In tears we saw you sinking We watched you fade away. You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting Until the very end. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered, "Come with Me". So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back To suffer that again. Always remembered, always cherished. Each memory a part of us, a part of you, Never to be lost. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. 982-7550

SONDRA BRAID

November 24, 2004

SONDRA LOUISE BRAID B.A., LL.B. Sondra died on November 15, 2004 in South Korea due to complications from pneumonia. She is survived by her parents, Arthur and Judy Braid; her brother Kyle; her sister Lianne Welburn (Dean); and her niece Penny. She also leaves many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends and her ex-husband Matt Pederson of Brainerd, MN. Sondra was born icon in Winnipeg on March 8, 1964 where she resided until her marriage to Matt Pederson in 1991 when she took up residence near Brainerd. She became an American (dual) citizen in 1995. After her separation, she returned briefly to Winnipeg but left for Austin, TX in 1996. She returned to Winnipeg in September of this year only to leave four days later to teach English for one year in South Korea. Sondra was educated at General Byng, Chapman, St. Mary's Academy and Shaftesbury High. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba in 1990 and her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1987. Sondra was called to the bar in Manitoba in 1988 and practised family law with Newman, MacLean and Associates and then Wilder, Wilder and Langtry. In 1990 she ran unsuccessfully as the Progressive Conservative candidate against Reg Alcock in the Provincial Osborne constituency. After her move to Brainerd in 1991, she was employed as a dealer in a casino and later as a county court administrator. When she arrived in Texas she decided to pursue a long-held desire to teach. She enrolled at Southwest Texas State University and received her Teaching Certificate in 1999. She taught at high schools in Bastrop and Austin, TX and also taught life-skills to inmates of a "lockup facility" at Lockhart, TX. Her last teaching post was teaching English in South Korea. Sondra was a unique personality who throughout her life marched to her own drummer. She saw adversities as opportunities and never shrank from challenging her own limits. Her personality created highs and lows that were equally sharp. In her all too short years she experienced life to the full. Skydiver, casino dealer, used car salesperson, cemetery plot sales rep, court administrator, political candidate, waitress, policy analyst, back room politician, lawyer and teacher are but some examples of the eclectic nature of her activities and occupations. Whether it was her affection for her ferrets, her passion for NASCAR racing or anything else, she did nothing by half-measure. Nowhere however was her resolve more evident than in her dedication to the students in her charge. She was a creative and challenging teacher whose students could not help but know that she truly cared about the education of each of them personally. She taught in one of the toughest high schools in Austin as well as in a Texas prison. Letters from some former students are testimonials of her special knack for motivating to learn the so-called unteachable rebel. Sondra touched many people in diverse ways during her life. Her family, friends, associates and former clients and students are all diminished by her passing but enriched by her living. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 27 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Anglican Church, southeast corner of Roblin Boulevard and Haney Street, Charleswood. The Rev. Gordon Dixon will officiate. No flowers please.

Association and Alcoholics Anonymous. From a very young age Ray had a tremendous faith in God. He had a charismatic personality and that personality combined with his gift of prayer and belief that God wanted him to help people allowed him to touch many lives. Ray had a talent for public speaking and through this was able to motivate and inspire. He spent a lot of time with family and friends helping out whenever he could. Ray believed we were all God's children and deserved to be loved. Regardless of his failing health, he always took the time to listen and help whenever he could. ROBERT ELLISON

November 24, 2004

ROBERT NELS ELLISON It is with incredible sadness that we announce the passing of our father Bob Ellison on November 20, 2004. Dad suffered in the recent months with chronic lung disease, we are comforted in knowing that he is now with our mother, Audrey, whom he has missed beyond words since she left us on August 29, 1999. Although a life long resident of Teulon, MB, most recently due to ill health, he had been living with his children in Winnipeg. Dad was born icon to Roy and Anne Ellison (Patterson) on February 17, 1934. Dad took great pride in being the eldest son and older brother to Merlin who predeceased him in September 2003. Dad, Papa, Grandpa, Homer - he was many things to us, most importantly he was our mentor, our strength and the man we always knew would be there for us. He was an incredible hockey player and coach, a wonderful son, a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and a solid member of the community in many roles including business man, town councillor, member of the Teulon Hockey Association, and committed father to children in community sports. He was a business partner to his father, his wife and his son and the life partner to our mother. We wish to celebrate his life - a life that was filled with the passion for family, sport, play time, travel and hard work. Mom and Dad took great pride in their children and grandchildren. Dad leaves to mourn in passing his three children, Neil and his child-ren, Lauren and Evan, and their mother Karen (Morin); Gary and Tanya (Tetgrade), their son Andre and Gary's daughter Shereka; Lori and Gerry (Berard), their children, Bobbi, Kristin and Jason, Dad also leaves three sisters-in-law, Alice Ellison, her children, Blair and Maureen and their families; Lorraine and Richard Lewko; Linda and Kris Jagassar and children, Terry, Shauna and Gregory; and his brother-in-law Ray Olekson, Shirley and their children, Candace, Amanda and Andrew. Uncle Bob held a special place in the hearts of all the nieces and nephews - not to mention the McDermid Kids. Earlier this year in March - dad lost his best friend - his dog Buttons. He had suffered many losses in the past five years - but we believe he died of a broken heart and is now at peace with our mother. While beautiful for the family, flowers are gratefully declined. Please honour our dad with donations to either Children's Wish Foundation or Ronald McDonald House. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 25, at 1:00 p.m. at the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre, (at the corner of Beach Road/Hwy. 17 and Main Street, Teulon) with lunch to follow. A private family interment will take place. Dad, Papa, Grandpa, Homer While our hearts are broken we know that you are in a better place. We love you.
