STURGEON, Mary Sophia (nee Fish) -
Peacefully while sleeping on Saturday, January 24th, 2004 God called Mary home in her 103rd year. Predeceased by husband Lawson Sturgeon, sons Harold, Clifford and Ivan Sturgeon, daughter-in-law Anne Sturgeon, grandson William (Bill) Sturgeon, granddaughter Dawn Sturgeon and great grandson Matthew Daley. A wonderful woman and mother who will be deeply missed by her children Phyllis Palmer (Jack) of Oshawa, Donald Sturgeon (Margaret) of Trenton and daughter-in-law Dorothy Sturgeon of Trenton. Mary will be remembered as a loving Nanny that shared special tea times with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by great great grandchildren Cody Irvin, Kayla Irvin and Emily Roberts. Fondly remembered by caregiver and special friend Yvonne Vanderhyden. Family and friends attended a Service in celebration of Mary's life at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE "Thornton Chapel" 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) on Tuesday, January 27th at 3:00 P.M. The family requests that donations in memory of Mary be made to the Burn Unit at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

It is with great sadness that the family announces his passing on Saturday January 24, 2004 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in his 85th year. A former resident of Whitby and a World War II Veteran. Garnet, beloved husband of Lorna (nee Prendergast). Dear father of Garnet (Skip) and his wife Donna, Gregory, Glenn and his wife Brenda. Grandfather of Melanie, Michael, Jennifer, Jessica, Justin, Jordan, Aaron, Emily, Matthew, Nicholas, Sarah and Kaili. Survived by his sister Helen Slater. Predeceased by his mother Zell, his brother William (Bill) Worfolk, his sister Wilma Sommers. Mass of the Christian burial was held at St. John the Evangelist Church, Whitby on Wednesday January 28 at 10 am. In memoriam donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 112 Poppy Fund or a Charity of your choice.

DAWSON, Alta Luella -
Peacefully on January 23, 2004 at Versa Care Nursing Home in Uxbridge in her 80th year. Dear daughter of the late William & Cora Dawson, dear sister of Doreen Blakely, Oshawa, Earl & Muriel Dawson of Uxbridge, June Spence of Greenbank and Eunice Finch of Marmora. Predeceased by sister Lorna Corner (Weatherall) and brother Bruce Dawson. Remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. The funeral was held on Sunday January 25th. Donations can be made to Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.

Sandy, beloved husband of Mildred Metcalf. Loved father of Barbara and her husband Lyle Goodin, Alex and his wife Lana, Jim and his wife Lee-Ann. Cherished grandfather of Heather, Nathan, Tyler, Jennifer, Jason, Stephen and Lyndsey. Predeceased by his sisters, Hazel Minto (Andrew), Glen Etta Empringham (John), Sadie Courtice (Eric) and brothers Harold (Frances), Archie (Elnora), Bruce and Bob and by brothers-in-law Alvin Metcalf and John Jeffery. Survived by sisters-in-law Gwen Muir, Jean Jeffery, Muriel Metcalf and brother-in-law Harvey Metcalf and wife Margaret. Sister of May Bradbury and the late Blanche Kellett. Remembered by nieces Donna and Linda. CADE, Alexander William -
Peacefully, in only his 16th month on Thursday, January 22nd, at the Hospital for Sick Children. Held closely by his Mom Susan, with his Dad Jeff at his side, listening to his favorite music. Alex is grandson to Cyril and Rene Cade, and John and Judy Ford, all of Ajax. Alex and his parents were supported by a great family that were always present when needed. Alex was the bravest little boy that anyone could ever imagine, putting up the strongest fight that most of us could not equal, all the time without complaint. He is at peace now, and his family could not be more proud or thankful to have him in their lives, even if for such a short time. Alex, you taught us all how to be stronger and how not to be afraid of anything. We couldn't have asked for anything better. We love you Alex, you will be missed so much. Family and friends were received at the Accetrone Funeral Home on Monday January 26th, 2004. Receiving from 10am-12 noon, Service at 12 noon. Reception to follow at Accettone Funeral Home.
