(1930-2003). It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful death of Jim Cane on Thursday, April 17, 2003. Beloved husband of the late Holly Bennett. Son of Viola Cane Hanaka and the late Gord Cane (Bewdley). Jim leaves behind his much loved children, Judith (Ian Fisher) in Ottawa and David (Lynanne) in Oakville and their mother, Mariam Shawley (Edmonton). Papa will be sadly missed by grandchildren Matthew & Taylor Cane & Sam Fisher. Dear brother to Diane (Dean Audley) and Don (Donna) of Gore s Landing. Dear uncle to Sarah (Dave) & Jason (Sarah). Thank you to everyone at Amica at Bearbrook Court for taking care of Jim so well. Special thanks to Dr. Ruth Taylor and the doctors and staff on the 6th floor of the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Jim s life, Friday, April 25 at 1:30pm at All Saints Anglican Church, Whitby, Ontario.

CRUICKSHANK, Stephen John Stanley (Kin Steve) -
Suddenly at his residence on April 17, 2003. Stephen, beloved husband of Gosia. Loving son of Shirley (Oxley) and the late John Arthur. Dear brother of Randy and his wife Heather, and nephew Connor. Loving son-in-law of Teodora Mirowska and brother-in-law of Iwona, Krzysiek, Zbyszek, Mariola and his nieces and nephews in Poland. Fondly remembered by his many friends, extended family and the family of Kin. Friends may pay their respects at the Morris Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service complete in the Morris Chapel on Tuesday, April 22 at 11 a.m. Cremation. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association in Stephen's memory would be gratefully appreciated.

CUTTING, Ralph Arthur -
Peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2003 at Lakeridge Health Whitby in his 77th year. Ralph, beloved husband of Rita Cutting. Loved father of Meredith Cutting of Whitby, Robert Cutting and his wife Denise of Oshawa, and Gerard Cutting and his wife Mary-Lou of Mitchell. Dear brother of Eileen Mortimer of Pennsylvania. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Michael, Steven, Mary, Michelle and her husband Andy Martin, Derek, Laura, Jennifer, and Craig. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church (King Street east of Wilson) Oshawa on Friday, April 25th at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Thornton Cemetery, Oshawa. Memorial donations made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (905-433-4711).

Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Thursday April 17, 2003 in his 85th year. Lovingly remembered by his wife Joyce and his children Pat and her husband Graham from Oshawa, Alfred and his partner Beverley from Kingston. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Tammy, Joanne, Sharron and Jason and his great grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan and Caitlin. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa. Dear brother of Dorothy (Lewis), Avard (Laura), Marg, Marion and Raymond (Marilyn). Beloved grandfather to 20 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. SIMPSON, Margaret (Peggy) -
At her home in Ajax, surrounded by her family, on Thursday April 17, 2003, after a battle with cancer. She will be dearly missed by husband Robert, sons Michael, Steven (Dawn) and Jeffrey, grandson Nathan, other members of her family and dear friends. As per Peg's wishes a private celebration of her life will be held. If desired, donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.

SISAK Ernest John -
(Retired employee of O.P.U.C.) Peacefully at Extendicare Nursing Home, Oshawa on Thursday, April 17, 2003. At Ernie's request, cremation will take place with the burial of cremated remains at Oshawa Union Cemetery at a later date. nations in memory of Ernie to a favourite Charity may be made through McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME Ltd., 152 King Street East, Oshawa (905-433-5558).

STEELE, Owen Matthew -
Of Oshawa on April 17th, 2003 peacefully in his 78th year after a short illness. Proud WWII Veteran (Ontario Regiment) and member of the Royal Canadian Legion. A founder and past president of the Scarborough Rod and Gun Club (later Uxbridge Shooting Sports). Mr Steele was an accomplished artist. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Sharon Williams, Carol Steele, Leslie Templeton; his grandchildren Trisha, Amanda, Jennifer, Jami, Ryan and Erica as well as his numerous friends in both Oshawa and Toronto. Many thanks to the nurses and Staff of Mt. Sinai ICU for their dedicated compassionate care during Mr. Steele's illness. The family respectfully requests donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada in memory of Mr. Steel.
Gone, but never forgotten.

HOBSON, Joan Elizabeth -
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 15, 2003 in Bowmanville ON. A wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Joan was cherished by her husband of 58 years John Hobson. Her daughters Susan Mary (Bugeja) Toronto ON, Helen Eleanor (Sholdice) Dublin Ireland, son John Charles, Colborne ON, grandchildren Erin Elizabeth (Mantis) Chicago, Garrett Hobson (Sholdice) Dublin Ireland and daughter-in-law Jeanette (Vroom) and sons-in-law Rennie (Bugeja) and Neil (Sholdice). She is survived by her sister Phyllis (Hosford) Cork Ireland. Her family and friends will mourn her passing with deep sorrow. She was born in Cork Ireland on November 15th 1918. Moved to Canada in July of 1953. Joan worked tirelessly for her family and friends. The family invited friends to a special celebration of her life at Kingsway Lambton United Church 85 The Kingsway, Toronto, ON 416-234-8224 on Monday April 21 at 2p.m. In Joan's memory, donations may be made to the C.N.I.B.

Peacefully at his home with his family and loved ones by his side Tuesday, April 15, 2003 Peter Kloos in his 57th year passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Husband and best friend of Bonnie. Dear father of Jerry and his wife Holly, Andrew, and predeceased by his son Sammy and his parents Amerik and Rolene Kloos. Dearly loved and respected step father of Dennis Scott and wife Toni, Derric Scott, and Denise and husband Rick Holter. Beloved brother of Dean and wife Dale George and wife Helen. Dear grandpa of Chad Scott, Kara and Maggie Scott, and Mitchell Holter. Peter will be sadly missed by his many friends and co-workers.
