Edward Raposa

A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward Raposa, 76, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Bill Feeser will officiate. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Vaca Hills Chapel, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

Mr. Raposa died on Feb. 19, 2000, at VacaValley Hospital after a long illness.

Born on Feb. 20, 1923, in Fall River, Mass., he moved to the area 42 years ago. He served as an E-9 with the U.S. Air Force for 22 years before retiring. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Raposa is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Karen of San Marcos; grandchildren, Steven J. and Juana of San Marcos, and Angelique and Mike Brown of San Marcos; great-grandchildren, Eric and Briana; and brother, Alfred of Fall River, Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Mary's Church Food Bank.

Josephine R. Della Santa

A funeral for Josephine R. Della Santa, 87, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Entombment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield, with a vigil to be recited at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Della Santa died on Feb. 19, 2000, in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born on April 2, 1912, in San Francisco, she lived in Fairfield for the past 61 years. She attended business school and worked at Bank of America before becoming a self-employed bookkeeper at Hunters Rexall drug store. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed cooking. She was a member of YLI-Holy Spirit Church, Wednesday Club and NorthBay Hospital Guild.

Mrs. Della Santa is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothea and James Rocheleau of Fairfield and Victoria and Steve Geary of San Rafael; sister, Lena Carolla of San Carlos; grandsons, Donald Rocheleau of Hillsboro, Ore., and Edward Geary of Novato; granddaughters, Deborah Medeiros of Colorado, Karen Geary of San Rafael; great-grandson, A.J. Rocheleau of Hillsboro, great-granddaughters, Lynette Paz of Vacaville and Katie and Sierra Geary of Novato; and great-great-granddaughter, Dominique Paz of Vacaville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association, c/o NorthBay Healthcare Foundation, 1200 B. Gale Wilson Blvd., Fairfield, 94533.

Jerney Thomas Trolinder

A funeral for Jerney Thomas Trolinder, 94, of Vallejo will be 1 p.m. Friday at Skyview Funeral Chapel in Vallejo. The Masonic Lodge Naval No. 87 F&AM will officiate. Burial will be at Skyview Memorial Lawn in Vallejo. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.

Mr. Trolinder died on Feb. 19, 2000, at a local hospital after a short illness.

Born on May 6, 1905, in St. Jo, Texas, he lived in Vallejo for 40 years. He worked as a mechanic and machinist at Mare Island Naval Shipyard and Travis Air Force Base for a total of 35 years before retiring in 1970. He was a cotton gin farmer in Texas and started a cotton gin in Brownfield, Texas. He moved to California in 1941 and worked at Kaiser Steel until 1946. He built the 4th Street Garage in 1946 and converted the garage to a grocery store in 1947, calling it the 4th Street Food Center, before it was eventually called Sonoma Self Service. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Naval No. 87 F&AM, Molino Chapter No. 83 of Los Molinos and OES.

Mr. Trolinder is survived by his daughter, Navella Carey of Vacaville; sons, Steve of Vacaville, Printess of Vallejo, Kenneth of American Canyon, Wayland of Spanaway, Wash, and Emmitt of Napa; sisters, Lucille Bradley of Lubbock, Texas, Loni McCullough of Idalou, Texas, and Cleo Thornton of Bonham, Texas; and brothers, Joel of Fresno and Clifford of Quanah, Texas. He also had 26 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, LuVee; and son, Levert.

Helen Pearl Turgeon

A funeral for Helen Pearl Turgeon, 84, of Vacaville will be held at noon today in the Alamo Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Elder William Sherman Turgeon will officiate. Burial will follow in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Jan. 13, 1916, in Mount Vernon, Ill., Mrs. Turgeon died Feb. 19, 2000, in VacaValley Hospital after a sudden illness.

She lived in Vacaville for the past 46 years.

She retired from Basic Vegetable after more than 20 years of employment. She taught in Iowa for a year and was an accomplished seamstress her entire adult life.

During World War II, she worked as a journeyman welder in a Richmond shipyard.

She belonged to the Over the Hill Motorcycle Club and was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader.

She co-managed the First Allendale Little League Team and was a member of the 3rd Nights Club in Vacaville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard, in February 1987.

She is survived by her daughters, Sarnona 'Terri' Stell of Vacaville, Sandra Nichols of Indiana, Debbera Painter of Vacaville; son, William Sherman of Vacaville; sister, Dorothea Littrell of Denver; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Raleigh Max Wentworth

At his request, no formal services were held for Raleigh Max Wentworth, 77, of Fairfield. Burial was at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mr. Wentworth died on Jan. 25, 2000, at David Grant Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born on Nov. 22, 1922, in Mulvane, Kansas, he lived in Fairfield for the past 39 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1949, during World War II, before serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War before retiring in 1964 after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading. He was a loving father and grandfather.

Mr. Wentworth is survived by his stepdaughter, Carol Engel of Scottsdale, Ariz.; stepson, Lawrence N. Williams of Boise, Idaho; sister, Mary Flagler of Mulvane; and brother, Jack Wentworth of Seattle. He also had eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Dr. John Bernard Hartman

A memorial service for Dr. John Bernard Hartman, 38, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Putah Creek Lodge on the University of California, Davis, campus.

Mr. Hartman, the son of John and Sandra Hartman of Vacaville, died in the crash of Kenya Airways Flight 431 on Jan. 29, 2000, off the Ivory Coast.

Born on March 2, 1962, in Oakland, he moved to Africa in October 1997 after graduating from UC Davis. He was in Africa doing research under a grant from the International Institute of Agriculture. He was on his way to a conference in Nigeria from his home in Uganda when the plane crashed. His family was still at their home in Uganda when the accident happened.

Mr. Hartman is survived by his wife, Dr. Miriam Kaplan of Africa; children, Clara and Noah of Africa; parents, John and Sandra Hartman of Vacaville; brother and sister-in-law, David and Karen of Gardnerville, Nev.; sister and brother-in-law, Tamara and Troy White of Virginia; and aunts and uncles, Wil and Betty Jo Thomas of Newcastle, Paul and Helen Horton of Turlock and Robert and Kay of Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the John Hartman Memorial Scholarship Fund, care of V. Rose, 1440 Bluethroat Drive, Turlock, 95382.

Harry Q. Johnson

Graveside services for Harry Q. Johnson, 91, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Friday at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Pastor Stan Sanderson will officiate. Burial will follow at the cemetery.

Mr. Johnson died on Feb. 19, 2000, in Vacaville after a sudden illness.

Born on Jan. 25, 1909, in Whittier, he was a resident of Vacaville since 1973. He started with BF Goodrich in the Northwest region right out of college and worked his way up to regional manager. He was based in Portland before retiring with 41 years of service. He enjoyed golfing, tennis and music. He was a band leader and a saxophone player. He was also devoted to his cats.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Christine of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy K. and Darrell Horn of Santa Rosa; sons and daughters-in-law, Hayes Q. and Melinda of Vacaville and Marshall L. and Connie of Eugene, Ore.; and grandchildren, Randy Horn of Los Angeles, Darcy Horn of San Francisco, Bailey of Granite Bay and Casey and Ross of Eugene.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa, 95402.

Arrangements are being handled by McCune Garden Chapel.

Lonnie Lee Maston

Funeral services for Lonnie Lee Maston, 67, of Suisun City will be 1 p.m. Friday at Solano Valley Mortuary in Fairfield. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.

Mr. Maston died on Feb. 19, 2000, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Sacramento after a long illness.

Born on Sept. 6, 1932, in Omaha, Neb., he served in the U.S. Air Force and worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard before retiring.

Mr. Maston is survived by his wife, Rogelia M. of Suisun City; daughter, Maria Ackles of Sacramento; sons, Dale of Boston, Lonnie F. of Sacramento and Robert D. of Suisun City; sisters, Barbara Thomas of Compton and Betty of Bakersfield; brothers, Leverious of Junction City, Kansas, and Fred of St. Louis; and grandchildren, Kandis, Delon and Akira.

Donald Vincent McCann

Memorial services for Donald Vincent McCann, 46, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Ben De Leon will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. McCann died on Feb. 19, 2000, at his home in Vacaville after a short illness.

Born on June 20, 1953, in Hayward, he lived in Vacaville for the past 20 years. He owned and operated McCann Painting for eight years and worked for the Oakland Unified School District for 16 years. He was a loving father and grandfather. He graduated from Central Valley High School in 1971 and played baseball and softball for many years. Baseball was his first love.

Mr. McCann is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Jeremy Matheny of Vacaville; daughters, Lisa Gonzales of Pinole and Molly of Chico; sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Kelly of Redding and Donald Allen and Nicole of Vacaville; son, Cory of Pinole; parents, David H. and Josephine of Hood River, Ore.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Les Oesterreich of Dixon, Ginger and Larry Slape of Redding and Colleen and Robert Hernandez of Redding; brothers and sisters-in-law, David T. and Dava Dee of Manteca, Dennis and Linda of Vacaville and Douglas and Laura of Vallejo; and devoted companion, Patty Resan of Vacaville. He also had seven grandchildren.

John Henry Blue Jr.

A memorial service for John Henry Blue Jr., 66, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private.

Born April 8, 1933, in Brownsville, Texas, Mr. Blue died Feb. 23, 2000, in Fairfield after a long illness.

He lived in Fairfield for 15 years and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War for two years. He also worked for the city of Richmond and Solano County. He retired from Bay Area Title Services in November.

Mr. Blue enjoyed fishing, trips to Reno and working in his garden. He will be missed for his gentleness, sense of humor, caring spirit and his smile.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie of Fairfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Stan Arterberry of Vacaville and Kim and Joseph Davis of Vallejo; daughter, Alicia Coleman of Oakland; sons, Jon of Glenn Dale, Md., and Andre of Alaska; sister, Ollie Moore of Decatur, Ill.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Harry David Branham

Memorial services for Harry David Branham, 63, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Pastor Chuck McKinney will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Branham died on Feb. 21, 2000, at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield.

Born on Nov. 29, 1936, in Missouri, he lived in Fairfield for the past 30 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and worked for Grove Value & Regulator for 30 years as a machinist. He also owned and operated H&K Burgers in Lakeside, Ore. He was a member of the Fairfield Moose Lodge and Oakland Machinist Union.

Mr. Branham is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Sacramento; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Rosemary and Joe and Jill, all of Fairfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Monica and Dave George of Patterson and Theresa and John Dillbeck of Fairfield; sisters, Betty Kilkowski of Illinois and Bonnie Foust and Virginia Lee, both of Missouri; cousin, Jack of Fairfield; and grandchildren, Kimberly of Berkeley and Matthew of Fairfield. He also had one great-grandchild.

Richard Carl 'Dick' Dakin

A memorial service was held for Richard Carl 'Dick' Dakin, 72, of Vacaville on Tuesday in Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated. Inurnment was private.

Mr. Dakin died Feb. 13, 2000, in his home after a long illness.

Born Aug. 24, 1927, in Tacoma, Wash., he resided in Vacaville for 41 years. He worked as the assistant deputy chief of staff of Air Transportation Headquarters with the 15th Air Force and 22nd Military Airlift Command for 45 years, which began in 1950 at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma then continued at Travis in Fairfield. He received a bachelor's degree in psychology/sociology in 1950 from University of Puget Sound. He joined the Travis Federal Credit Union in 1965 where he spent the next 32 years. He was vice president from 1971 to 1977 and president/board chairman from 1978 to 1988. He served in one of the founding board positions.

Mr. Dakin was an avid golfer and tennis player. A devoted father, he was adored by his grandchildren.

Mr. Dakin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Toni of Tacoma, sons and daughters-in-law, Richard K. and Shayne of Vacaville and Robert and Diane of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Rick Marsh of Vacaville; and grandchildren, Kristopher and Eric of Vacaville, Patrick and Matthew of Knoxville and Jeremy and Jenny Marsh of Vacaville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the charity of one's choice.
