Troy D. Collins

Troy D. Collins, 76, of Salinas, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Wolf City, Texas, and lived in Salinas for 52 years. He was a retired mechanic with Irwin Ford in Salinas for 15 years. He enjoyed playing bocci ball with friends at Alisal Country Estates Park. He had farm animals that he entered in the Kiddie Kapers Parade for many years and many remember his pet pig. He attended Church of the Rock in Salinas.

Survivors: Sister, Cora Fretwell of Salinas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, April 9, at Garden of Memories Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Burial: At the cemetery.

Arrangements: Struve and Laporte Funeral Home, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas.

Apolonia Orozco Jimenez

Apolonia Orozco Jimenez, 75, of Fresno, died of natural causes Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Fresno Community Hospital.
She was born in Saginaw, Texas and lived in Gonzales from 1959 to 1993. She was a homemaker. She was a born again Christian and loved Jesus. She was preceded in death by her son, Fernando J. Jimenez, and brother, Hector Jimenez.

Survivors: Son, Arturo J. Montoya of Oklahoma; daughters, Yolanda J. Gonzales of Salinas, Lilia H. Torres and Sonia J. Regalado, both of Clovis, and Sandra J. Aguirre of Fresno; brothers, Francisco Jimenez of Gonzales, Eusebio Jimenez of Soledad and Carlos Jimenez of Santa Ana; sisters, Mercedes Montoya of Mexicali, Mexico, Godeva Jimenez of Salinas and Asuncion Montes of Coachella; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation: From 4 to 9 p.m. today, April 6, at The Palm Colonial Chapel, Fresno.

Services: 8 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at The Cornerstone Church, Fresno.

Burial: Belmont Memorial Park, Fresno.

Memorials: Cornerstone Church, 1445 Fulton St., Fresno 93721.

Irvin James Warren

Irvin James Warren, 86, of Paoli, Ind., died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at his son's home in Paoli.
He was born in Boston, Ark., and was a former Salinas resident. He was a claims adjuster with Southern Pacific Railroad Co. in Salinas and a retired school teacher from Prunedale School. His brothers, Layton Warren and Gordon Warren, preceded him in death.

Military service: U.S. Air Force, veteran of World War II.

Memberships: Former member of Pentecostal Church of God in Salinas and member of Orleans Cornerstone Pentecostal Church.

Survivors: Wife of 49 years, Opal Warren of Paoli; sons, Paul Warren of Paoli and Lonnie Warren of Boise, Idaho; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services: Have been held.

Burial: Stampers Creek Cemetery.

Arrangements: McAdams Mortuary Inc., Paoli, Ind.

Thelma Ellen Bailey

Thelma Ellen Bailey, 93, of Salinas, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at her home.
She was born in Oklahoma City and was a longtime resident of Pebble Beach and lived in Salinas for four years. She was an elementary school teacher in England through the Full Bright Exchange for 45 years. Her hobbies were choir, Gentrain and P.E.O.

Survivors: Grandchildren, Stephen Janus Edwards of Salinas and Timothy Dale Edwards of Sherman Oaks.

Services: 10 a.m. today, May 14, at Whitehurst Muller Funeral Chapel, East Alisal Street and Pajaro Street, Salinas.

Burial: Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Memorials: Church of the Wayfarer, Carmel.

Inocencio Padua Cabading

Inocencio Padua Cabading, 93, of Chualar, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at his home after a brief illness.
He was born in Manila, the Philippines, and lived in the Salinas Valley for 47 years. He was an irrigator.

Survivors: Daughter, Marina Gonzales of Sacramento; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services: Graveside services 3 p.m. Friday, May 11, at Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Arrangements: Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Julia Bell McKenzie Moore

Julia Bell McKenzie Moore, 80, of Salinas, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Salinas Care Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born in West Point, Texas, and lived in Salinas for a year. She was a homemaker.

Survivors: Son, John Grant of Salinas; sister, Bertha M. Collins of Salinas; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Healey Mortuary Chapel, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Placement of ashes: Plum Grove Cemetery, West Point, Texas.

Cremation: Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Paul M. Nelson

Paul M. Nelson, 70, of Campbell, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at his home.
He was born in Armour, S.D., and was a lifelong resident of Campbell. He graduated from San Jose Tech in 1948, interviewed and employed by NASA Lab where he worked until his retirement. He was preceded in death by Wesley Dethrow.

Memberships: Home Lodge Charity No. 362 since October 1957 and served as master in 1965.

Survivors: Wife, Lillian; daughter-in-law, Liz Dethrow; brothers, Hugh, Phillip and Roy; grandchildren, Samantha Dethrow, Kayli Ward, Alicia Rabadon; Kent Walters, Paul Robert Ervin Walters, Mark Walters, Jason Walters, Brian Walters and Cary (Celeste) Ward; many nieces and nephews; and Zeola Ward and Ginger Walters, whom he loved as his own.

Services: Memorial services 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, The Odd Fellows Temple, 276 E. Campbell Ave., Campbell, given by his brothers and family.

Memorials: American Cancer Society, 1184 Monroe St. Suite 1, Salinas or Kidney Foundation.

Thomas J. Tutt

Thomas J. Tutt, U.S. Army, Ret., 59, of Marina, died of a heart attack May 2, 2001, on the walking path in Marina.
He was born in Virginia and lived in Marina. His hobbies included exercise, the lottery and watching TV. He was a casual man who enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his grandchildren.

Military service: Retired in 1992 from the Army following 29 years of service, 1st Sgt. NCOIC Troop Medical Clinic. He was a medic and served in Vietnam and Korea.

Survivors: Wife of 33 years, Kum Song Tutt of Marina; daughter, Victoria Tutt of Marina; sister, Victoria E. Veney of Virginia; and grandchildren, Ashley, Marissa, Thomas, Bryanna and Norman.

Placement of ashes: Graveside placement of ashes 10 a.m. Friday, May 11, at Mission Memorial Park, 1915 Ord Grove Ave., Seaside, with honors provided by the Defense Language Institute volunteer honors team.

Arrangements: Monterey Peninsula Mortuary, 1915 Ord Grove Ave., Seaside.

Josefa F. Urzua

Josefa F. Urzua, 81, of Salinas, died of congestive heart failure Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Tepatitlan, Mexico, and lived in Salinas for 38 years. She was a homemaker.

Survivors: Daughters, Rosalba Lopez of Salinas, Blanca Urzua of Mexico, Gloria Garcia of Yuma, Ariz., and Irma Bolstad of Burke, Va.; sons, Isidro Urzua of Salinas and Jesus Urzua of Dixon; sisters, Guadalupe Franco of Mexico and Sofia Franco of Visalia; brothers, Tranguilino Franco of Los Angeles, and Jesus Franco and Francisco Franco, both of Mexico; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, May 10, at Whitehurst Muller Funeral Chapel, East Alisal and Pajaro Streets, Salinas.

Rosary: 7 p.m. today, May 10, at the mortuary chapel.

Visitation: From 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 12, and from 1 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 13, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Rosary: 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 13, at the mortuary chapel.

Services: Final visitation 1 p.m. Monday, May 14, at the mortuary chapel followed by procession to Sacred Heart Church, 22 Stone St., Salinas, for the funeral Mass at 2 p.m.

Burial: Following at Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

William R. Bailey

William R. Bailey, 78, of Anchorage, Alaska, died Friday, April 20, 2001, in West Seattle, Wash.
He was born in Erskine, Minn., and lived in Anchorage. He was a graduate of Everett High School, Everett, Wash., University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, Wash., and received his master's degree in psychology from the University of Alaska. He retired in 1979 from the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. He enjoyed the outdoors and traveling. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, and one grandson.

Military service: Decorated combat veteran serving in World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors: Children, Mary Baker of Salinas, Bill Bailey of West Seattle, Jeanne O'Donnell of Portland, Texas, Ross Bailey of Bow, Wash., and Daniel Bailey of Bellingham, Wash.; stepsons, Frank Hoffmann and David Hoffmann, both of Anchorage; one brother; three sisters; many nieces and nephews; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services: Memorial services will be held in West Seattle and Anchorage.

Memorials: American Parkinson's Disease Association.

Angel Cosca Jr.

Angel Cosca Jr., 74, of Salinas, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at his home after an illness.
He was born in General Trias Caviet, Philippine Islands, and lived in Salinas for 22 years. He was a chef.

Military service: Navy during World War II.

Survivors: Wife, Aida Cosca of Salinas; sons, Jose Cosca of San Francisco, Dante Cosca of Aurora, Colo., and Rolando Cosca and Angel Cosca III, both of Salinas; daughters-in-law, Barbara Cosca, Delia Cosca and Leah Cosca; brothers, Camilo Cosca and Clodualdo Cosca, both of Quezon City, Philippines, Romulus Cosca and Amador Cosca, both of Guam, and Loreto Cosca of Tarlac, Philippines; sister, Amelia Alba of Guam; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
