Wendall Arling Chase

Memorial services for Wendall Arling Chase, 85, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. today at Vaca Hills Chapel. His ashes will be scattered over the Golden Gate Bridge.

Mr. Chase died in VacaValley Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born on May 25, 1914, in Little Rock, Ark. As a young boy he moved to Bayfield, Wis., then moved to Vacaville where he resided for 50 years. He was employed as a safety engineer for 20 years with Basic Vegetable. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and enjoyed locksmithing and fishing.

Mr. Chase is survived by his wife, Frances (Mickey) of Vacaville; son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Robin of Petaluma; brother, Leroy of Minnesota; grandchildren, Melanie, Eric and Todd; and great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kameron. He was preceded in death by his son Mark in 1982.

Nina Cohn

Memorial services for Nina Rita Cohn, 59, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Unity Church of the Valley.

The Rev. Vic Jenkins will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Cohn died on Nov. 17, 1999, at her home in Vacaville after a long illness.

Born on April 8, 1940, in Boston, she was raised in Rio Vista and was a longtime resident of Vacaville. She worked in public relations for Pacific Bell. She was a member of, and recently was honored by, the Solano Partnership of California. She was an inspiration and guiding light in the youth education program at Unity Church of the Valley.

Mrs. Cohn is survived by her husband, Jay of Vacaville; fathers, Jack Sassard and John Bulmer; mother, Aileen Sassard; twin sister and brother-in-law, Nona and Les Simoni; son, John Pief Jr.; and nieces, Wendy Sobotta and Jennifer Walsh.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Unity Church of the Valley, Nina Cohn Memorial Fund.

Herbert Harris

No services are scheduled for Herbert "Healthy" Harris, 79, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Harris died on Nov. 16, 1999, at David Grant Medical Center after a long illness.

Born on Nov. 25, 1919, in Sumner, Wash., he worked in civil service as an airfield manager at Travis Air Force Base for 20 years before retiring. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, retiring from the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant colonel. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and several medals, including the Air Medal with four oak leaves and medals for American campaign, humane action, National Defense Service, Korean service, United Nations service, armed forces reserves and World War II victory. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Reno National Air Races and was a member of the Retired Officers Association.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Edith of Vacaville; daughters, Sherry Aalborg of Tacoma, Wash., and Jeanne Davis of Temecula; son, James of Vacaville; and sister, Betty Myron of  Washington. He also had six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Georgie Wasilewski IV

Memorial services for Georgie Wasilewski IV, 19, of Vacaville will be 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Matthias Church in Redwood City.

Mr. Wasilewski died on Nov. 15, 1999, in Phoenix, Ariz., in a car accident.

Born on Oct. 29, 1980, in Palo Alto, he was an excellent athlete who enjoyed snowboarding, surfing, water skiing, table tennis and being with his sister.

Mr. Wasilewski is survived by his mother, Marion Eschweiler of Chandler, Ariz., father and stepmother, George and Lina of Vacaville; sister, Christina of Vacaville; and stepsiblings, Micelle and Michael Horner of Vacaville. He also had 13 cousins, seven uncles, five aunts, six grandparents and several friends.

Mildred H. Craw

Visitation for Mildred H. Craw, 80, of Fairfield will be 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. The Rev. Stewart Drake of the Fairfield Presbyterian Church will officiate.

Mrs. Craw will be entombed at the Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born Dec. 11, 1918, in Fairbury, Ill., Mrs. Craw died Nov. 19, 1999, at home.

Mrs. Craw owned and operated the Blanch Hartley Dress Store in Fairfield for 30 years.

She is survived by her sister, Ruth Clark of Sun City; nephews, Chris and his wife, Cindy of San Diego, Steven Clark of  Texas and William Clark of Davis; great-niece, Carolyn Clark of Corvallis, Ore.; and friends, Jack and Norma Randolph of Fairfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. David Craw.

Lucille Laverne Hazlett

Visitation for Lucille Laverne Hazlett, 71, of Vacaville will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home. Duane Robinson, a family friend, will officiate.

There will be a private interment in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born in Tripp, S.D., on June 11, 1928, Mrs. Hazlett died at home Nov. 19, 1999, after a long illness.

She had lived in Vacaville for the past 22 years.

She worked as an accounting clerk and bookkeeper for 31 years with the South Lake Tahoe Unified School District.

She was a member of the Diabetes Society of Solano County, which she co-founded and presided over for five years. She received the JCPenney Golden Rule Award and was recognized for her volunteerism by county Supervisor Skip Thomson and the Vacaville Senior Center.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, of Vacaville, to whom she was married for 52 years; daughters, Jane and Susan of Vacaville; grandsons, Sean Schneidewind of McMinnville, Ore., and Paul of Vacaville; and brothers, Vernon Nuss of Pinole, Alfred Nuss of Napa and Merlin Nuss of Ashland, Ore.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Diabetes Society of Solano County, 817 Missouri St., No. 4, Fairfield, 94533.

Leo Don Ciccotelli

A Catholic Prayer Service for Leo Don Ciccotelli, 65, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Vaca Hills Chapel.

Father Vincent O'Reilly of St. Joseph's Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Aug. 10, 1934, in  Pennsylvania, Mr. Ciccotelli died Nov. 20, 1999, at home.

Mr. Ciccotelli was a master sergeant with the Air Force for 26 years and was then employed by Exxon as a lab technician for 18 years before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, woodworking and was a member of St. Joseph's church.

Mr. Ciccotelli is survived by his wife, June of Vacaville; daughters and sons-in-law, Colleen and Marc Rosenfeld of Menlo Park, Lisa and David Spiegel of Encinitas; son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Robin of West Lynn, Ore.; sons, Tony of Sacramento and Stephen of Vacaville; sister, Marcella Gillin of  Pennsylvania; stepchildren, Dwayne, Davis and Gary Breed; and grandchildren, Steven, Lily Jean, Mike, Nick, Isaac, Daniel, Hannah, Ian, Brittany and Stephen.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Vaca Hills Chapel, 524 Elmira Road, with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Aurelia O. Hidalgo

Funeral services for Aurelia O. Hidalgo, 71, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Carlos Juarez of United Pentacostal Church in Stockton will officiate. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born July 27, 1928, in Acaponeta, Nayarit, Mexico, Mrs. Hidalgo died Nov. 18, 1999, in Fairfield,

A professional cook in Palm Springs for 20 years, Mrs. Hidalgo was a homemaker in Fairfield for the past 20 years. She was a member of the Apostolic Church in Fairfield and a member of the church's women's auxiliary. She was also a member of the church choir and a dedicated church servant. Mrs. Hidalgo enjoyed cooking.

She is survived by her husband, Luciano A. of Fairfield; daughters, Lydia Osuna of Fairfield, Blanca Alvarado of Vacaville; sons, Lalo Osuna of Fairfield, Alphonso Paez of Bellingham, Wash., and Miguel of Fairfield; brothers, Ramon Rangel of Mazatlan, Mexico; Gregorio Rangel of Mexicali, Mexico; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W.  Texas St.

Rosemary Ellen Hobson

No funeral services are planned for Rosemary Ellen Hobson, 80, of Vacaville.

There will be a private interment.

Born Feb. 21, 1919, in Austin,  Texas, Mrs. Hobson died Nov. 19, 1999, in Vacaville after a brief illness.

She worked at a Fairfield hospital and in Santa Rosa as an office manager and bookkeeper before retiring to become a sales manager for Princess House.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gene Thacker of Vacaville; son, Tom Medlen of Fort Worth,  Texas; grandsons, Kevin and Craig Thacker of Fairfield and Todd Thacker of Vacaville; great-granddaughters, Allison Thacker of Brookings, Ore., and Hannah Thacker of Vacaville; and brother, James A. Lasater of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. O.R. Lasater of Ballinger,  Texas, and her husband, Willis.

Memorial contributions can be made to the NorthBay Hospice, 1800  Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield, 94533-9980, or to the American Cancer Society of California, care of Ruth Bradanini, 290 Fruitvale Road, Vacaville, 95688.

Alma Learson Cosse

A Mass of Christian Burial for Alma Learson Cosse, 88, of Fairfield will be noon Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday. Interment will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born June 10, 1911, in New Orleans, Mrs. Cosse died Nov. 21, 1999, at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield after a short illness.

She lived in New Orleans for 79 years before moving to Fairfield nine years ago. She was active in the Fairfield Outreach Program at the Fairfield Senior Center.

Mrs. Cosse is survived by her daughters, Delia Cosse Forte and Melva Cosse Hopkins, both of Fairfield; sister, Leona Ferdinand of New Orleans; grandchildren, Albert St. Etienne Jr. of Petaluma, Ricky Martin of Fairfield, Wanda Martin of Fairfield, Phillip Hopkins Jr. of Oakland, Dal Rio Cosse of New Orleans and Abraham Cosse III of New Orleans; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham Cosse Sr. and her son, Abraham Cosse Jr.

Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1050 N.  Texas St., Fairfield, 94533.

Daniel Thomas Whaley-Fitzjearl

A funeral for Daniel Thomas Whaley-Fitzjearl, 33, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

The Rev. Ed Sanderson of the Church of Christ of Vacaville will officiate.

Born in San Jose on April 6, 1966, Mr. Whaley-Fitzjearl died Nov. 20, 1999, in Vacaville after a long illness.

He was a 1984 graduate of Vacaville High School.

He enjoyed music, movies and spending time with his daughter.

Survivors include his daughter, Ariel Keoahu of Fairfield; longtime companion, Kay Seward of Fairfield; mother and stepfather, Judy and Bill Harris of Vacaville; father, William of Hemet; sister, Kelly Wood of Vacaville; stepbrother, Craig Harris of Salinas; aunt, Becky Escamilla of Vacaville; cousins, Tricia Lewis of San Bruno and Michael Escamilla of Vacaville; niece,  Taylor Wood of Vacaville; nephew, Garrett Wood of Vacaville.

Anna Yarski

A memorial service for Anna Yarski, 63, of Fairfield will be 9 a.m. today at Fairmont Memorial Park Chapel. Stan Sanderson will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born Aug. 13, 1936, in New York, Mrs. Yarski died Nov. 19, 1999, in Fairfield after a short illness.

She received a bachelor's degree in human relations from Golden Gate University and spent 18 years as an office manager at Mare Island. In 1996, she received her paralegal degree at the University of California and worked for Susan Christiansen's law firm before illness cut her new career short. She was an avid golfer and member of Cypress Lakes Golf Club at Travis Air Force Base. She loved walking and hiking.

Mrs. Yarski is survived by her companion, Norman West of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Tori and John Busto of Vacaville; son, Mike Yarski of Melbourne, Australia; brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Harriet Tummolo of Canoga Park; and granddaughter, Alexandria Busto of Vacaville.
