SANDBROOK, LESLIE GEORGE (Lester) -
On Sunday September 11th, 2005 Grandparents Day at Lakeridge Health Oshawa at 94 years of age. Loving husband of the late Edna Jean Sandbrook (Nicholson), beloved father of Harvey and wife Lynn, Ruth and husband Bob, and Marilyn and husband Dave. Lovingly missed by 9 grand-children and 17 great grandchildren. Eldest brother of Stanley (deceased), Leonard, Bernard (deceased), Elsie, Raymond & Leonne. He loved to entertain with his harmonicas. In his eighties he joined a musical church group and performed at nursing homes entertaining the "old people" until 2003 at the age of 92, when he was put into a nursing home himself. Even then, when he was able he played his harmonica. He was still young at heart. He was a very wise and caring man. He loved to tease and joke. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was laid to rest next to his late wife of 54 years at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Predeceased by his brothers Cliff, Alan and Ronald and his sisters Edna Richards, Winnie Kirkpatrick and Hazel Saunders. VARGA, Frank Sr., BSc. MEd. 1933-2005 -
On Saturday September 10, 2005 God called home Frank Rudolf Varga. Son of the late Julia Varga (nee Minacs) and Janos Varga. Dearly missed brother of Shirley (Alfred) Bino. Born in Toronto, on July 8th, 1933. Frank will be tremendously missed by his devoted wife of twenty-eight years Shirley Varga (nee Hughes) and loving children John, Julia, Frank Jr., adopted daughter Shelley and step-children Debra (Ken) Hodgins and Leslie Jr. (Deb) Shaw. Frank also leaves behind seven grandchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews whom he loved. A man who influenced the lives of so many, Frank was a devoted secondary school teacher of 35 years, teaching students at Eastdale Collegiate in Oshawa and as a Technical Director at Bowmanville High School. Private visitation was held at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, Monday September 12, 2005. Prayers and service for friends and relatives will be held on Friday September 16th at 3 p.m. at UNION CEMETERY in Oshawa (located at Hwy. #2 West).

Loved grandmother of Brian Jr., Rodney, Charles, Andrew, Marie, Jenny, Lindsay, Jamie, Jessica, Trenton, Ryan, Kyle, Deanna, Katie, Teresa, Joel, Kaitlyn and will be missed by her great grandchildren. GALE, Harry Arnold -
April 1, 1945 - September 9, 2005 It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Harry Arnold Gale, known to everyone as 'Arnie'. With his loving wife Elizabeth (Bette)(nee Arnold) holding his hand and by his side he left this world all too young at age sixty. He was born in Winnipeg and was predeceased by his former wife Maggie, his mother Muriel (Bobby) and father Harry (Doc). He leaves behind his sister Melody and brother Mark, nephew Matthew and niece Natalie all of Winnipeg, also a loving mom-in-law Jessie and brothers-in-law Thom, Jim and Fred and their respective wives Gerda, Karen and Jan, his best fishing partner nephew Dave and favourite niece Lauren all of Whitby and nieces Michelle and Melanie of Barrie. Arnie managed the local Zurich Insurance claims office until it was closed and he then worked for Zurich in Toronto. He was eagerly anticipating retirement with his adoring wife Bette when the terrible scourge of cancer hit him in February. He fought bravely but this time cancer won. Please please we must find a cure for this hateful disease! Arnie also leaves behind many wonderful friends and his beloved cat Murray. He was a caring, funny, generous and loving husband and man and the world is a better place for him having been here. We never die when we live in the hearts of those who love us, and love him we did, and do. Mr. Gale will be resting at the W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby 905-668-3410 on Sunday September 11, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service in the chapel on Monday September 12, 2005 at 11 a.m. Interment Thornton Cemetery.
