wife, Marguerite of Napa; a daughter, Sandy Gant of Napa; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Holly of Napa; four grandchildren, Rick and Steve Gant, Kelly and Eric Koford, all of Napa; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Austin Gant of Napa; two nephews, Robert Born of Campbell and Rob Born of Seattle; and a niece, Teresa Augustine of Seattle.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Johanna K. Hoxie, his brother, Luis Koford and his sister, Dagmar Born. He will be buried next to them at Rockville Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Koford's memory to the Boys and Girls Club of Napa Building Fund, 2310 First St., Napa, 94558.

Pauline Ann Tolzin

Memorial services for Pauline Ann Tolzin, 76, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Community United Methodist Church, 1875 Fairfield Ave., Fairfield.

The Rev. Dave Bunje of the Community United Methodist Church will officiate.

There will be a private inurnment at the Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mrs. Tozlin was born May 13, 1923, in Lynn Grove, Iowa, and died Sept. 18, 1999, at her Fairfield home.

She was a great cook and loved to bake. She loved telling jokes to everyone she met, even her doctors.

She lived most of her life in Alta and Storm Lake, Iowa. She moved to California in 1996 to be near her daughters and family.

She taught elementary and junior high school and coached the girls' basketball team for 22 years in Fairview, Aurelia and Schaller schools in Iowa. She also worked at greater Des Moines Opportunity and as a hostess for McDonald's before moving to California.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and John Merrell of Fairfield and Jean and Rick Nelson of Suisun City; grandchildren, Gina Merrell of Fairfield and Molly Merrell of Lincoln, Neb., Allison, Mitch and Ben Nielson of Suisun City, and Kristen Beckman of Albert City, Iowa; great-granddaughter, Elise Knudtson of Albert City.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Gould and Ralph; parents, Elmer and Lydia Friedlund; and her brother, Dar Friedlund.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1652 W.  Texas, Suite 110, Fairfield, 94533 or to the Community United Methodist Church, 1875 Fairfield Ave., Fairfield, 94533.

Cecilia Brazil Gonsalves

Funeral services for Cecilia Brazil Gonsalves, 95, of Dixon, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peters Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Silveyville Cemetery.

Mrs. Gonsalves died Sept. 18, 1999, in Davis.

Born on Dec. 14, 1903, in Ewa, Hawaii, she lived in Dixon for many years and raised her family in the surrounding area. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and being around her large family and many friends.

Mrs. Gonsalves is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Bea and Bill Fairfield of Dixon, Jo and Lewie Wentworth of Dixon and Flo Scollan of Cupertino; son and daughter-in-law, Manuel and Judy Brazil of Rio Vista; and stepson Frank and his wife, Sandra, of Modesto. She also has 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. Peters Catholic Church, 205 S. 2nd Street, Dixon, 95620, or to the donor's favorite charity.

William Baird Kuehn

Graveside services will full military honors for William Baird Kuehn, 83, of Vacaville, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. The Rev. Benedict DeLeon will officiate. Inurnment will be at the same time.

Mr. Kuehn died Sept. 10, 1999, in VacaValley Hospital.

Born on Jan. 25, 1916, in Philadelphia, he moved to the area 37 years ago. He was a civil servant at Mare Island for 12 years after retiring from a 22-year career in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Italian Catholic Federation and Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Kuehn is survived by his wife, Gertrude of Vacaville.

Salvatore Vito Badalamenti

A Mass of Christian Burial for Salvatore Vito Badalamenti, 79, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Badalamenti died Sept. 18, 1999, at VacaValley Hospital.

Born on April 6, 1920, in Illinois, he moved to the area 21 years ago. He retired as a major from the U.S. Air Force after a 22-year career.

Mr. Badalamenti is survived by his wife, Virginia; and sisters, Ann Alluche of Tuscon, Ariz., and Frances Tristano of Phoenix.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Joseph Building Fund, 1771 Marshall Road, Vacaville, 95687.

Ashley Christine Bernhardt

A funeral for Ashley Christine Bernhardt, 11, of Dixon will be 2 p.m. Friday at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Silveyville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ashley died Sept. 19, 1999, in a car accident.

Born on Oct. 20, 1987, in Williston, N.D., she attended Anderson Elementary School in Dixon and was in the sixth-grade. She enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball and Little League baseball.

Ashley is survived by her mother, Penny of Dixon; father and stepmother, Stephen and Glenda of Littleton,  Colo.; maternal grandparents, Morris and Luella Danielson of Dixon; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Lenna of Nikolaevsk, Alaska; grandmother, Helen Dunn of Roundup, Mont.; sister, Shae of Littleton; aunts and uncles, Denise and Jeff Richey of Vacaville, Walt and Shawhn Roberts of Montana, and Kimmie; cousins, Jaclin and Katelin Richey of Vacaville, Rebecca, Jason, and Breanne Roberts of Montana, and Shawn and Shawna Metzger of Casper, Wyo. She is also survived by many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First Northern Bank of Dixon Memorial Fund for Ashley Christine Bernhardt.

Gilbert 'George' Loustaunau

Funeral services for Gilbert "George" Loustaunau, 67, of Vacaville will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Vaca Hills Chapel. Chaplain Keith Knauf will officiate. Burial will be at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Loustaunau died Sept. 21, 1999, in Vacaville from injuries suffered in a traffic accident.

Born on April 28, 1932, in Los Angeles, he moved to the area 24 years ago. He was a painter for 25 years with Bay Area Painters and a member of Local No. 376. He enjoyed model crafts, was an avid artist and loved cycling.

Mr. Loustaunau is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Sandy of Vacaville and Mark and Laura of Vacaville; daughter, Cindy Gobiel; brothers, Oscar of Sacramento, Joe of Southgate, Edward of Long Beach and Christopher of Linwood; and grandchildren, Kyle, Jillian, Ryan, Seth, Elizabeth, Daniel, Lindsey and Marissa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia Society.

Elizabeth Cummings

Funeral services for Elizabeth Cummings, 109, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Vacaville.

The Rev. Leroy Gainey will officiate. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Cummings died Sept. 21, 1999, at Vacaville Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.

Born Dec. 5, 1889, in Austin,  Texas, she had lived in the area for nine years. She was a homemaker for 75 years and a teacher for nine years in  Texas.

Mrs. Cummings was a member of Paradise Baptist Church in San Francisco and often helped the needy in San Francisco. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and playing board games with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Olivia Fisher of Vacaville; son, Earl Bunton of Vacaville; grandchildren, Archie and Frances of Vacaville, Joyce of San Francisco, and Marilyn of Sacramento; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Lance, Craig, and Eric of San Francisco, and Kimberly of Vacaville; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Webster Bunton of  Texas.

Visitation will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Vaca Hills Chapel.

Walter Francis DeGraan Jr.

No services were held for Walter Francis DeGraan Jr., 67, of Dixon.

Born Oct. 20, 1931, in Boston, Mr. DeGraan died Sept. 17, 1999, in Dixon after a long illness.

A retired Air Force staff sergeant, he had retired from the Boston Transit Authority and had lived in Dixon for a year.

He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Jim Haughn of Dixon; daughter, Courtney of Dixon; grandchildren, Erin, Emma, Nellie and Hayden Haughn, all of Dixon; and nephews, Walter and Albert.

Arrangements were by McCune Garden Chapel.

Jose Munoz

Funeral services for Jose Munoz, 77, of Suisun City will be 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1050 N.  Texas St. in Fairfield.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Burial will be at Fairfield-Suisun Cemetery.

Mr. Munoz died Sept. 22, 1999, at David Grant Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born Jan. 11, 1922, in the Philippines, he had lived in Suisun for 11 years.

Mr. Munoz was a chief storekeeper and retired from the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Lolita of Suisun; son and daughter-in-law, David and Reina of Suisun; brother, Tony; three grandchildren, Ali, Rachel and Nika, all of Suisun; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and rosary will be held both today and Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Solano Valley Mortuary, 2590 N.  Texas St.
