1921 - 2003. Agnes Hughes of Calgary, AB (formerly of Oshawa) passed away after a brief illness at the Rockyview General Hospital on Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at the age of 81 years. Agnes is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Chet Mills, 3 grandchildren, Debbie (Ken) Nowakowski, Stephen (Dee) Mills and Stephanie Mills, 3 great-grandchildren Brandon and Dylan Nowakowski and Jakob Mills, all of Calgary; brother Alex Paterson, brother-in-law John (Doris) Hughes, and sister-in-law Sally Kent all of Oshawa, as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Agnes was predeceased by her husband Joffre Hughes in 1987. Funeral Services will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE (847 King St. W.) on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. Graveside Service to follow at Mount Lawn Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Unit 61, Rockyview General Hospital, 7007 - 14th Street, S.W., Calgary, Alberta T2V 1P9.

Longtime owner of Harwood Martinizing, Ajax. Suddenly in Ajax, on Monday January 20, 2003 at the age of 53. Gene, beloved husband & best friend for 32 years of Linda (Lin) Colebrooke. Loving son of Ivy & her husband Denis Lauchlan and the late Jack Colebrooke. Dear brother of Jackie Gallagher, Terry Gehmair, and the late Chris & Bonnie Colebrooke. Dear son in law of the late Ida & Tony Arezza. The loyal staff members & customers of Harwood Martinizing will miss Gene's presence. She will be remembered fondly by her grandchildren Tarra, David and Meredith, also great grandchildren Thomas and Laura. RITCHIE, Violet -
Peacefully, passed away on January 20, 2003, at the Toronto General Hospital, at the age of 69. Beloved wife of the late William Glenville. Loving mother to son Robert and daughter Deborah Milligan. Cherished grandmother to 7 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Also will be sadly missed by Judith, Victor, Terry, Shirley and her brother John. (Retired from General Motors; Long time member of the Canadian Corps Association Unit 42). Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Monday January 20, 2003. Bill Sandford in his 87th year. Husband of the late Alice (nee Foskett). Father of Mary Small & her husband Bob, Jackie Mark & her late husband Brice, Elenor Boivin & her husband John, Danny Sandford & his wife Kathy, Bev Campbell & her husband Larry, Heather Hartley & her husband Rick, and Joan Hunt & her husband Al. Brother of Frances Sandford and the late Daniel Sandford, the late Ellen Evans and the late Mathew Sandford. Survived by 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. At Strathaven Lifecare Centre Bowmanville on Sunday January 19, 2003 in his 90th year. Howard loved son of the late Rena (Jackman) and Charles Bradley. Lovingly remembered by relatives in Quebec, Hamilton, Minden and Bowmanville. Friends were able to call at the Morris Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 2until 3 p.m. Funeral service was held in our Chapel on Tuesday at 3p.m. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery. Donations to Community Care or C.N.I.B. in Howard's memory would be gratefully appreciated.

DUNEC, Steve -
Passed away at Markham-Stouffville Hospital, on Sunday, January 19th, 2003. Steve, dear father of Steven (Anne) and Allan (Ronda). Grandfather of Nickolaus and Carson. Survived by brothers Walter (Cecelia), Norman (Kay), Peter (Sandra), Donald (Joyce), and sister Olga (Orville). Predeceased by Harry (Helen). A memorial service will be held at Low & Low Funeral Home on Thursday, January 23rd, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation two hours prior. EVANS, Captain Douglas Haig -
(Retired from the Royal Canadian Dental Corps and the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry). On Sunday, January 19, 2003 at the age of 34. Doug was the beloved husband of Elsie for 59 years, the loving father of Laurie, and the very proud “Gramps” of Mike and Chris. He was predeceased by his dear son-in-law Barry. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his many friends and relatives in Whitby, Winnipeg, England and Wales. The family would like to thank the very kind and competent staff of 6F at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. According to Doug’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 172 King Street East, Oshawa, Ontario LIH 1B7 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 725 Westney Road South, Ajax, Ontario LIS 7J7 would be much appreciated.
