William Billick
William Ward Billick, a native and lifelong resident of Galt, died May 27, 2003 at the age of 69. He was born May 24, 1934.
Mr. Billick was an employee of A. Teichert & Sons, spending 30 years with the company. His hobbies included RV-ing, hunting and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Billick of Galt; his children, William Billick Jr. and Brandy Archer both of Galt and Dana Billick of Vancouver, Wash.; seven grandchildren and three-great grandchildren.
Mr. Billick was the brother of Martha Jellison of Lotus, Annabelle Bottimore of Herald and Linda McCarter of Lincoln. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
No services were held. Arrangements were by Ben Salas Funeral Home, Galt.

Marcia Huft
Marcia Lea Huft, co-owner of EG Upholstery and Interiors, died May 29, 2003 of breast cancer. She was 63.
Mrs. Huft and her husband, Wes, started the business in 1974. For several years she did the bookkeeping while working as an Internal Revenue agent, but after retiring from the IRS in 1980, she devoted herself full time to a career in interior design.
"She enjoyed her work, making people's homes look beautiful, and always had an encouraging word for you," said her son Mark.
Mrs. Huft was also the charter president of Soroptimist International of Rio Cosumnes in 1985-86.
She was born July 10, 1939 in Sacramento to Arthur and Elise Quashnick. She graduated from Galt High School in 1957 and that same year married Wesley Huft. They established their first home in Florin, but soon moved to Elk Grove.
Her husband survives her, as do her children, Mark Huft of Galt and Kendra Larry of Elk Grove; and her grandchildren, Ryan, Alissa, Andre and Nathan.
Mrs. Huft was the sister of Roger Quashnick and Dennis Quashnick both of Lodi, Terry Quashnick of Pioneer and Darryl Quashnick of Sonora.
Graveside services are private. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1765 Challenge Way, Suite 115, Sacramento, CA 95815.
Arrangements are by Andrews and Greilich Mortuary.

Robert Magill
December 23, 1917 - February 06, 2005

Robert Grant Magill
Robert G. Magill, age 87, passed away Sunday February 6, 2005 at his home in Paradise, California. He was born December 23, 1917 in Kansas City, Missouri to Chester and Luella Magill. He grew up in So. California where he completed his education and begun his early career as a machinist. Later he was employed in the aircraft industry. This was interrupted by W.W.II where he enlisted in the US Coast Guard, performing as part of an air sea rescue team from 1942 to 1946. He then resumed his employment with North American Rockwell in 1947. He worked on various experimental projects and received many commendations for his thirty years of service and numerous contributions to the success of the Apollo series space missions. He retired to Susanville in 1976 where he enjoyed his many interests, camping, motorcycling, building homes, dune buggies and his vast music collection. The family moved to Paradise in 1994. Bob could always be found in his workshop where he could repair or fabricate anything. He was an avid reader of many subjects s and had a passion for life and a thirst for knowledge of all things. Bob was an excellent photographer and a processed his own photos which were in demand for many publications. Bob was a talented man who was well known for his kindness, decency and above all his sense of humor. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Helen, his only daughter, Randi, granddaughters, Haven, Sierra, Summer, a neice and nephew. He was devoted to his family. He was remembered at a memorial gathering of friends and family in Susanville and Paradise, and will be missed by all who knew him. His family is indebted to Dr. Joseph Lee, the staff of Feather River Hospital, and Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.

Kathleen "Kay" Sutherland
May 22, 1935 - February 07, 2005

A memorial service will be held for Kathleen “Kay” Patricia Sutherland, 69, of Chico, CA, on Saturday, February 12, 2005, 2:00 p.m. at Grace Brethren Church. Kay passed away on Monday, February 7, 2005, at her residence, with loved ones at her side. She was born on May 22, 1935 in Atlantic City, New Jersey to Bernard and Frances Keyes. Kay is survived by her three sons, Michael, Gilbert and Paul Aguilar; daughter, Jill Aguilar; six grandchildren, Steven, David, Dominic, Kyleigh, Ariel and Sophie Aguilar; ten step-grandchildren; and four step-great grandchildren. Inurnment will be at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Women’s Resource Clinic in care of Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home who are handling the arrangements.

Phoebe Claire Fellis
August 11, 1932 - February 10, 2005

A Visitation service will be held for Phoebe Claire Fellis, 72, of Chico, on Thursday, February 17, 2005, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with funeral service following at 11:30 a.m. at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. Burial will be at Chico Cemetery. Phoebe passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at a local care facility. She was born on August 11, 1932 in Sacramento, California to Wesley and Louise Bowlen. Phoebe worked as an auditor for Safeway Grocery Stores for seventeen years. She enjoyed fishing, crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Julie Clawson and her husband, Jim and Linda Slimmer all of Chico, CA; two sons, Peter Cardoza of Chico and Floyd Neuhardt and his wife, Carol of Willows; brother, Wesley Bowlen; sister, Sharon Volk; two step-daughters, Debbie Ross and Diane Powers; one step-son, Dwayne Fellis; six grandchildren, Jeff Cardoza, Jessica Voisine, Janelle Clawson, Kristel Cardoza, Nicky Slimmer, Lindsay Neuhardt; and one great granddaughter, Jaclyn Voisine. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross for Tsunami Relief, in care of Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements.

James Eldon Holopter
November 29, 1918 - February 12, 2005

Resided In: Chico, California
Eldon Holopter died Saturday, February 12, 2005 at a Paradise Hospital.
He was born November 29, 1918 to Charles & Eva Hollopter in Shoshone, Idaho, the youngest of nine children. At the age of five his family moved to Plaza District (Orland), California where he was raised and attended school, graduating from Hamilton City High School in 1937. He graduated from the Golden Empire College of Commerce. August 24, 1940 he married Alta Kafader. In May 1944 he joined the United States Navy and served in the South Pacific until December 1945. In 1948 he worked for Valley Concrete Pipe Company and later became Comptroller. In 1965 the company was sold to Hydro-Conduit and he became administrative assistant for their Northern Division based in Orland. In 1968 he bought Park Village Hardware, which he operated until his retirement in 1984. Eldon enjoyed dancing with his wife, and they enjoyed many years of square dancing and round dancing, in fact, the couple met at a dance. They also enjoyed going on cruises around the world. He belonged to SIRS # 63, Elks # 423 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Chico Post # 1555.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alta, a brother Charles Hollopeter, three daughters, Judith McMahen, and Charlotte Hull of Chico, Eldonna Cavelier of Boynton Beach, FL. 10 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granddaughter. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Newton Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. Services will be Friday, February 18, 2005 at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial in Chico Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Eldon’s life at his daughter Charlotte’s home. Donations may be made to the Enloe Hospital Foundation or Butte County Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.

Howard Snyder
June 22, 1917 - February 13, 2005

Resided In: Chico, California
Howard Glenn Snyder, 87, former principal of Chico Senior High School, died peacefully from complications related to Alzheimers disease February 13, 2005 in his room at the University Retirement Community in Davis. Howard, the son of Judge W. Cloyd Snyder and Hallie Foster Snyder, was born 22 June, 1917 in Santa Paula, CA and raised in South Pasadena. He took his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College in 1939 and his M.A. in 1940 at the University of Minnesota. There he met Jean Elizabeth Dawson, who was studying to become a classics teacher. They were married in 1942.
After teaching in Paso Robles for two years, ineligible for the military, in 1943 he set aside his teaching career to become Secretary of the YMCA in Woodland, working with Woodland High students in Hi-Y and
Tri-Y groups until 1945. After the war he resumed teaching in South Pasadena, eventually serving as principal of high schools in Hanford, Paramount, Fowler, Chowchilla, and finally in Chico from 1965-1973. He then left administration and went back to teaching grades 4-6 in Chico area elementary schools before retiring in 1983. His wife Jean died in Chico in 1993. He moved to Davis in 1998.
He is survived by four children -- Jim Snyder and Larry Snyder of Davis, Susan Snyder of Point Richmond, and Glenn Snyder of El Cerrito – and by two grandchildren -- Maki Hasegawa of Point Richmond, and Cana Hasegawa, currently living in Japan.
There will be no services. The family encourages donations to Alzheimers Disease research.

Catherine Bartlett Roberts
May 30, 1918 - February 14, 2005
Birthplace: Ellsworth, Kansas
Resided In: Chico, California
A graveside service will be held for Catherine Roberts, 86, of Chico at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. She died on Feb 14, 2005 in a local hospital with her son, William at her side.
Catherine was born in Ellsworth, Kansas on May 30, 1918, to Samuel and Frances Bartlett. On June 12, 1944, she married Bill Roberts in New Orleans, LA. They met while she was serving as a WAC in the United States Army under General Eisenhower in the European Theater. They moved to Chico in 1949. She was an artist. She loved painting, needlework and watching football and CNN. She is preceded in death by Bill her husband of 52 years. She is survived by her son, William Roberts of Chico. Memorial donations can be made to the Jesus Center in care of Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home.
