Peter Dal Porto

May 26, 1916 - Aug. 11, 2004

Peter Dal Porto, 88, of Alameda, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004 in Santa Clara.

Mr. Dal Porto was born on May 26, 1916 in San Francisco. For 28 years, he worked as a U.S. postal inspector and retired in 1971. He was a former resident of Pioneer for 18 years and a member of the Mace Meadow Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Dal Porto; sons, Bill Dal Porto of Alameda and Jim Dal Porto (Mary) of Los Gatos; grandchildren, Sara and Ryan Dal Porto and the late Woody and Mike Dal Porto; brother, Fred Dal Porto (Mary) of Daly City; sister; Betty Jean LoVoi (Dick) of Pleasanton; nieces and nephews, Rick LoVoi (Heidi), Rene Crutchley (Bryan), Steve LoVoi (Jenny), Linda Capparelli (Al) and several others out of the area.

Memorial service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Christian Center, 1516 Grand St., Alameda. Interment will be private at Mt. View Cemetery in Oakland. Arrangements are being handled by Greer Family Mortuary in Alameda.

Dorothy I. Biskup

Dorothy I. Biskup died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson.

Mrs. Biskup was born on April 13, 1921 in Burnett, Texas.

At the family’s request, there will be no public service. Interment will be at the Jackson City Cemetery in Jackson. Arrangements are being entrusted to Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

Etta A. Ryan Berry

June 14, 1918 - Nov. 27. 2004

Etta A. Ryan Berry, 86, died on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson.

Mrs. Berry was born on June 14, 1918 to William Henry and Anne D. Ryan in Pine Grove.

Etta married Benjamin “Ben” F. Berry on Feb. 8, 1941 in Las Vegas. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Golden Star Chapter 66, serving as matron three times and deputy grand matron.

Etta was a past president of the Native Daughters of the Golden West Ursula Parlor, a member of the Jackson Woman’s Club and served as mother advisor of the Rainbow Girls.

She enjoyed spending time at Silver Lake and made Amador County her home her entire life.

She is survived by her children, Benjamin F. Berry, Jr, of Durham, N. H., Lynna Berry Negri of Woodland, Marla Jayne Berry Tillotson of Omaha, Neb., John A. Berry of Pine Grove, Jarmo Isotalo of Jackson; brother, Martin Ryan of Jackson; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin “Ben” F. Berry, Sr.

Visitation will take place on Friday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. at Daneri Mortuary Chapel. Inurnment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Pine Grove. Arrangements are being entrusted to Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Amador, P.O. Box 595, Jackson 95642, or the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road, Jackson 95642

Marie L. Smith Sketchley

Marie L. Smith Sketchley, 85, died on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004 at her home in El Dorado Hills.

She was born on Oct. 23, 1919 in Stockton.

Memorial service will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. at Daneri Mortuary Chapel in Jackson. Inurnment will be at the Sutter Creek City Cemetery in Sutter Creek. Arrangements are being entrusted to Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

Simon Hawley

Simon Hawley, 67, died on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004 at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson.

Mr. Hawley was born on Sept. 13, 1937 in Alturas.

Visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 13 at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson. Inurnment will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to Daneri Mortuary in Jackson. Condolences may be offered to the family at daneri@cdepot.net.

Ruth Ann (Cunnison) Jenkins

Jan. 25, 1943 - Dec. 6, 2004

Ruth Ann (Cunnison) Jenkins, 61, died on Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 at her home in Concord. She was a graduate of Jackson High School in 1961.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ronald Jenkins of Concord; daughter, Renee Jenkins of Walnut Creek, and son, Daniel Jenkins of Fairfield; grandsons, Andrew and Matthew Armstrong both of Walnut Creek; sister, Bonnie Scharnow of Pine Grove; brother, John Cunnison, Sr., of Marysville; and also many nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will take place on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Church in the Jackson Creek Plaza shopping center behind the Waffle Shop.

Arrangements were entrusted to Ouimet Brothers Funeral Chapel in Concord.

Mary Priscilla Broulik

Oct. 27, 1939 - Dec. 8, 2004

Mary Priscilla Broulik, 65, died on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004 at her home in Pioneer with her loving family by her side.

Mrs. Broulik was born on Oct. 27, 1939 in Colorado. She graduated from Courtland High School in Sacramento were she was a cheerleader, band member and was involved in many athletic activities such as tennis, hockey, volleyball, softball and also belonged to the Courtland High School Pep club.

She enjoyed sewing, refinishing furniture, arts and crafts and gardening.

She is survived by a son, Ronnie Lemon, Jr. of Pioneer; step-children, Ronnie Broulik of Sacramento, Karen Stribble and Debbie Fairchild both of Sacramento; brother, Valentine Ortiz of Colorado; sisters, Adeline Duarte, Rose Escobar and Lucy Lujan all of Sacramento; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Broulik, on Oct. 8, 2004.

Rosary will be recited on Friday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Pioneer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 18 at noon at the same location. Arrangements are being entrusted to McCrory’s Funeral Home of Pine Grove.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Amador, P.O. Box 595, Jackson 95642 and the American Lung Association, 5495 Carlson Drive, Ste. D, Sacramento 95819.

The family would like to thank Hospice for their much needed help through this difficult time.
