PIERRE CHAMMARTIN

November 27, 2004

PIERRE CHAMMARTIN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Pierre Chammartin. Pierre was born icon in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, MB, on November 12, 1926. Music was a big part of his life from early on as he and his brothers played guitar and violin at home and in their community. Pierre began his work life as a carpenter until a heart condition necessitated a change of occupation. That's when this self taught musician began to study music more seriously. He became a music teacher and worked as a musician from then on. His career as a musician lasted over 30 years. Dad taught each of his five children to play the guitar and encouraged us to play other instruments as well. We have many fond memories of playing and singing together at family gatherings. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years Marthe (nee Bourrier); his children, Denise, Guy, Marcel, Carole and Jacques; his grandchildren, Genevieve, Max, Joseph, Madeline, Mathieu, Danielle, Sarah, Misty and Laura, Anne and Scott, Joel and Renee; and his great-grandchildren, Elena, Grace and Jax. We'll always remember Dad's "joie de vivre", his optimism and his sense of humour. We'll miss you and we all love you. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kevin Coates and the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital, 6A Medicine Ward for their compassionate care and support. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2004, at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St., with Fr. Fred Olds presiding. Private family interment will take place at a later date at the St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. The Desjardins Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 233-4949 or toll free 1-888-233-4949. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.obituariestoday.com

John was born icon in St. Catharines, ON, June l7, l920, and died in Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, on Monday, November 22, 2004. Since the age of l3 John wanted to be a minister, and never lost sight of his aim. When The Second World War broke out John joined the R.C.A.F. and served for five years in Canada, Britain and Italy. He served for many years on the Board of the Baptist Union of Western Canada, moving up to become the President. He fulfilled his responsibilities in his unique way. To know her was to love her for she was one of the gentlest, kindest and most thoughtful persons imaginable.
