1921 - 2003. Agnes Hughes of Calgary, AB (formerly of Oshawa) passed away after a brief illness at the Rockyview General Hospital on Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at the age of 81 years. Agnes is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Chet Mills, 3 grandchildren, Debbie (Ken) Nowakowski, Stephen (Dee) Mills and Stephanie Mills, 3 great-grandchildren Brandon and Dylan Nowakowski and Jakob Mills, all of Calgary; brother Alex Paterson, brother-in-law John (Doris) Hughes, and sister-in-law Sally Kent all of Oshawa, as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Agnes was predeceased by her husband Joffre Hughes in 1987. Funeral Services will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE (847 King St. W.) on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. Graveside Service to follow at Mount Lawn Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Unit 61, Rockyview General Hospital, 7007 - 14th Street, S.W., Calgary, Alberta T2V 1P9.

(Retired from the Royal Canadian Dental Corps and the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry). On Sunday, January 19, 2003 at the age of 34. Doug was the beloved husband of Elsie for 59 years, the loving father of Laurie, and the very proud “Gramps” of Mike and Chris. He was predeceased by his dear son-in-law Barry. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his many friends and relatives in Whitby, Winnipeg, England and Wales. The family would like to thank the very kind and competent staff of 6F at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. According to Doug’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
