BARTON - Gary Allan Barton of Calgary passed away at the Agape Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer on August 20, 2001 at the age of 62 years. Gary will be dearly missed by his children, Tammy (Art), Steven; and his beloved grandchildren, Zachary (eight) and Brayden (five). He will also be lovingly remembered by Trudy Willms, Brad Willms, Fred Myers and Chris Young; as well as his father Ed (Grace) of Kelowna; and his brother Allan (Salley) of St. Catharines, Ontario. Gary was predeceased by his wife of eighteen years, Marilynn in 1986 and his daughter Patty Ann in 1976. Special thanks to the palliative home care team, Karla, Pauline, and Brian as well as the staff of Agape Hospice and all of the friends and relatives who have extended their kindness, prayers, and support. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their condolences are asked to consider making a donation to the Agape Hospice (1302 - 8 Avenue N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 1B8). BROWN - Robert James Brown passed away suddenly on August 20, 2001 at the age of 16 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Stephen and Rosa; sisters, Jennifer and Jessica; Grandparents, Nona and Nono Pietrovito, Grandma and Grampa Brown; his lifetime friends, Nathan Swann, Alex Woldermicheal, Jenna Nakamura; as well as many other family and friends.

CONLEY - Margaret of Calgary passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Monday, August 20, 2001 at the age of 85 years. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Verdun in 1985. Loving mother to Terry, his wife Linda, Gerry, her husband Nick, and Larry, his wife Carol Ann; grandmother to Reed (his wife Elizabeth), Jennifer, Amanda (her husband Dave) and Tyler; great-grandmother to Bryce and Joshua. She was the fifth child of Roland and Margaret Coates and is survived by a sister Jean Coates of Calgary and a brother Bob Coates of Edmonton. Margaret was born, raised and lived all her life in the community of Killarney. Many people will remember Margaret for her participation in community events at The Killarney Community Hall in the 1950's and 1960's, and her curling and bowling in southwest leagues. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so prior to the Service. D'ARCY - Julia Olga D'Arcy (nee Golia), born icon in Lethbridge on November 13, 1924, passed away peacefully at the Rosedale Hospice on Sunday, August 19, 2001 at the age of 76 years, following a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her three children, Bill Jumarchik of Coleman, Susan (Terry) Wyatt of Blairmore and Beverly Diduck of Plenty, Saskatchewan; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; as well as by her dear sister Josephine Patterson of Victoria, B.C. and nieces and nephews. Julia was predeceased by her husband Ron in 1988, her parents, four sisters and six brothers. DAVIDSON - The family of Mr. Norman Peter Davidson are saddened to announce his passing on August 20, 2001 at the age of 67 years. In addition to Norm's loving wife Bette, of forty-five years, he is survived by his five children, Kathy, Julie (Tony) and their children, Cole, Mac and Jay, Norman Jr., Patti (Dave), Andrea (Mike). Norm is also survived by two brothers, Raymond (Judith), Jim (Vici); numerous nieces and nephews; his aunt Audrey Forzani; and her three sons, Joe, John and Tom and their families. Norm was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Juliette Davidson. Norm worked for thirty-five years in the Heavy Equipment and Construction Business and will be missed by his many friends and colleagues. DUERDEN - John William Duerden, beloved son of John and Karen Duerden and brother to Dan, passed away in Turbine Canyon, Kananaskis August 16 at the age of 16 1/2 years. John is survived by his mother and father, brother Dan, Uncle Richard and Auntie Sarah Duerden of Scottsdale, Arizona, Uncle Joe Stott and Auntie Susan of Vancouver, Uncle Art Stott of Red Deer, Grandma Ethel Stott of Lethbridge and Grandpa John and Grandma Pat Duerden of Arnside, England. John is also fondly remembered by all in the Stott, Meads and Duerden extended families, all his friends and teammates. Born in Calgary February 2, 1985 John attended Silver Springs Nursery School and W.O. Mitchell Elementary. After completing the Queen Elizabeth junior high GATE program John attended Bowness high school for grades 10 and 11. John enjoyed playing indoor and outdoor soccer for many of his years most recently on the Blizzards U16 Division II team going to the Alberta provincial championship this year. John also enjoyed computer games, D&D, skiing, roller-blading and the company of his many friends. John will be dearly missed by his family and friends for his cheery laughter and happy view of life. FISHER - Andrew Derek Fisher passed away in a tragic car accident on August 20, 2001 at the age of 17 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his mom Lanie Fisher (stepdad Steve Hampton); sister Amanda (Trevor) and their children, Kayla and Jayna; brother Jeremy (Maria); stepbrothers, Daniel (Sara) and Matthew; grandparents, Nel and Cees Boei; nana Louise Jones; Derek Pope; uncles, John (Elvira) Boei, Bill (Susan) Boei and Len Boei; as well as numerous cousins and relatives. Andrew will also be held dearly in the heart of Stephanie Serwa whom he loved very much. Andrew was an exceptional young man who was loved by many people and he touched the lives of everyone he knew. Andrew lived life to the fullest. He was passionate and loving and was always there for his family and friends. He was an excellent student and artist who loved nature. FLORENCE - Mrs. Dora Florence, a woman of generosity and valor after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 20, 2001 in the comfort of her home and with the love of her family. Dora was born icon in Paris, France, and immigrated to Canada in 1959. Dora radiated beauty, both inside and out. She was known for her kind and tender disposition, her companionship, and for always being there for others. To know Dora was to love her. Dora contributed to the community at large. She was an ardent supporter and involved in all facets of Jewish life, as well as an avid and long-time supporter and sponsor of both the Calgary Philharmonic and the Calgary Opera. Dora will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her husband Les Florence; son Bernard Florence and his fiancee Carol Burch; daughter Caroline Deutsch and her husband Eddie of New York; and two grandchildren, Jonathan Florence and Tyler Deutsch. Family was foremost for Dora. She is also survived by her brother Jacques Mydlarski and his wife Lila, their children, Dr. Marc Mydlarski of Montreal and Karen Parker of Regina; brother Dr. Henri Mydlarski and his wife Donna, their children Dr. Regine Mydlarski of Toronto and Dr. Laurent Mydlarski of Montreal; sister Micheline Aronowiez and her husband Bernard of Paris, their daughter Corinne Buckley of Los Angeles; and brother Robert Mydlarski and his wife Vivi of Israel, their children Martine, Fabian and Franck. GAJECKI - Stanley Gajecki, beloved husband of Sophie of Calgary, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on August 19, 2001 at the age of 70 years. Stanley was born icon on December 30, 1930 in Stolin, Poland. As a young man during the Second World War he withstood the hardships of working in labour camps in Germany with his family from 1942 to 1945, and then in refugee camps until 1950. He immigrated to Turin, Alberta in 1950 and later relocated to Calgary in 1952. He spoke five languages and worked primarily in the hotel industry for thirty-four years where he made many good friends. During that time he also started his own business in the real estate sector buying, managing and beautifully maintaining residential properties of which he was extremely proud. He and his wife of forty-nine years, Sophie, were at each other's side working as a team throughout all these years. Retirement was not in his vocabulary and he lived his life in full measure. Stanley had a passion for athletics and the great outdoors. For sixteen years he played soccer both in Germany and with the White Eagles Soccer Team of Calgary. As a young father he always enjoyed packing the family vehicle every summer and driving on long extended camping trips to the West Coast and the North Western United States. In more recent years he and Sophie would look forward to camping in the BC interior as well as holiday trips to Hawaii and Australia. He loved to explore and was always planning the next trip. Most of all he was a devoted husband and father and loved his family. Besides his loving wife, Stanley is survived by two daughters, Brenda (David) and Regina (Barry); and two grandchildren, Chad and Mitch; two sisters, Mary and Donna; and his uncle Rev. Walerjan Gajecki. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Maria and his sister Brenda and brother Ed. Dad, we will miss you with all our hearts. May you find peace in Heaven. The family will hold a private Memorial Service to fulfill Stanley's final wishes.
