HIMMELMAN - Mr. Laurence Arthur Himmelman (Himmy), beloved husband of Mrs. Peggy Himmelman of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Sunday, August 19, 2001 at the age of 80 years. Himmy was born icon and raised in Calgary and was an active member of the Calgary Yacht Club and member of the Gyro Club of Calgary since 1953. He enjoyed sailing and curling. Besides his loving wife, Himmy is survived by one son, four daughters, two stepdaughters, one stepson, eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his first wife Kitty, his parents and his brother. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Eastside Memorial Chapel", (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.), on Friday, August 24, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Donald C. HOLIZKI - Tragically, Kalei Jasmine Holizki was taken from us in a car accident at the age of 16 years. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Kalei lived her early childhood in Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary seven years ago. In Calgary she attended St. John School of Fine Arts, St. Vincent, St. Francis and Bishop Carroll. She was entering Grade 11 this year. Kalei is lovingly remembered by her mother Lorene of Calgary; her father Peter of Hawaii; and her grandparents, Helen and Zachary of Briercrest, Saskatchewan. She is also remembered by her uncles, Barry of Calgary, and John of Briercrest; her aunt Karen of Calgary; and many cousins, relatives and friends. To all who knew her, Kalei was determination, energy and love. Kalei's talent for fine arts radiated from her and wherever Kalei went, she sang and danced or captured the beauty of her world through her art on paper. Her gift to all of us who knew her was to watch her grow from cygnet to swan and we have been blessed by that gift. JETTE - George A. Jette, born icon in Pincher Creek, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 years at the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary on August 19, 2001. George is lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-three years, Edie. He leaves his children, Kelly, Nancy and Linnea, and their families, with many fond memories of home, Wasa Lake and Kelowna. A younger brother Jack, currently residing in Beaver Mines, Alberta, also survives him. George flew with the RCAF during World War II, worked with the CPR and drove with Greyhound Bus Lines before entering a career in the steel industry. He traveled widely throughout Western Canada building strong business relationships, and forging lifelong friendships. Our "poppa" will be remembered for his unfaltering love for his children, his grandchildren and his four-legged friends. At George's request, a Memorial will not be held. JOHNSTON - It is with deep sadness the family of William (Bill) Johnston announce his passing on Sunday, August 19, 2001. Bill was born icon in Winnipeg on June 22, 1920 and has lived in Calgary for the past twenty-seven years. He was a hard worker and greatly enjoyed his career that spanned over thirty years with Northern Electric and twenty-five years with ICI (Canada) and Tiger Chemicals. Throughout much of his career Bill traveled extensively, and always relished the times he returned home to his family. Bill will be sorely missed for his quick wit and never-ending sense of fun. Along with his wife of forty-eight years, Audrey, Bill is survived by two sons and two daughters, Bob of Kitchener, ON, Paul of Edmonton, Brenda (David) and Lynn, all of Calgary; as well as three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Bill's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Doctors and Nursing Staff of Unit 59 at the Rockyview General Hospital for all their kindness and tremendous care during this most difficult time. JONES - Nancy Carkeek Jones (nee Lanham) passed gently into God's hands on Sunday, August 19, 2001 surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born icon in Redruth, Cornwall, England and came to Canada as a baby. She met her husband and best friend whom she married icon in June of 1944. Her soft, tender ways made her a devoted wife, mom and grandma. This devotion has been the inner strength on which she shaped our lives, teaching us all to be kind, caring and loving. Her smile was the sunshine that guided us through each and every day. She was the centre of our world and will stay a part of us forever. Nancy was predeceased by her loving husband, and grandson Geoffrey. She is survived by five daughters, Dianne (Dennis), Glynda, Marilyn (John), Shelley (Ken) and Nancy Jane (Gino); fifteen grandchildren, Darcy (Kim), Kelly, Melodie, Jason, Tyler, Lyndsey, Ashley, Colby, Robynne, Lacey, Kyley, Brady, Gillian, Gradey and Meghan; her brother William (Stephanie); and numerous nieces and nephews. KRUEGER - Mrs Milda Krueger passed away peacefully at the George Boyack Nursing Home on Friday, August 17, 2001 at the age of 90 years. Milda was predeceased by her husband Daniel in 1997. TAYLOR - Mrs. Irene Taylor of Airdrie, beloved wife of Donald, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2000 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital at the age of 64 years. She is the loving mother of two daughters, Lorraine of Airdrie, Alberta, Debbie of Balzac, Alberta; son Chris (Florence) of Surrey, B.C.; five grandchildren, Jason, Tamara, Kimberly, Mark and John; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. She was a very caring and giving person who touched the hearts of many. Irene devoted her life to care for her disabled daughter and any person, child, animal or plant that was in need. WELLS - Edith Marion was peacefully called home to her Lord on Tuesday, September 26, 2000 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Gloria (Roger) Benard, Calgary, Lana (Bill) Worthington, Calgary, Ross (Lynn) Wells, Lethbridge; grandchildren, Krista and Brianne Wilson, Carrie and Kelly Worthington, Steven, Katelyn and Leah Wells; and great-granddaughter Cierra Wilson; sisters, Delores (Bill) Gallelli, Joyce Stalinski, and Shirley (Howard) Black; along with their children, Joanne Stalinski, Rick and Lori Black. At Mom's request, there was no Funeral Service, rather, a small, intimate Mass was held on Friday, September 29 at St. John's Catholic Church. URSZULAN - Chester Barry passed away on Friday, June 16, 2000 at the age of 43 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Bonnie; daughter Stevie; son Ryan; and mother Ann. He is survived by nine brothers, five sisters and thirteen nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father John and brother Jerry. Chester was a loving husband and father. He touched many lives with his kindness and helpfulness. He will be sorely missed by all he touched throughout his short life. VAN VOLKENBURG - Helen Anne, of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on June 11, 2000. She was predeceased by her husband Stirling on April 23, 1998.
