Gabriela 'Gaby' Lujan

A funeral Mass for Gabriela "Gaby" Lujan, 85, of Pleasant Hill, was held Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Pleasant Hill.

Mrs. Lujan died on July 8, 1999, at her home in Pleasant Hill after an extended illness.

A native of Pojoaque/Santa Fe, N.M., she moved to California in 1942 and lived in Contra Costa County for 56 years. Most recently, she lived with her two daughters and their husbands in Suisun City and Vacaville, where she participated in NorthBay Medical Center's Alzheimer's Day Care Program.

She tended numerous flowers in her yard and harvested as well as canned fruit from her many trees.

Mrs. Lujan is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Leonard Gianno of Suisun City, Betty Lujan-Roberts and Arthur Roberts of Portage, Mich., and Liz and Walt Irwin of Vacaville; son, Gilbert of Sequim, Wash.; grandchildren, Leonard and Cory Gianno of Vacaville, Marissa Gianno of London, Vanessa Gianno of San Francisco and Shawn and Christine Irwin of Vacaville; and great-granddaughter, Alissandra Gianno.

Surviving brothers and sisters live in New Mexico.

Mrs. Lujan was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, in 1978.

Sumei M. Kitagawa

There will no formal services held for Sumei M. Kitagawa, 92, of Vacaville. Interment will be in the Japanese Cemetery, Colma.

Mrs. Kitagawa died July 13, 1999, in VacaValley Hospital after a short illness.

Born Dec. 13, 1906, in Berkeley, she resided in Vacaville for three months and Fairfield for 32 years. She worked as the secretary to the president of the Continental Can Co. in New York for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church in San Francisco, the Japanese Club of Fairfield and Vacaville, and the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL).

Mrs. Kitagawa enjoyed reading and music.

Mrs. Kitagawa is survived by her sister, Toki Morioka of Cincinnati, Ohio; and brothers, Masao Miho of Vacaville and Shu Miho of Los Angeles.

Caitlin Entezam Phelan

A memorial service for Caitlin Entezam Phelan, 26, of Vacaville will be at 3 p.m. today in McCune Garden Chapel.

Mrs. Phelan died July 10, 1999, in Truckee after a hiking accident.

Born Dec. 17, 1972, in St. Louis, Mo., she resided in Vacaville. She lived in Phoenix until the age of 12 and moved to Travis Air Force Base with her family in 1985. In her youth she was a Girl Scout. She graduated from Vanden High School in 1991, where she was active in theater. Recently, she was in several Solano College and Harbor Theater productions. She was involved with the Adult Literacy Program at the Vacaville Library, and she worked at VacaValley Hospital in the purchasing department.

Mrs. Phelan is survived by her loving husband, Chad Wilson; son, Alexander Ray of Vacaville; mother, Elli Poerner of Massachusetts; sister, Claire of Fairfield; brother, Daniel of Oakland; grandmother, Louise Horton of Sun City West, Ariz.; grandmother-in-law, Deloras Neal of Vacaville; and many caring friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Solano College Theater Association, 4000 Suisun Valley Road, Suisun City, 94585.

Valentina Dolores Wakeman

Funeral services for Valentina Dolores Wakeman, 70, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Friday.

The Rev. Sebastian Meyer of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church will officiate. Disposition will be in Fairfield-Suisun Cemetery.

Mrs. Wakeman died July 13, 1999, in David Grant Medical Center after a long illness.

Born Jan. 20, 1929, in Oakland, she lived in Fairfield for 35 years. She was a homemaker for 32 years. She was very active in youth activities and worked in the school library assisting the children.

Mrs. Wakeman is survived by her son, Richard of Sacramento; daughter, Janelle of Sebastopol; brother, Edward Rodrigues of Hayward; sisters, Gloria Rodrigues of Oakland, May Freitas and Vera Lawrence, both of Hayward, and Jayne Sollitt of Brentwood; granddaughter, Gianna Sarsfield of Sebastopol; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Leuna Ruth Curlee

A memorial service for Leuna Ruth Curlee, 71, of Fairfield will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Curlee died July 14, 1999, in her home after a long illness.

Born Aug. 1, 1927, in San Benito, Texas, she lived in Fairfield for six years. She was a homemaker for 35 years.

Mrs. Curlee is survived by her daughters, Linda Cline of Fairfield and Kathryn Martin of Red Bluff; sons, Gerald Watson of Fairfield and Walter Watson of Sacramento; sisters, Mayme Winters of Milipitas and Lorene Lewis of Stockton; brothers, Vernon Minix of Los Angeles, and Bill and Joe Minix, both of Richmond; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the NorthBay Hospice Program, 1300 Oliver Road, Suite 210, Fairfield, 94533.

Ruby E. Palmer

Funeral services for Ruby E. Palmer, 82, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Monday in Fairfield Assembly of God Church.

Pastor Robert Clay will officiate. A private entombment will follow the church services at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mrs. Palmer died July 13, 1999, in her home after a long illness.

Born Nov. 27, 1916, in Winslow, Ark., she had lived in Fairfield for 50 years. She was a homemaker for the past 67 years. She was a charter member of the Fairfield Assembly of God Church and was very active in the church with her husband, the late Rev. Leonard Palmer, who was a former pastor at the church.

Mrs. Palmer enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She was an avid gardener and was well-known for her roses. She was an excellent baker and was known for her cakes.

Mrs. Palmer is survived by her daughters, Karen Sorensen of Fairfield and Dorathy Broussard of Council, Idaho; sons, Alex Sorenson of Fairfield, Calvin Sorenson of Vallejo and Earl Sorenson of Vacaville; sister, Mildred Morris of Stillwell, Okla.; stepdaughters, Dorothy Hoover of Napa, Gloria Young of Santa Clara, Joy Hall of Utah and Robin Hillis of San Jose; stepson, Jack of Daly City; and 50 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Deborah Denise Watson

A memorial service for Deborah Denise Watson, 45, of Fairfield will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Watson died July 14, 1999, in Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Vallejo, after a short illness.

Born July 22, 1953, in Modesto, she had lived in Fairfield for five years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Watson is survived by her husband, Gerald of Fairfield; daughter, Roxanne Faye Nicols of Felton; father, Steve Johnson of Arizona; and sisters, Mary Brown of Hollister and Judy Wilson of Ione.

Ronald H. Wong

Memorial services were held for Ronald H. Wong, 55, of Ripon on March 12 at the Calvary Reformed Church. Interment was private.

Mr. Wong died March 8, 1999, in his home after a sudden illness.

Born March 13, 1944, in San Francisco, he resided in Ripon for 20 years. He was employed as a dispatcher for eight years by Dirksen Transportation. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and he worked for the Nut Tree and Coffee Tree for many years. He was a member of Calvary Reformed Church.

Mr. Wong is survived by his wife, Joyce of Ripon; stepchildren, Bob, Larry and Bill Van Nieuwenhuyzen, all of Ripon, and Ray Van Nieuwenhuyzen of Modesto; brother, Tony of San Diego; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard (Dick) Wong and his mother.

Ruby F. Paynter

There will be no formal services for Ruby F. Paynter, 74, of Vacaville at her request. She will be interred with her husband at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.

Mrs. Paynter died July 15, 1999, in Vacaville after a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 24, 1924, in Kirksville, Mo., she lived in Vacaville for one year and in Riverside for 44 years. She was a homemaker and mother for 56 years.

Mrs. Paynter enjoyed riding motorcycles and was an expert shot with a target pistol.

Mrs. Paynter is survived by her son, Richard of Carson City, Nev.; son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Paula of Vacaville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to NorthBay Hospice, 1800 Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Marguerite Laveda Moore

Funeral for Marguerite Laveda Moore, 89, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in McCune Garden Chapel.

Pastor Leroy Gainey will preside. Burial will follow in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Moore died July 13, 1999, in Vacaville after a short illness.

Born Dec. 25, 1909, in Hartland, Mo., she lived in Vacaville for 54 years. She has been a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for the past 23 years.

Mrs. Moore was a loving mother and homemaker, enjoyed crocheting and took home many prizes from local fairs for her crocheting.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ernest and Jacqui of Vacaville; brother, Glen Bogue of Sacramento; sister, Georgie Samples of Arkansas; grandchildren, Stormy Haust of Germany, Joelle Groendes of San Francisco and Rebecca Moore of Benicia; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cal; son Oliver; and daughter Wilma.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in McCune Garden Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Rita Ann Chevalier

Graveside services for Rita Ann Chevalier, 35, of Fort Benning, Ga., will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Burial also will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Chevalier died July 15, 1999, in Martin Army Community Hospital in Fort Benning after a brief illness.

Born Oct. 21, 1963, in Japan, she resided in Fort Benning for one year. Her prior residence was Vacaville. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Chevalier is survived by her husband, David of Fort Benning; daughter, Ashley of Fort Benning; father and mother, Rueben and Fumiko Leech of Vacaville; and sister, Anna Schweitzer of Fort Walton, Fla.
