MUSGREAVE - Eric Charles Musgreave, died on Friday, June 16, 2000, after an active life of service to his community and province. Eric was born icon in Condor, Alberta, on July 21, 1921. His formative years were spent in Calgary in the Victoria Park district. After attending Western Canada High School, he served with the RCAF from 1939 to 1945. In 1942 Eric married icon his wife and lifelong companion Betty. The road they traveled together led them through Newfoundland and to Ottawa, where Eric completed his Bachelor of Commerce at Carleton. Eric and Betty moved to Calgary in 1951. He was employed by Imperial Oil for the next twenty-five years. Eric became involved with the Rosemont Community and served as president of the Centennial Ravine Park Society. Confederation Park was the result and its opening in 1967 was an occasion of great pride for Eric. He was awarded the Jaycee Citizen of the Year for 1967 for his efforts. Eric moved into civic politics as an Alderman from 1967 to 1974 and then into provincial service as the MLA for Calgary McKnight, from 1975 to 1989. Eric was active throughout his life, enjoying gardening, reading, traveling and meeting with The Knights of the Round Table. Above all, Eric enjoyed being with people. Eric will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Eric is survived by his wife Betty; children, Peter (Patty) of Port Perry, Diane (Lawrie Mack), Keith (Deanna) of Calgary, and Neil (Kathy) of Castlegar; four grandchildren, Lara, Leland, Kelsey and Shaylan; and sisters, Irene (Cliff Thomas) and Mary (Donald Nicholson). RIMBEY - Leslie Jacob Rimbey passed away at the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary on June 17, 2000 at the age of 89 years. He lost a son, Roger to cancer in 1990. Leslie is survived by a daughter Duane Marie (James) McLauchlan; a daughter-in-law; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother Victor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. ROBAK - Mrs. Natalia (Nettie) Robak of Calgary, passed away at the Bethany Care Centre on June 14, 2000, at the age of 90 years. Nettie was born icon in Buniw, Ukraine, on November 29, 1909, daughter of Stefan Hrynyshyn and Paraska Dyshko and immigrated to Canada in 1927 to Edmonton, residing in Calgary since 1931. Mrs. Robak was a longtime and dedicated member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Parish. She served as President of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League and was active in the Canadian Citizenship Council. Mrs. Robak cared for many, opening her heart and home to those in need. Nettie was predeceased by her son Steve Joseph Harris in April of 1984, Great Falls, Montana, and by her husband Fred on June 12, 2000, Calgary, as well as three sisters in Ukraine and one sister in Canada. Surviving to mourn her passing are her adopted daughter Margaret Renwick (Rodger); her grandchildren, Craig Harris, Sonya Farquhar, Karlyn Renwick; and great-granddaughter Natalia Farquhar; as well as many nieces and nephews in Ukraine and Canada. Panakhyda Service at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 - 6 Street N.E.), on Tuesday, June 20, 2000 at 8:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be held at the Church on Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. SIMIOLI - Narciso Luigi Simioli, our beloved father and nonno passed away suddenly at home in Calgary, on June 16, 2000, at the age of 84 years. Nick was born icon in Final Di Rero in the province of Ferrara, Italy, on August 27, 1915. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 and settled with his family in Calgary. He was employed by The City of Calgary until his retirement in 1980. Nick loved to keep busy and was known to many friends as Nick the plumber. His door was open to everyone. His wonderful sense of humour kept everyone laughing while his stories of Italy kept us riveted. He was never without that special twinkle in his eye. We will fondly miss his laughter, generosity, strength and courage and most of all his love. We have lost a treasure. He will be forever missed by his loving children, Daniella (Dennis) Priebe, Theresa (Cecil) Taylor, Lily Simioli, Rita (Glenn) Kubik, David (Debbie) Simioli; twelve grandchildren, Corrina, Cindy, Lisa, Rachel, Stefanie, Kimberly, Maxine, Leanne, Heather, Russell, Chelsea, Jenelle; and three great-grandchildren, Bryan, Nicole and Amy. He is also survived by a brother Luigi; and a sister Filomena in Italy. He was predeceased by his loving wife Ida in 1982, his parents, Ernesto and Teresa, three brothers and five sisters. SOUTAR - David Robert passed away suddenly at St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver, BC, on June 13, 2000, at the age of 57 years. David is survived by a loving son Sean (Kristi) of Calgary, AB; mother Elizabeth, sister Helen (Zoli), both of Stouville, Ont.; also his loving companion and dear friend Delores of Vernon, BC, and her brother Walter of White Rock, BC. He will be sadly missed by John, Mike and Caroline (Delores's children) and Earl and Edna Robinson of Calgary; also nieces and nephews and extended family across Canada. A Graveside Service of Remembrance will be held at Caroline Cemetery, Caroline, AB, Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at 1:00 p.m. Following Service, a reception will be held at Youth Hall, Caroline, AB. TEWNION - Fergus John Tewnion, born icon in Edmonton, died at home on Thursday, June 15, 2000 at the age of 40 years. Fergus will be remembered for his independent spirit, determination and zest for life. He was an active member and supporter of the British sports car community and owner of British Auto Specialists. Sharing his parents' love of the mountains, the Rockies have always held a special meaning for Fergus and his family. Fergus was a loving husband and father who will be dearly missed by his wife Karen and son Alexander; sister Alisoun-Jess (Peter) and their children, Emma and Iain; brother Angus (Laura); aunt Moira; uncle Sandy (Doreen); as well as a wide circle of caring friends and extended family. Fergus is predeceased by his parents, John and Margaret Tewnion. CROOKS - Stanley Russell Crooks passed away peacefully at the High River Hospital on September 28, 2000, after a lengthy illness. Born on January 19, 1922 at Mannville, AB, Stan joined the Royal Bank of Canada in 1939 and served the banks in Alberta for over forty years, except for wartime service in the RCAF as a pilot from 1943 to 1945. He married icon Helen Harrow of Clive, AB on September 30, 1945 and they had three boys. After his retirement from the Royal as an Assistant Manager of the Main Branch in Calgary in 1982, he and Helen retired to High River. Besides his family, Freemasonry was a very large part of his life. He was Past Master and Secretary-Treasurer of Granite Lodge No. 127 AF & AM in Blackie, member of the Royal Arch and other concordant bodies and Secretary of the Foothills Shrine Club. He is survived by his loving wife Helen; sons, Robert (Sharon), Brian (and friend Sandra Kobi), and Murray (Ristuko) and grandson Kai. He was predeceased by his parents, W. Norman and Ellen Crooks of Mannville and a brother Robert, killed in action in World War II. The family wish to thank the staff at the High River Hospital for their wonderful care and all their friends and neighbours, especially the Baldwins, for all their kindnesses during this difficult time. DEYELL - Eleanor M. Deyell, beloved wife of the late Ronald Deyell, passed away peacefully at the Southwood Care Centre on Friday, September 29, 2000 in her ninety first year. Mrs. Deyell is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Brian McCartney of Calgary; a daughter-in-law Barbara Deyell of Toronto; seven grandchildren, Scott (Kerry), Bruce (Gay Lynn), James (Ellen), and Heather (Armin Schafer), all of Calgary, and Jennifer (Bryce MacNaughton), Shannon and Kelly, all of Toronto; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Peggy Ulmer and her husband Victor of Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband in April of 1986, her son Robert in December 1994, her sister Hett Heinrich of Winnipeg and her brother Jack Schofield of Calgary. Mrs. Deyell was born icon in Saskatchewan and raised in Alberta. She graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1932 with a degree in Home Economics. Mrs. Deyell married icon her late husband in September 1933. During his long career as a manager in the hotel industry, she was a gracious hostess to social events, particularly at the Banff Springs Hotel, the Royal Alec in Winnipeg and the Palliser Hotel in Calgary. Mrs. Deyell was a long-term member of the Calgary Golf and Country Club, the Glencoe Club and the Children's Hospital Aid Society. Ethel lived in Montreal for ninety-one years and came to Calgary four years ago. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be missed by her family and friends.
