Jerry Rigley

Private services will be held for Jerry Rigley, 77, of Vacaville.

Mr. Rigley died May 31, 1998, after a long illness.

Born Dec. 8, 1920, in Calais, Maine, he was a Vacaville resident for 44 years. He was a chief master sergeant in the Air Force when he retired after 22 years of service. He was also a Vacaville mail carrier for 13 years.

Mr. Rigley was an avid sports fan and had coached several local Babe Ruth baseball teams and a championship inter-service football team in Japan.

Mr. Rigley is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Karen Rhodes of Vacaville; son, Pat of Davis; and grandsons, Joey Rhodes of Vacaville, Colin and Ryan of Davis.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Arrangements are handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Lyle D. Simpson

Private inurnment will be held for Lyle D. Simpson, 84, of Orangevale.

Mr. Simpson died May 29, 1998, in Vacaville after a brief illness.

Born Oct. 23, 1913, in Greenfield, Iowa, Mr. Simpson moved to the area 20 years ago. He served four years in the Navy during World War II and was a salesman for 40 years. He was a member of the Elks and S.I.R.S.

Mr. Simpson was an avid matchbook collector.

Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Helen of Vacaville; son, Michael and his wife, Pam of Vacaville; daughter, Diane Goodwin of Orangevale; brother, Roland of Lakeview, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Carl W. Swedenburg

Funeral services for Carl W. Swedenburg, 87, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. June 10. The Rev. O'Reilly of St. Joseph's will preside. Burial will be at Tracy Public Cemetery.

Born Sept. 20, 1910, in Minnesota, Mr. Swedenburg died May 30, 1998, at NorthBay Medical Center. He moved to the area five years ago.

Mr. Swedenburg was a retired psychologist of 40 years from the State Department of Corrections. He was a music lover, studied the organ, belonged to several music groups, and attended many organ seminars and concerts.

He is survived by several friends.

Arrangements are by the Neptune Society of Northern California.

Leslie E. Tuvey

A private memorial service will be held for Leslie E. Tuvey, 48, of Vacaville.

Mr. Tuvey died at home May 30, 1998, after a long illness.

Born April 22, 1950, in Escalon, he was a Benicia resident before moving to Vacaville. At the time of his death he was developing graphic arts software. He was a University of California, Berkeley graduate and worked as an account auditor for Napa County. He was a member of the Vallejo Yacht Club and the Yacht Racing Association of San Francisco Bay.

Mr. Tuvey was an avid sailor.

Mr. Tuvey is survived by his wife, Sherri; sons, Chad and Christopher of Vacaville; parents, Leslie and Virginia of Benicia; and brother, Brad of San Ramon.

Arrangements are by Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia.

Steven Lloyd Williams

Funeral services for Steven Lloyd Williams, 46, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Friday in Nadeau Family Funeral Home in Vacaville.

Pastor Milton Steck will officiate. Internment will be private.

Mr. Williams died June 2, 1998, at his home after a long illness.

Mr. Williams was born Feb. 11, 1952, in Springfield, Mass. He had worked as a welder. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Mr. Williams loved camping and the outdoors. He was interested and involved in radio-controlled and slot cars.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Kim; daughter, Leslie of Vacaville; son, Joseph of Vacaville; mother, Bea of Vacaville; sister, Cindy Peterson of Antioch; two nieces; and a nephew.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nadeau Family Funeral Home in Vacaville.

James J. Pottebaum

Private services will be held for retired Lt. Col. James J. Pottebaum, 63, of Foresthill. Inurnment will be private.

Born Sept. 29, 1934, in Alton, Iowa, Mr. Pottebaum died May 26, 1998, after a long illness.

A resident of Foresthill for 10 years, Mr. Pottebaum retired from the Air Force after 30 years of service. He was a C-5 pilot.

He is survived by his daughters, Laura Miguel, Mary Jo Seminoff and Janet Potter, all of Vacaville, and Jane Quiring of Dixon; sisters, Mary Ann Sorensen of Atlanta and Jean McGlone of Flandreau, S.D.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to NorthBay Hospice, 1800 Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield 94533-9980.

Arrangements are handled by McCune Garden Chapel.

Robert Charles Watford

Memorial services for Robert Charles Watford, 50, of Eureka will be 6 p.m. Saturday at Living Waters Church, 716 Jackson St., Fairfield. Inurnment will be private.

Born Nov. 22, 1947, in Greensboro, Ala., Mr. Watford died May 29, 1998, in NorthBay Medical Center after an illness.

Mr. Watford lived in Fairfield until just a few months ago. He worked as an electrician.

Mr. Watford is survived by his daughter, Traci Smith of Vacaville; sons, Jamal of Fairfield and Jalal of Minnesota; father, Charles of Fairfield; sisters, Faye Watford-Cardeley of Eureka and Terri Hagan of Vacaville; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are handled by Fairfield Funeral Home.

Roberta Louise Layton

Funeral services for Roberta Louise Layton, 81, of Vacaville will be in Tuscon, Ariz. Internment will also be in Tuscon.

Mrs. Layton died suddenly June 2, 1998.

Born Dec. 13, 1916, in San Antonio, she was a Vacaville resident since 1976. She worked at the Style Center in Vacaville for 18 years.

Mrs. Layton enjoyed painting and other arts and crafts.

Mrs. Layton is survived by her daughters, Jeanette Koerner of Tuscon and Sandra of Santee; son, Wayne; three grandsons; one great-grandson; and one great-grandaughter.

Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Doyle C. Kilpatrick

A memorial service for Doyle C. Kilpatrick, 85, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Jan. 11, 1913, in Willow Point, Texas, Mr. Kilpatrick died June 4, 1998, in Lodi after a short illness. He was a former resident of Fairfield for 40 years. He was moving back to Fairfield at the time of his death.

He worked for the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District for 25 years as head custodian at David Weir Elementary School. He was known by the children as "Mr. Doyle."

He was a member of the California School Employee Association, and was a former member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Fairfield. He loved to ride bikes with his grandchildren, was a great story teller, and also enjoyed traveling.

Mr. Kilpatrick is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Tom Stockebrand of West Jordan, Utah; sister, Mildred Mengarelli of LaPorte, Texas; grandchildren, Matthew Kilpatrick Stockebrand of West Jordan, Utah, Maryam Ordaz of Utah, Polly Hanka of Kentucky, and Melissa Farrar of Kentucky; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Winnie; and his daughter, Alva Doylene Hardin.

Anisa Nannette Lisenby West

Funeral services for Anisa Nannette Lisenby West, 26, of Sacramento will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.

Mrs. West died suddenly from injuries suffered in an accident on June 3, 1998.

Born Sept. 28, 1971, in Fairfield, she was a Sacramento resident for two years. She had worked for Denny's Restaurant before moving to Sacramento. She attended T.C. McDaniels and Anna Kyle School. She was a 1990 graduate of the California School for the Deaf in Fremont.

Mrs. West is survived by her parents, Bob and Linda Lisenby of Fairfield; brother, Robert of Vacaville; grandparents, Goldie and Henry Bates of Pueblo, Colo.; and numerous aunts and uncles.

At the time of her death, she was married to Stephen Charles West, who died in the same accident.

Visitation is 10 a.m. Tuesday in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Ann Rossi Atkinson

Memorial services for Ann Rossi Atkinson, 52, of Fairfield, Conn., will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Congregational Church in Fairfield, Conn.

Mrs. Atkinson, the daughter of Dixon residents Emil and Diana Rossi, died May 31, 1998, in her Connecticut home after a yearlong battle with brain cancer.

Born on Sept. 20, 1945, in Sacramento, she was a member of Dixon High School's 1963 graduating class and continued her education at Smith College in Northampton, Mass., where she met her husband, Theodore W. Atkinson Jr.

In addition to her parents and husband of 30 years, she is survived by her children, Ted III of Westbrook, Conn., and twins Andrea of Middlebury, Vt,. and Emily of Hanover, N.H.; sister, Mary Fuchs; and brother, Michael Rossi, both of Lafayette.

Roberta Louise Layton

Funeral services for Roberta Louise Layton, 81, of Vacaville will be in Tucson, Ariz. Internment will also be in Tuscon.

Mrs. Layton died suddenly June 2, 1998.

Memorial services for Julie D. Leano, 45, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Vaca Hills Chapel, 542 Elmira Road. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Leano died June 5, 1998, in her Vacaville home after a long illness.

Born Feb. 7, 1953, in Norwich, England, she moved to the area 22 years ago.

She was a housewife for 30 years and loved animals, especially horses.

Mrs. Leano is survived by her husband, Edgardo of Vacaville; sons, Gerald of Yuciapa and Anthony of Vacaville; parents, Leonard Guerrero and Pearl Pickett of Sacramento; sisters, Sharon White of Vacaville and Jeanette Pickett of England; brothers, Gerald Guerrero of Guinda and Dean Guerrero of Mareno Valley; and granddaughter, Alyssa Leano of Yuciapa.

Visitation will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to a favorite charity.

LeRoy Vasser Watson

Memorial services for LeRoy Vasser Watson, 75, of Fairfield will be 7 p.m. Thursday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela of Holy Spirit Catholic Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in South Park Memorial Park in Texas.

Born May 28, 1923, in Pearland, Texas, Mr. Watson died June 8, 1998, in David Grant Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mr. Watson lived in Fairfield for 41 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the Air Force, retiring in 1963. He worked as a flight engineer for 22 years and then served in the reserves for 20 years. He also worked for the civil service for 20 years.

Mr. Watson was a private pilot who loved to fly. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Holy Spirit.

Mr. Watson is survived by his daughters, Carol Boardman of Manteca, Janet Abshire of Sacramento and Diane of Davis; son, Christopher of Cloverdale; sisters, Margaret Bowlin of Sweeny, Texas, and Shirley Rahm of Bremerton, Wash.; brother, Bob of Bercliar, Texas; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and longtime companion and friend, Dorothy Borges of Fairfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Foundation of Children & Aging, One Elmwood, Kansas City, Mo., 64111.
