Kinuye June Bento

A memorial service for Kinuye June Bento, 58, of Benicia will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lighthouse Covenant Fellowship in Benicia. Pastor Samuel Huddleston will officiate. Inurnment will be private at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.

Mrs. Bento died on Nov. 18, 1999, at Sunbridge Care Center in Vallejo after a long illness.

Born on June 9, 1941, in San Rafael, she moved to the area 21 years ago. She worked as an accountant for Koret of California and the Shell Oil Co. She was later self-employed in various businesses, including jewelry, clothing, and antique sales. She was a member of the Affordable Housing Affiliation in Benicia, Lighthouse Covenant Fellowship Church, and Women's Aglow. Her hobbies included jewelry and clothing designing.

Mrs. Bento is survived by her daughters, Lora Kay Woodliff of Janesville, Wis., and Linda M. Ragsdale of Benicia; son, Sgt. Leonard L. Lawrence of Rome; mother, Hisako Yokota of Richmond; sisters, Masaye Arima of Santa Clara, Teruye Hirano of Berkeley, and Toshiye Yokota of Chicago; brothers, Hideo Yokota of Belmont, Hisao Yokota of Berkeley, Ken Yokota of Santa Barbara, Haruo Yokota of Richmond, and Dick Yokota of Santa Cruz. She also had seven grandchildren.

William 'Bill' Gladders

Private memorial services for William "Bill" Gladders, 72, of Fairfield will be at Lake Berryessa. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Gladders died Nov. 19, 1999 at home after a long illness.

Born July 27, 1927, in Joliet, Ill., he moved to Fairfield 10 years ago. He worked in banking for more than 30 years and retired as a vice president for Bank of America in 1989. He enjoyed summers at Lake Berryessa with his wife.

Mr. Gladders is survived by his wife, Jackie Gladders of Fairfield; daughters, Nancy Hewitt of Pleasant Hill and Linda Souix Hanson of Fairfield; son, Jim Gladders of Madera; and nine grandchildren.

'Hal' W. Hampton

There will be no services for "Hal" W. Hampton, 74, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Hampton died on Nov. 23, 1999, at VacaValley Hospital after a short illness.

Born on March 21, 1925, in Richmond, he moved to the area nine years ago. He worked as a service manager at Goodyear Tire for 30 years. He was a member of the Stockton Elks and Moose Clubs.

Mr. Hampton is survived by his daughter, Shirley Altheide of Stockton; stepdaughter, Betty Jean Alvarado of Arizona; son, Hal Gene of Lucerne Valley; and sister, Helen of El Cerrito. He also had 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Herbert 'Healthy' Harris

No services are scheduled for Herbert "Healthy" Harris, 79, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Harris died on Nov. 16, 1999, at David Grant Medical Center after a long illness.

Born on Nov. 25, 1919, in Sumner, Wash., he worked in civil service as an airfield manager at Travis Air Force Base for 20 years before retiring. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, retiring from the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant colonel. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and several medals, including the Air Medal with four oak leaves and medals for American campaigns, humane action, National Defense Service, Korean service, United Nations service, armed forces reserves and World War II victory. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Reno National Air Races and was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the Order of Quiet Birdman.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Edith "Margaret" of Vacaville; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry Aalborg of Tacoma, Wash., and Jeanne and Randy Davis of Temecula; son and daughter-in-law, James Harris and Michelle Schlick-Harris of Vacaville; sister, Betty Myron of  Washington; grandchildren, Steven Gower of Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada, Christine Bennet of West Minister, British Columbia, Canada, Kimberly Aalborg of Tacoma, Steven Harris and Jennie Rose, both of Vacaville, and Steven Davis of Temecula; and great-grandchild, Brenner Gower of Winnepeg.

Ellen Madaline Lewis

A funeral for Ellen Madaline Lewis, 81, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mrs. Lewis died on Nov. 23, 1999, at her home in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born on Oct. 10, 1918, in Denver, she lived in Fairfield for the past 10 years. She was a homemaker for 52 years and worked as a retail clerk at Dean's Department Store in Belmont.

She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield and was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader in Southern California. She was a member of the Airstream Club and traveled for five years around the United States, Canada and Mexico. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Placerville.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by her daughters, Mary Renison of Placerville and JoAnn Libal of Fairfield; and son, Bob of Concord. She also had nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom F. Lewis Sr., in 1988, and son Tom F. Lewis Jr. in 1995.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Solano Food Bank, 631 Railroad Ave., Suisun, 94585.

Loren Wendall Martin

Private memorial services for Loren Wendall Martin, 80, of Galt will be held at a later time. Inurnment will be private at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Martin died on Nov. 23, 1999, at Galt Convalescent Hospital.

Born on Oct. 6, 1919, in Boise, Idaho, he was raised there until moving to San Pablo in 1953 and moving to Vacaville in the late 1980s. He married Nellie Berry on June 13, 1950. He worked as a truck driver for Stewart Grage Trucking and later for Santa Fe Railway Trucking before retiring in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for seven years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 415.

He enjoyed fishing, boating, and quarterhorse shows. He also enjoyed listening to sports, especially baseball, and driving his truck. He enjoyed being around his grandchildren.

Mr. Martin is survived by his daughter, Barbara Jewell of Galt; stepchildren, James Berry of Vacaville, Bill Berry of Brentwood and Mary Ann Long of Galt; and brother, Cecil of Nevada. He also had four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Martin in 1997, stepdaughter, Bonnie Berry in 1998, brothers, William and Kenneth; and sister, Eloise Bowman.

Jean Eichel Rusby

Memorial services for Jean Eichel Rusby, 54, of Vacaville will be 6 p.m. Monday at Episcopal Epiphany Church. The Rev. Stephen J. Leonetti will officiate. Interment will be private at Trinity Episcopal Cemetery in Hamilton, Ohio.

Mrs. Rusby died on Nov. 20, 1999, in Winsor House after a short illness.

Born on July 29, 1945, in Lafayette, Ind., she lived in Vacaville for the past 29 years. She attended the University of Miami-Ohio, Harvard University and earned her degree from the University of California, Davis. She more recently obtained her teaching credential at Chapman University. She was a licensed real estate agent with Kappel & Kappel Realtors from 1974 until 1995. She was also very active in the Northern Solano Board of Realtors and served as the editor of the board's local publication. In 1994, she became a long-term substitute teacher at Vanden High School and in 1995 she accepted a full-time teaching position with the Vacaville Unified School District, teaching English, specializing in Shakesperean studies, at Vacaville High School.

Mrs. Rusby is survived by her daughter, Sarah of Walnut Creek; brother, Robert Eichel of Albuquerque; sister, Susan Ewing of Charlotte, N.C.; and mother, Jean Eichel of Hamilton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, care of Ruth Bradanini, 290 Fruitvale Ave., Vacaville, 95688.

Lorene Thompson

There will be no services for Lorene Thompson, 81, of Vacaville. A private burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Santa Cruz.

Mrs. Thompson died on Nov. 22, 1999, in Vacaville.

Born on Dec. 4, 1917, in Garden Valley,  Texas, she was a resident of Vacaville for the past 22 years. She worked as a cook and a baker at Dominican Hospital for 10 years, and she was a full-time mother. She loved traveling and enjoyed journeying across the United States.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her children, Bill Dean of Florence, Ore., Elaine Carter of Vacaville, Geneva Matta of Santa Cruz, Wanda Larson of Redding, Kathy Dean of Bridgefield, Marie Woodall of Vacaville and Steve Dean of Santa Cruz. She also had 23 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, five brothers and three sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa,95402.

Patrick F. Conry

A memorial service for Patrick F. Conry, 49, of Suisun will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fairfield Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Conry died on Nov. 25, 1999, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Vallejo.

Born on Dec. 6, 1949, in Trenton, N.J., he lived in Suisun for the past 16 years. He worked as a computer programmer at Kaiser Permanente for nine years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Conry is survived by his wife, Janet of Suisun; daughters, Amy and Katie of Suisun; and son, Frank of Suisun.

John Tolentino Bernal

Funeral services for John Tolentino Bernal, 77, of Suisun will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Bernal died on Nov. 24, 1999, at his home in Suisun.

Born on Sept. 26, 1922, in Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he lived in Suisun for the past 38 years. He had previously lived in the Philippines, Guam and Fairfield.

Mr. Bernal served in World War II with the U.S. Army and graduated high school at Santa Maria in the Philippines.

He worked in Manila before moving to Guam. After arriving in the United States, he worked at Travis Air Force Base in civil service as a warehouseman and supply clerk before retiring in 1988.

He was a member of the Filipine American Community of Fairfield, Suisun, Vacaville Inc.; Filipine American Federal Retired Workers Association; Filipine American Pioneers; American Legion No. 502; Manuel L. Quezon No. 603, and Pasquino Organization of Northern California.

Mr. Bernal was an avid fisherman and loved carpentry work.

Mr. Bernal is survived by his wife, Consuelo of Suisun; sons, Sam of Lakewood and John U. of Moreno Valley; daughters, Norma B. Drake of Moreno Valley, Lina Marie of Elk Grove and Florence Janice of Sacramento; sisters, Maria and Leonida T., both of the Philippines; and brothers, Vicente of Oakland and Alfredo of Ontario, Canada.

He also had eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

John A. Henry

A funeral for John A. Henry, 73, of Fairfield will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel Center on Travis Air Force Base.

Chaplain Arthur Homer will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mr. Henry died on Nov. 23, 1999, at David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base.

Born on Sept. 21, 1926, in Greenville, S.C., he lived in Fairfield for the past 30 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam wars in aircraft maintenance, retiring after 23 years of service as chief master sergeant.

Mr. Henry attended Sullivan Street School and graduated from Sterling High School, both in  South Carolina. He also attended Solano College. He enjoyed gardening, reading and learning about aircraft technology.

Mr. Henry is survived by his wife, Louella of Fairfield; daughter, Johnnie Beckett of Vacaville; sisters, Carrie Jones, Mary Holmes and Virginia Oglesby, all of  South Carolina, and Rosa Allgood of Vacaville; brothers, Harry and Samuel, both of Maryland, and Guy of  South Carolina; and grandchildren, Izaiya Beckett of  Texas and De Angelo Beckett of Vacaville.

Ann Elizabeth McKee

A memorial service for Ann Elizabeth McKee, 56, of Fairfield will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela and Solano County Sheriff's Department Chaplain W.B. Barnes will officiate. Inurnment will be private at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Ms. McKee died on Nov. 24, 1999, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Sacramento.

Born on Dec. 1, 1942, in Belfast, Ireland, she lived in Fairfield for the past 25 years after having lived in England for 24 years. She worked for the Solano County Sheriff's Department for 22 years, employed as a correctional sergeant at the time of her death.

Ms. McKee is survived by her companion, Sylvester Herron of Fairfield; daughter, Deborah K. Herron of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Mona and Jamie Hudson of Suisun; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Jacquelyn Herron of Vacaville; mother, Mona of Fairfield; sister, Yvonne M. of Durham, England; and brother, James T. of Gloucester, England. She also had six grandchildren and three nieces.
