E.H. Paul Bekemeyer

A memorial service for the Rev. E.H. Paul Bekemeyer, 84, of Vacaville will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Bethany Lutheran Church. The Rev. Lester Seto will officiate.

Mr. Bekemeyer died on Dec. 9, 1999.

Born on Sept. 8, 1915, he served at several Lutheran congregations as pastor. He served in Gollonda and Harrisburg, Ill., from 1940-44; Nokomis, Ill., 1944-52; Danville, Ill., 1953-57; Champaign, Ill., 1957-61; Royal Oak, Mich., 1961-69; Battle Creek, Mich., 1969-72; and in Vacaville at Bethany Lutheran Church from 1972-80.

He also served as a pastor in retirement as interim pastor at churches in Gardenville, Nev.; Wahiawa, Hawaii; Hilo, Hawaii; Honolulu; Auburn; Folsom; and Mill Valley. He served is a variety of capacities in the California/Nevada/Hawaii District of the Lutheran Church, and Missouri Synod.

He was a member of the Bethany Niners Golf League and was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants.

Mr. Bekemeyer is survived by his wife of 60 years, Verna; daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis Bekemeyer and Dale Bailey of Albany, and Beverly and John Kile of Vacaville; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Maureen of Seattle, and Thomas and Melissa of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; sister, Luetta; sisters and brothers-in-law, Celia and Bill Leitner of Edwardsville, Ill., and Ruth and Udell Henschen of Edwardsville, Ill; and brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Gerri of Ballwin, Mo. He also had 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bethany Lutheran Church.

Adam John Martian

A Celebration of Life for Adam John Martian, 65, of Suisun will be 1:30 p.m. Dec. 19 in Unity Church of the Valley.

Pastor Vic Jenkins will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Martian died Dec. 8, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after an illness.

Born Nov. 12, 1934, in Belfield, N.D., he lived in Solano County for 25 years. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Rainier and retired in 1990 from the Civil Service Corps of Engineers. He owned Adam's Services in Suisun.

Mr. Martian is survived by his wife, Nancy of Suisun; son, James of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Donna of Vacaville; grandchildren, Jessica of Fairfield and Emily and Adam, both of Vacaville; sisters, Agnes Ott of Yakima, Wash., Anne Hood of Vancouver, Wash., Lea Balch of Red Bluff and Eva Netherda of Goldendale, Wash.; brothers, Leonard of Selah, Wash., and Fred of Vancouver, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Unity Church of the Valley, 350 N. Orchard, Vacaville.

Arrangements are by Fairfield Funeral Home.

Lillian Virginia Villar

No services will be held for Lillian Virginia Villar, 71, of Fairfield. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Villar died Dec. 7, 1999, after a brief illness at NorthBay Medical Center.

Born Sept. 1, 1928, in Denver, she resided in Fairfield for 20 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Villar is survived by her longtime companion, Larry Wilson of Fairfield; sister and brother-in-law, Jonine and Lloyd John Morrison of Sebastopol; and brother, Robert Quintana of Lathrop.

Arrangements are under the direction of Solano Valley Mortuary.

Norma O. Zonfrello

A funeral for Norma O. Zonfrello, 86, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at McCune Garden Chapel. Pastor Lester Seto of Bethany Lutheran Church will preside. Burial will follow at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Born Jan. 17, 1913, in Twin Falls, Minn., Mrs. Zonfrello died Dec. 9, 1999, in Lodi after a long illness. She lived in Richmond for 45 years before moving to Vacaville in 1996. She was a member of the Richmond Moose Lodge for 45 years. She was a homemaker all her life, and enjoyed cooking and baking with her grandchildren. She was known for her good sense of humor

Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis Dye of Vacaville; sons, Phil Zonfrello of Vacaville and Robert Zonfrello of Pleasant Hill; sister, Alma Mortonsbach of Minnesota; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

David John Olson

Funeral services for David John Olson, 41, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fairmont Memorial Park Chapel in Fairfield.

Pastor David Alvarez will officiate. Entombment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

Mr. Olson died on Dec. 8, 1999, at his home in Fairfield.

Born on Oct. 29, 1958, in Nogales, Ariz., he lived in Fairfield for the past 15 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1983 to 1989. He was a seaman and served aboard the USS Flint. He graduated from Western High School in Las Vegas and was pursuing a degree in computer science at Solano Community College.

He worked as a carpet installer for Union East Bay Carpet, Linoleum and Soft Tile Layers for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing and computers attended the First Pentecostal Church of Fairfield.

Mr. Olson is survived by his wife, Susan J. of Fairfield; twin daughters, April M. and Amber N., both of Fairfield; grandmother, Carmen Downs of Nogales, Ariz.; sister, Debbie Gallien of Boulder City, Nev.; and brother, Darrell Wegscheid of Kingman, Ariz.

Kenneth E. Anderson

There will be no service held for Kenneth E. Anderson, 55, of Vacaville at his request.

Mr. Anderson died Dec. 10, 1999, at his home after a sudden illness.

Born May 19, 1944, in Vallejo, he resided in Vacaville.

He worked for Sierra Pacific Construction Co.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his daughter, Beth of American Canyon and a brother, Mike Cotter of Vallejo.

Arrangements are by the Neptune Society of Northern California, Fairfield.

Ruth 'Colleen' Cafiero

A memorial service for Ruth (Colleen) Cafiero, 63, of Fairfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Cafiero died Dec. 11, 1999, in her home after a long illness.

Born Jan. 19, 1936, in Nampa, Idaho, she resided in Solano County for 33 years.

She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Cafiero enjoyed raising African violets, sewing, home decorating, dolls and embroidery.

Mrs. Cafiero is survived by her husband, L.J. (Joe) of Fairfield; daughter, Shiril G. Colton of Springfield, Mo.; sons, Randal P. Satterfield of Charlotte, N.C. and Scott Satterfield of Belmont; sister, Peggy A. Griswald of Modesto; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Vercie Cole

A funeral for Vercie Cole, 84, of Vacaville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in McCune Garden Chapel.

Pastor Larry Andrews of Park Haven Baptist Church will preside.

Interment will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Cole died Dec. 10, 1999, in VacaValley Hospital after a long illness.

Born Sept. 9, 1915, in Hasty, Ark., she lived in Vacaville for 45 years.

She retired after 20 years as a forewoman with Basic Vegetable.

She was a member of the Founders Club of Vacaville.

Mrs. Cole enjoyed gardening and taking care of her indoor and outdoor plants.

Mrs. Cole is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Smith of Vacaville, Betty Hester of Salem, Ore., and Sarah Smith of Galesburg, Ill.; sons, John Dennis of Winters and William Kenneth of Nevada; sisters, Loeida Watts and Geneva Hill, both of Pinole; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo and a son, James Cleo.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today in McCune Garden Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association Region IV, 631 Howard St., Suite 520, San Francisco, 94105-3907.

Gladys M. Flynt

At the request of the family, there will be no formal services for Gladys M. Flynt, 84, of Fairfield.

Inurnment will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Lake City,  Colo., at a later date.

Mrs. Flynt died Dec. 11, 1999, in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born Dec. 4, 1915, in Lake City, she lived in Fairfield for 46 years.

She received her teaching credential at Western State,  Colo. and taught at Sapinero,  Colo., for two years. She was a homemaker for 59 years.

She was past worthy matron of Eastern Star of Lake City, a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Fairfield.

She enjoyed painting, sculpture and loved to fish when in Colorado.

Mrs. Flynt is survived by her husband of 59 years, Byron of Fairfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Dana and Robert Lozano of Windsor and Susan and Flloyd Ridenhour of Healdsburg; son and daughter-in-law, David and Donna of Escondido; sisters, Lucile Hutchings of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Helen Ewart of Trinidad; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa, 95402.

Arrangements were made by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Stephen Rybinsky Ryan

A funeral for Stephen Rybinsky Ryan, 76, of Benton, Ky., will be held at 9 a.m. today at St. Henry Catholic Church in Benton.

The Rev. Richard Cash will officiate. Burial will be in Benton Cemetery.

Mr. Ryan died Dec. 12, 1999, in the VA Medical Center in Marion, Ill.

Mr. Ryan was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He also worked as an auto body repairman.

He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, a charter member of Knights of Columbus and a member of Legion of Mary Auxiliary at St. Henry.

Mr. Ryan is survived by his daughters, Janice Bostwick of Eagle Point, Ore., and Pauline Daniel of Oakland; sons, Jeffery Alan and Stephen Paul, both of Vacaville, and Jim of Benton; sisters, Kathryn Hoyson and Ann Preiss, both of Hiland, Ind.; nephew, Stephen Priess of Camarillo; niece, Laura Katso of Hammon, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Rodrigues Ryan; father, Paul Rybinsky; mother, Rose Janowski Rybinsky; and brother, Paul Rybinsky.

Arrangements were made by Collier Funeral Home of Benton.

Paul R. Wood

Memorial services for Paul R. Wood, 53, of Vacaville will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Christian Church of Vacaville.

Elaine Lehr will officiate.

Mr. Wood died Dec. 11, 1999, in Lancaster, Pa., after a sudden illness.

Born Sept. 21, 1946, in Paradise, he moved to the area in 1975.

He was a Vietnam veteran and worked at Exxon in Benicia for 15 years.

Mr. Wood enjoyed music, reading, photography, the holidays and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Trysha Stiffler and Tinielle, both of Vacaville; brother, Rodger of Venice, Wayne of Berkeley and Glen of Sunnyvale; sister, Gail of Chico; and two grandsons of Vacaville.

Memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or the donor's favorite charity.
