Dorothy Mae Stoughton

GREENFIELD
Dorothy Mae Stoughton, 82, of Greenfield, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at George L. Mee Memorial Hospital, King City after a lengthy illness.

She was born in San Miguel and was a lifelong resident of Monterey County. She was a homemaker. She graduated from King City High School in 1936 and attended Santa Barbara State College. She was voted Greenfield Mother of the Year in 1993 and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Stoughton, in 1994.

Memberships: Greenfield Methodist Church, where she was extremely active. President of United Methodist Women and Parent Teachers Association.

Survivors: Daughters, Carol LaVelle of King City, Janet Howe of Lees-Summit, Mo., and Debbie Arbrun of Greenfield; sons, Mel Stoughton of Greenfield and Arthur Stoughton of Mission Viejo; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services: Memorial services 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Greenfield United Methodist Church, Ninth and Palm streets, Greenfield.

Cremation: Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Memorials: Greenfield Methodist Church, 237 Ninth St., Greenfield 93927; George L. Mee Memorial Hospital, 300 Canal St., King City 93930; or the donor's favorite charity.

Juanita Vivanco

GONZALES
Juanita Vivanco, 84, of Gonzales, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital after an illness.

She was born in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico, and lived in Gonzales for 10 years. She was a homemaker.

Survivors: Daughters, Aurora Arriaga and Cristina Arriaga, both of Gonzales, and Rosario Rivera of Delhi; son, Jesus Carlos Vivanco of Salinas; sister, Teresa Vivanco of Mexico; 33 grandchildren; and 75 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 21, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Rosary: 5 p.m. today, Dec. 21, at the mortuary chapel.

Services: Final visitation at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at the mortuary chapel followed by procession to Christ the King Church, 240 Calle Cebu, Salinas for the funeral Mass at 2 p.m.

Burial: Following services at Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Trinidad B. Ortiz

SALINAS
Trinidad B. Ortiz, 83, of Salinas, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Falfurrias, Texas, and lived in Salinas for 35 years. She was a homemaker for 65 years.

Survivors: Sons, Pete Ortiz of Salinas, Guadalupe Ortiz of Texas and Rene Ortiz of Washington; daughters, Genoveva Zepeda, Maria Ortiz and Victoria Castillo, all of Salinas, Trini Gonzales and Manuela Ramos, both of Texas, Jesusa Rodriguez of Prunedale, and Monica Maldonado and Andrea Valdez, both of Washington; sisters, Maria Castillo and Dora Salinas, both of Texas; 32 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Dec. 21, at Whitehurst Muller Funeral Chapel, East Alisal and Pajaro streets, Salinas.

Rosary: 7 p.m. today, Dec. 21, at the mortuary chapel.

Mass: 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Madonna del Sasso Church, 320 E. Laurel Drive, Salinas.

Burial: Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Betty N. Lazzaroni

SALINAS
Betty N. Lazzaroni, 70, of Salinas, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Rexburg, Idaho, was a former resident of Greenfield and King City and had lived in Salinas since 1970. She was a 1948 graduate of King City High School and enjoyed reading and wood carving.

Survivors: Husband of 50 years, Mario A. Lazzaroni of Salinas; daughters, Cathy Venuti, Mary Machado and Emily Bostwick, all of Salinas; brother, George Hill of Mesquite, Texas; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services: Memorial services 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Struve and Laporte Funeral Home, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas.

Memorials: American Lung Association of the Central Coast, 550 Camino El Estero, Monterey 93940.

Dorothy V. DePorto

SALINAS
Dorothy V. DePorto, 86, of Salinas, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Salinas and was a lifelong resident. She had worked for Oscar Daley's Bootery, Evelyn Cunha Woman Wear and for Bank of America. She enjoyed gardening, reading and her family. She was the daughter of John and Rosa DePorto, pioneer Blanco-area farmers.

Memberships: Sacred Heart Catholic Church and charter member of Entre Nous.

Survivors: Sister, Constance F. Park of Salinas; niece, Francesca Park Henderson of Salinas; nephew, Stephen Park of Ukiah; grandnephews, Scott Henderson of Salinas, Mark Henderson of Carmichael and Matthew Park of Berkeley; and grandniece, Frieda Park of Ukiah.

Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. today, Dec. 21, at Struve and Laporte Funeral Home, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas.

Vigil service: 7 p.m. today, Dec. 21, at the mortuary.

Mass: 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Sacred Heart Church, 22 Stone St., Salinas.

Placement of ashes: Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Memorials: VNA Hospice, 957-A Blanco Circle, Salinas 93901.

Robert V. Barron

SALINAS
Robert V. Barron, 67, of Salinas, died Dec. 1, 2000, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was born in Charleston, W.V., formerly lived in Burbank and lived in Salinas for six years. He was an actor, director and writer. His last acting performance was Abraham Lincoln in the movie "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure." In his early career he worked in regional theater and on television, spending two seasons on "The Red Skelton Hour." As a writer he was nominated for an Emmy Award for "Hoss and the Lephrechans" from the TV show Bonanza. He adapted English dubbing scripts of foreign films and was a pioneer in the industry of taking Japanese animated series and dubbing them into English. He was executive director and story editor for Saban Productions. He attended Morris Harvey College in Charleston, W. V., and the University of California, Los Angeles, as a theater arts major. He loved his cats, Shasta and Nicki.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Opal Barron.

Survivors: Wife of 21 years, Dayna-Pearson Barron of Salinas; brother, John Barron of West Virginia; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; and three nephews.

Services: No services are planned.

Arrangements: Struve and Laporte Funeral Home, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas.

Cecelia Anne Hayes

KING CITY
Cecelia Anne Hayes, 77, of King City, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born in King City and was a lifelong resident. She was a retired bookkeeper, self-employed with Dan Hayes, Builder. She was an outstanding cook. Besides raising her children she helped her husband, Dan, with their family-owned business, Dan Hayes, Builder, from 1962 to 1989. She enjoyed reading, walking, traveling, playing cards and going on trips. She was a kind-hearted person and her door was always open. She was always willing to help others.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, John LaVelle, Paul "Dick" LaVelle and Steven LaVelle; and sister, Jeannette Sharer.

Memberships: St. John's Catholic Church, parish member, past altar society member and, when the church had its own school, helped out there as well.

Survivors: Husband, Dan Hayes of King City;' sons, Patrick A. Hayes of San Diego and Matthew D. Hayes of King City; daughters, Anne E. Jones of Three Rivers, Mary K. Harbin of King City, Ellen Thorp of Salinas and Julie M. Hayes of Vacaville; and 13 grandchildren.

Visitation: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Dec. 21, at Whitehurst Grim Funeral Chapel, 429 Bassett, King City.

Rosary: 7 p.m. today, Dec. 21, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St., King City,

Mass: 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at the church.

Burial: King City district cemetery.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, George L. Mee Memorial Hospital, 300 Canal St., King City 93930; or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Memorial Fund, 504 N. Third St., King City 93930.

Annabelle Glidden

Annabelle Glidden, 92, of Salinas, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital after an illness.
She was born in Homer, Neb., and lived in Salinas for 31 years. She was a homemaker.

Survivors: Daughter, Donna Marie Glidden of Salinas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services: Memorial services 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at Calvary Community Church, 8145 Prunedale Road North, Salinas.

Cremation: Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Placement of ashes: Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene, Ore.

Joanne Hollak

Joanne Hollak, 64, of Monterey, died Jan. 26, 2001, at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula after a nine-month illness.
She was born Cañon City, Colo., and lived in Monterey for 10 years. She was a registered nurse and worked with home health and hospice patients until her retirement in 1998.

Survivors: Brothers, Joseph R. Hollak of Sacramento and D. David (Brooke) Hollak of San Jose; nephews, Joseph K. (Shelby) Hollak of Portland, Ore., Brian K. Hollak of Fresno and Darren C. Hollak of San Jose.

Services: Memorial services 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at St. Christopher Church in San Jose with a reception to follow.

Tami J. Crotty

Tami J. Crotty, 36, of Salinas, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at her home after a yearlong illness.
She was born in Los Angeles and lived in Salinas for one year. She was a bartender. She formerly lived in Fallon, Nev.

Survivors: Son, Michael Crotty of Salinas; mother, Doris Farley of Salinas; father, Raymond Farley of Tucson, Ariz.; sister, Dorice Farley of Salinas; and paternal grandmother, Bernice Russell of San Fernando.

Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at the mortuary chapel.

Burial: Following at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas.

Ruby L. Zachary

Ruby L. Zachary, 69, of Yuma, Ariz., died Jan. 22, 2001, at Yuma after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Hale Center, Texas, and was a lifelong resident of Salinas. She was a homemaker. She loved her family, crafts and bingo.

Survivors: Sons, Cary Zachary of Sacramento, Keith Zachary of Salinas and Kirk Zachary of Gilbert, Ariz.; brother, Glen Tucker of Salinas; sister, Betty Martin of Yuma; six grandchildren.
