John E. Frye

A memorial service for John E. Frye, 58, of Vacaville will be 2:30 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel.

Mr. Frye died Dec. 7, 1999, in Concord.

Born June 21, 1941, in Dallas,  Texas, he resided in Vacaville for three years. He worked for Union Sheet-Metal, Local No. 371, before retiring in 1994.

Mr. Frye enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening.

Mr. Frye is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sondra; daughter, Angel Mitchell Moffett of Santa Rosa; son, Nicholas of Concord; sisters, Cindy of Albuquerque, N.M., and Kathy Brown of Vallejo; brothers, Robert of Redlands, Richard, Terry and Kenny, all of Pittsburg, and Fred of Concord; and two grandchildren.

Contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements were by The Neptune Society of Northern California.

Albert Francis Smith

A funeral for Albert Francis Smith, 78, of Fairfield will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in McCune Garden Chapel.

Pastor Lester Seto of Bethany Lutheran Church will preside. Interment will be private in Orange Township Cemetery in Orange, Iowa.

Mr. Smith died Dec. 6, 1999, in Fairfield after a brief illness.

Born Nov. 15, 1921, in Fairfield, he lived in the Fairfield and Vacaville areas for 74 years. He worked as a sheet metal worker on Mare Island for 41 years. He was a member of the American Legion of Napa.

Mr. Smith enjoyed yard work and making picture frames.

Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marylee and Jim Robinson of Fremont; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today in McCune Garden Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Albert F. Smith Memorial Fund, care of Bethany Lutheran Church, 621 Orchard Ave., Vacaville, 95688.

Salvatore Abbate

A Mass of the Resurrection for Salvatore Abbate, 77, of Vacaville will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Entombment will follow in Fairmont Memorial Park, Fairfield.

Mr. Abbate died Dec. 9, 1999, in VacaValley Hospital after a long illness.

Born Jan. 2, 1922, in New York City, he resided in Vacaville for the past 18 years. He had worked as a laborer employed by Petrillo Road Construction for 20-plus years.

Mr. Abbate is survived by his sons, Santo, Giuseppe and Tony, all of Vacaville, and Roy of New Jersey; daughters, Rose Lane of Oregon and Basilia Licari of Vacaville; sister, Marie Liceri of New York; and 15 grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today with a rosary at 7 p.m. in Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Elisa Alpuerto Caldito

A Mass of Christian Burial for Elisa Alpuerto Caldito, 86, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Spirit Church.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Burial will be in Suisun Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Caldito died Dec. 6, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a long illness.

Born Dec. 27, 1912, in Cebu, Philippine Islands, she lived in Fairfield for 22 years. She graduated from the Philippine School of Fisheries and worked for the Bureau of Fisheries as a senior fishery biologist for 40 years. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield and was active in religious activities.

Mrs. Caldito enjoyed baking and knitting.

Mrs. Caldito is survived by her daughters, Adelaida C. Iglesias of San Francisco, Belen C. Ozanisa of Manila, Philippine Islands, and Elisa C. Carino of Fairfield; son, Vincent A. of Fairfield; sisters, Ernestia A. Cedeno, Persevere C. Alpuerto, Felina C. Alpuerto and Mardonio C. Ciano, all of Manila, Philippine Islands; brothers, Lorenzo Alpuerto of Manila, Philippine Islands, and Bernardino C. Alpuerto of Irvine; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, with a vigil at 7 p.m. Monday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Walter C. Moehrke

Private services are planned for Walter C. Moehrke, 83, of Vacaville.

Mr. Moehrke died Dec. 8, 1999, in Vacaville following a short illness.

Born Nov. 30, 1916, in Kenosha, Wis., he was the third of six children of August and Marie Moehrke. Following a brief stint in the Army during World War II, he moved to Oregon with his wife and children in 1947. A job opportunity brought him to California in 1950, and he later sold Metropolitan Life insurance in Chico, San Rafael and Vacaville.

Mr. Moehrke was the circulation manager for The Reporter from 1963 to 1972, leaving there to work for a local janitorial company. He later owned and operated his own company, Key Janitor, which he sold upon retirement in 1978.

Mr. Moehrke was active in local Boy Scout organizations, serving as a Cubmaster in Marin County and as Scoutmaster for Vacaville Troop 265. He was also an early member of the local Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America group, The Big Vee Showboat Chorus. He enjoyed gardening, singing and his family.

Mr. Moehrke is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Dave Davis of San Anselmo; sons and daughters-in-law, W. Howard and Joan of Napa, Roy and Shirley of Vacaville and James and Deborah of Vacaville; sons, Lawrence of San Rafael and Richard of Sacramento; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; three brothers; and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Trailblazer District, Boy Scouts of America, Golden Empire Council, 251 Commerce Circle, Sacramento, 95815-4292.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Jerry L. Morey

Graveside services for Jerry L. Morey, 61, of Suisun will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in Suisun Fairfield Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by members of the Travis Air Force Base Honor Guard.

The Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 861, of Fairfield will officiate. Burial will be in Suisun Fairfield Cemetery.

Mr. Morey died Dec. 6, 1999, in David Grant Medical Center after a sudden illness.

Born July 12, 1938, in Maysville, Mo., he resided in Suisun for four years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1979, retiring with the rank of master sergeant. He worked for Hughes Aircraft as a senior electronics technician from 1979 to 1991. From 1991 to 1999 he worked for Boeing Aircraft as a flight simulator technician. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, AARP and Moose Lodge No. 861 in Fairfield.

An avid golf fan, Mr. Morey enjoyed gardening and working in the yard.

Mr. Morey is survived by his wife, Sandy of Suisun; daughter, Kelly  Jefferson of Suisun; son, Gerald of Rancho Cucamonga; brothers, Melvin of Norco and Val Ray of Modesto; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mary Elizabeth Olguin

A memorial service for Mary Elizabeth Olguin, 74, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Grace Episcopal Church.

The Rev. John Duncan will officiate. Inurnment will be private in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mrs. Olguin died Dec. 8, 1999, in her home after a long illness.

Born Nov. 25, 1925, in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, she lived in Fairfield for 45 years. She worked as a transport dispatch coordinator at Sharp Army Depot in Lathrop for 10 years, retiring in 1987. She then worked for Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District as a yard duty supervisor at Dover Elementary from 1987 to 1989. After leaving the school district, she worked at Carl's Jr. Restaurant until 1990.

Mrs. Olguin was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and was a founding member of the Altar Guild and Episcopal Church Women's Association. She also was a member of Intercommunity Hospital Guild and a sponsor of Local Campfire Girls Chapter, Sem Yeto Council. A team mom for Pacific Little League for more than 20 years, she was a member of Loyal Order of Eagles, Aberdeen, Wash., from 1973 to 1977. She was an active member of Scarlet Brigade Band Boosters from 1986 to 1990.

Mrs. Olguin is survived by her daughter, Noreen  Johnson of Fairfield; sons, Frank Neal and David Lee, both of  Washington; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Phyllis O'Neal of Post Falls, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to Grace Episcopal Church Building Fund, First and Kentucky streets, Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Jeffrey Preston Rosier

A memorial service for Jeffrey Preston Rosier, 35, of Rodeo will be 10 a.m. today in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Inurnment will be private at Rolling Hills Cemetery in Richmond.

Mr. Rosier died Dec. 9, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.

Born April 11, 1964, in San Pablo, he resided in Rodeo for 35 years. He worked as a foreman for Key Industrial for 15 years. He was very much loved and will be greatly missed.

Mr. Rosier is survived by his son, Levi Preston of Fairfield; parents, Edward and Delia of Rodeo; and sister, Leslie of Fairfield.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Conrad Saburo Shigematsu

There will be no services for Conrad Saburo Shigematsu, 82, of Vacaville at his request. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Shigematsu died Dec. 7, 1999, in Kaiser Hospital after a long illness.

Born Aug. 31, 1917, in Hawaii, he moved to the area 11 years ago. After retiring from the Army, he worked for 30 years as a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the U.S. Postal Union and S.I.R.S.

Mr. Shigematsu enjoyed golfing and fishing.

Mr. Shigematsu is survived by his wife, Darlene of Vacaville; son, Steven of Santa Rosa; son and daughter-in-law, Conrad and Debra of Half Moon Bay; daughter and son-in-law, Casandra and Robert Willis of Belmont; sister, Constance Nishiki of Honolulu; brother, Fred of Pearl City, Hawaii; grandchildren, Camille, Andrew and Tiffany; and stepgrandson, Jeff Austin.

Arrangements were made by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Jon David Wilcox

A gathering of family and friends for Jon David Wilcox, 62, of Hayward will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the home of Randy and Vickie Wilcox.

Mr. Wilcox died Dec. 1, 1999, at his home.

Born June 6, 1937, in Chicago, he lived in Hayward for 59 years. He was a mechanic for Lucky Food Store. He retired in 1994.

Mr. Wilcox was a jack-of-all-trades, who enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles.

Mr. Wilcox is survived by his wife, Marriott of Hayward; daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Gary Lopez and Robin and Jeff Cotter, all of Vacaville; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Vickie of Vacaville; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by the Neptune Society of Northern California.
