COCHRANE - William (Bill) Cochrane passed away peacefully in Calgary on Monday, May 8, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 69 years. He came from Flat Rock, Newfoundland in 1947, and enjoyed a thirty-four year Career with Air Canada in Montreal and Calgary. Bill is the beloved husband of Therese; and loving father to three daughters, Gail (Holland) Ross, Joan (Dennis) Walker and Cathy (Allen) Kasner; a son William Cochrane; as well as his grandchildren, Paul and Alenna Kasner, and Joey and Anne Walker. He is also survived by two sisters, Anastasia Latta and Margaret Batten; and three brothers, Joseph Cochrane, James Cochrane and David Cochrane. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY "Eastside Memorial Chapel" (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.), on Thursday, May 11, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Valentino Alberton of Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church officiating. COMSTOCK - Albert Bernard Comstock passed away at the High River Hospital on May 8, 2000, at the age of 88 years. He was born icon on the family ranch at Pine Coulee, south of Nanton, on September 29, 1911. He was predeceased by his wife Eleanor on April 28, 1950, his parents, Francis on May 1, 1956, and Mary Comstock on September 4, 1956, his brothers, Gordon in 1988, John in 1991, Wilbert in 1994, Norman in 1995 and Ross in 1998. He is survived by his sister Mary Beeza of Nanton and numerous nieces and nephews. By request, there will be no Service held. Cremation arrangements in care of Parklawn Crematorium.

CURRIE - Ronald (Ron) Theodore Currie of Calgary, passed away at the Colonel Belcher Hospital on Sunday, May 7, 2000 at the age of 77 years. Ron was born icon July 24, 1922 in Calgary. He joined the Army during World War II and had served overseas. Ron enjoyed a long truck-driving career with CFCN Television's mobile football crew. Ron is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mel and Pat Currie of Airdrie; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Marelyn and Roger Dubois of Balzac, AB and Debbie and Jerry Boudreau of Airdrie; nine grandchildren, Brenda, Jeff, Stacey, Darcy, Terra, Chad, Todd, Laurie and Lindsay; and a great-grandson Noah. He is also survived by three sisters, Bernice Ertmoed of Vernon, BC, Myrtle Porter of Calgary, and Norma Seeger of Delia; and two brothers, Don Currie and Allen Currie, both of Black Diamond, AB; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his wife Nellie in 1985. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Airdrie Funeral Home" (300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, Alberta), on Thursday, May 11, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. with Carol Barwick, Chaplain of the Colonel Belcher Hospital officiating. GOYKE - Lorne Goyke passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 7, 2000, at the age of 63 years. He is survived by his loving family. An informal celebration of Lorne's life will be held at 7208 - 21 Street S.E., Calgary, AB, on Saturday afternoon, May 13, 2000. HARDING - It is with great sorrow that the family of William "Bill" Ernest Harding announce his passing at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on Friday, May 5, 2000, at the age of 70 years. Bill will be dearly missed by his children Carrie Paterson (Andrew Skinner) and Dwayne Harding; his grandchildren Shawn, Sarah and Natasha Paterson and Daniella Harding, all from Calgary; his sister Mavis (Tom) Fahlman of Edmonton, nephews John and Paul Fahlman; cousins, Bob (Betty) Collier of Airdrie and Stan (Sheila) Collier of Castor; numerous other relatives and friends. Bill was predeceased by a son, A. Ernest Harding on January 18, 1989, and his parents, Albert E. Harding in 1934 and Martha Harding in 1995. Bill was born icon on August 26, 1929, in Castor, AB. He enjoy a long and successful career in the Oil and Gas industry, spending the better part working with Dome Petroleum, before retiring with J.B. Bootsman in 1990. Upon retirement, Bill spent countless hours volunteering for local charities and was an active member of Southwood United Church. Bill's other passions were for music, curling and travel and his family will cherish the scrapbooks that he created from those endeavors. Upon life's end, all we can hope is that our life had purpose. Dad, yours meant everything to us and we miss you so. KESLER - Arthur Godfrey Kesler of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on May 8, 2000, at the age of 69 years. Art is survived by his wife Louise; sons, Arthur and Kenneth; mother Jessie,; sister Lavore (Orville) Waddle of Claresholm, Alberta; brothers, Gordon (Dorothy) Kesler of Acme, Alberta, and Owen (Eleanor) Kesler of Cardston, Alberta. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Darlene (Dennis) Gooch of Vulcan, Alberta, and Joan (Bruce) Geldart of Oakville, Ontario; aunts, Leah Asplund of Picture Butte, Alberta, Vilda Quaife of Taber, Alberta, and Olis Nyman of Logan, Utah; uncle Joe (Buddy) Godfrey of Taber, alberta; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his Dad, Devore Kesler in 1991. Art loved aviation and always felt so fortunate to have had his career in this field which spanned the Canadian Airforce, C.P. Air, Pacific Petroleums and various other companies until his retirement with Petro Canada. A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W. LEBSACK - Gerry Lebsack, of Calgary, AB, husband and best friend of Leslie, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2000 at the Rosedale Hospice following a courageous battle with cancer. Gerry was born icon on November 30, 1946, in Alaska where his parents served as missionaries. In 1976, Gerry founded Alberta Pest Control Services. Under his leadership, the company grew to become Alberta's largest pest control company. In 1997, he was a recipient of the Great Albertan Award. Gerry "wore his faith on his sleeve" and shared his personal testimony at every opportunity. His greatest joy was to help others, and especially young people. Gerry had a passion for helping disadvantaged youth through programs like Street Lights and Campus Life at Calgary Youth For Christ, and various Calgary West Rotary Club projects. He was also an active supporter of Operation Eyesight Universal, and established a scholarship for students with financial needs at Rocky Mountain College. Gerry became a Rotarian in 1988 and was active in the Rotary Foundation as a multiple Paul Harris Fellow. He was instrumental in developing the Calgary West Rotary Club's Cars 4 Kids Cancer car show and the club's long-time partnership with Lord Shaughnessy High School. Gerry was a true "friend of the friendless" who gave quiet, but unquestioning support to those facing difficult challenges. At a spontaneous "Wake" on February 23, over one-hundred-eighty friends came together to celebrate his life and share about the ways he had touched their lives. Gerry and Leslie loved to travel and shared many adventures with family and friends in distant places. His love for people was especially evident during weekends at the cabin at Pine Lake where Gerry and Leslie made everyone feel welcome and part of the family. Besides his loving wife Leslie, of thirty-one years, Gerry is survived by his mother Vera; brothers, John (Beth), Dan (Teresa); sister Judi; and nieces and nephews, Wendy (Neil), Jay (Tara), Rob, Michelle, Jennifer, and Greg. His memory will also be cherished by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Gerry was predeceased by his father Ben in August 1984. The second celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, May 10, 3:00 p.m. at Centre Street Church, with Randy Steinwand, President of Youth for Christ Canada, officiating. Centre Street Church is located at 4120 Centre Street North. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Rosedale Hospice. It can truly be said of Gerry... "He Made A Difference!" LEWIS - Jean Heather (Moore) Lewis, beloved wife of Gerald Charles Lewis, passed away suddenly on April 27, 2000. Besides her loving husband, Jean is survived by her sons, Gary W. Stevenson (Lyn) of Couquitlam, B.C. and Roy L. Stevenson, (Lynne) of Victoria, B.C. and their families. During the Second World War, Jean was a lieutenant with the A.T.S. Division of the British Womens Army Corps. She will also be lovingly remembered by her neighbors and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at LEYDEN'S "Chapel of Remembrance" (17 Avenue and 2nd Street SW) on Saturday May 13, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Stephen Reta Wilk officiating. MACKENZIE - William Campbell Born September 28, 1926. Passed away May 9, 2000. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Laurie (Ken), Jodie (Scott) Blasken of Calgary, and Leanne Mackenzie of Mountain View, California; his grandsons, Jameson Blasken and Stuart and Joey; his sister Morie Hall and her children, Glenn and Kelly of Wenatchee, Washington; and his friend Vivienne Douglas. Bill was born icon in Fort Macleod and as a child lived in various towns in Alberta following his bank manager father. He spent his high school years in Warner, Alberta. He moved to Calgary in 1945 to attend SAIT (Alberta College of Art). He was an accomplished artist. Besides his passion for golf and hockey, Bill loved to dance. He was a member of the Calgary Jazz Society and especially liked Dixieland and the Big Band Era. Bill was employed by Home Oil for thirty-four years until his retirement in 1986.
