OLIVE CLARK

November 06, 2004

OLIVE ALEXANDRIA CLARK At sunset, on Monday, November 1, 2004, at the age of 89, Olive left her earthly body to take her place among the stars. Last born icon and last surviving of the six children (Harupina, Meraslowka, Mereslawko, Bohdan, Irene and Olive) of Theodosia Syrnyk and Alexander Muszka, she grew up in Winnipeg and had wonderful memories of working at Minaki Lodge when she was 16. She met her sweetheart, Henry, at the Winnipeg Winter Club and, charmed by the twinkle in his eye, she married icon him on Valentine's Day, 1942. They loved to dance, to travel (many motoring trips around Canada, and a couple of trips to Europe) and to ride their tandem bike around Assiniboine Park. After fifty devoted years together, in 1992, he predeceased her. Olive was a gracious and elegant person and she loved to "dress to the 9's"; her carefully ensembled outfits including hats, scarves, gloves, shoes and purses will be remembered by all who knew her and many who noticed her. Foremost of her many interests, Olive was a talented and creative seamstress and tailor, at one time running her own shop and later making many clothes for her family. She made her own wedding gown by copying a dress she saw in a magazine. Olive had a great sense of humour; it was easy to laugh along with her and share her love. She was a loving and nurturing wife, mother, and grandmother and has had the good fortune to live to meet her three great-granddaughters and many of her step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. ..."It's a Miracle! ! Imagine ! ! !"... She leaves two daughters, Nancy Clark (of Winnipeg) and Dianne (Charles) Leggatt (of Toronto); three grandsons, Jeremy (Nicole), Cameron (Cecilia), and Airyn; three great-granddaughters, Theia, Shima and MacKenzie; her niece, Susan Flye; seven step-grandchildren, Jonathan (Tiina), David (Debbie), Timothy (Peggy), Matthew (Carolyn), Max, Janet (Chris), Jacqueline; 11 step-great-grandchildren, Sarah, Michael, Carolynne, Danielle, Christopher, Lillian, Gove, Madeline, Claire, Dustin, and Christian, and Pauline Cronin. Grateful thanks for the tender loving care given to her over the past five and one-half years by the many thoughtful staff at Tuxedo Villa who made Olive feel at home. A private celebration of Olive's life was held with family and friends in Nancy's home. We all come from the Goddess And to Her we shall return Like a drop of rain Flowing to the ocean.
