(Retired G. M. Employee). Passed away peacefully with his family at his side after a long battle with cancer at Taunton Mills Nursing Home, Whitby in his 81st. year. Grant, beloved husband of the late Lila. Loving father of Sharon and her friend Jim, Bonnie, Susan and Don, Terry and Susanne, David, Gary and Janina, and Chris and Alex. Dear grandfather of John, Jamie, Michael, Laura, Brenda, Scott, Cory, Terri-Lynn, Joshua, Shannon, Ryan, Jennifer, Leah, Kailey, Jeffrey and great-grandfather of Justin, Chelsea, Zachary, Nicole, Logan, Kaitlyn, Trevor, and Joanna. Fondly remembered by his brother Wayne and his wife Shirley. Predeceased by his parents Stewart and Gertrude Miller, and by his sister Edna. Interment, GROVESIDE Cemetery, Brooklin. In memoriam, donations may be made to the the Lakeridge Health Oshawa "Heroes of Hope Campaign". Peacefully at home on Sunday August 31, 2003. Edge in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Betty (nee McPhail). Loving father of Hal and his wife Joyce and Kathy and her husband Bryan Beckett. Dear poppa of Connie, Matt, Alex, Erin and Andrew, and great grand Poppa to Peyton, Janette and Jaimin. Loving brother of Mildred McTaggart and the late Milton, Gladys, Lloyd, Will, George, Essie and Alice. Lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews and his many friends, A Memorial service to celebrate Edge's life will be held on Friday September 5, 2003 at Greenwood United Church at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. LASCHINGER Alan Gordon -
(48 year employee of Domtar) Born in Toronto, Ontario on April 11, 1915 and died on Saturday, August 30, 2003, at age 88, in Kingston, Ontario. Loving husband of the late Elsa Helen Claire Young of Lachine and Montreal, Quebec and the late Gweneth Woodburn Swift of Oshawa. Former resident at White Cliffe Terrace Retirement Residence, Courtice, former resident of Oshawa and longtime resident of Montreal, Quebec; 57 year summer resident at Lake MacDonald, Quebec. Survived by sons John (Carol), Alan (Elizabeth), Fraser and daughter Susan. Will also be missed by sister MargaretGarrett (Cecil), sisters-in-law Merlie and Ada (Broadbridge), grandsons Brett and James (Leslie), granddaughter Jan and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews together with members of Gwen's and Ada's families. Predeceased by brothers James (Elizabeth) and Charles (Merlie) and sister Eleanor Raper (Frank). Cremation has already taken place. Memorial service at Kingsview United Church, 505 Adelaide Ave. E. (at Wilson Rd. N.), Oshawa on Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 1:00pm. Best known for her courage as a war bride from England. Best loved for her kindness as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend.
