Mr. Raymond Polsfut
Passed Away: March 1, 2005
POLSFUT Mr. Raymond Richard, aged 75 years, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at the Palliser Regional Care Centre. Ray was born in Vanguard, Saskatchewan on July 1, 1929. He attended Moundville country school to Grade eight. He married Mary Braun in 1951. They lived in Vanguard and he worked for the CPR. In 1954, they moved to Swift Current, where, he was employed by the City of Swift Current, as an Equipment Operator. In 1969, Ray and Mary bought a farm at Cando, Saskatchewan, which they farmed for several years. He continued his Forman job with the city during this time, until his retirement in 1989, after 35 years of service. Ray was a dedicated husband, and father to his two boys, and their families. He was always ready to lend a hand, and help fix a car, or help with some carpentry work. He enjoyed camping his whole life. He and Mary took their little boys tenting all the way to BC. Later in life, they bought a truck camper and camped at various places with friends and relatives. He loved his grandchildren, and enjoyed cooking for them – always making their favorites, whatever the time of day or night. Especially pancakes – flipping them up to the roof, much to the delight of the kids – but never dropping them. Ray spent many hours tending to his garden, and trying to keep the birds from eating the apples on his tree. He loved apple pie – especially the ones made from his tree. His garden was always well looked after, and he was proud to share the bounty with his family. Music was an important part of Ray’s life. He taught himself to play the guitar, and could play his 12 string in ways that would amaze people. He loved to play music with his brothers – Harv on violin, Emil on accordion, and cousin, John Krause, on accordion. They entertained for many family gatherings, and shared many good times. Fishing was another passion of Ray's. He could spend all day in the boat with a fishing pole in his hand trying to catch the “Big One.” The only thing better than fishing was to cook up the days catch. After retirement, he spent many mornings at the Mall at coffee row, enjoying his morning coffee and visiting with friends. He enjoyed riding his bike all over town, and sometimes he would ride out to the Weigh Scales near Beverly, just for something to do. He liked to run and walk, sometimes walking around the block 50 times, or in bad weather, walking on the treadmill. Ray was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 1999. After declining health, he was admitted to the Palliser Regional Care Centre in 2000, where he resided until his passing. He made many friends there, and was truly cared for by the caregivers at the Palliser. He loved going to “Breakfast with Betty” – a weekly breakfast club that 6 alternating residents are invited to attend, in the Therapy Department. They are served homemade breakfast – bacon, eggs, toast, hash browns, juice and coffee. Ray amazed the staff by how much he could eat. It made his day! Ray is survived by his son, Darryl (Judy), their children: Dustin, Karla, and Brandie; his son, Richard, his children, Tanza and Shane; his brother, Harvey (Lily), their daughter, Joscelyn (Ed) Froese, and their son, Brayden; his sister, Judy (Brian) Batdorf, their children, Vaughn and Landon; his sister-in-law, Tina Polsfut; his uncle, Martin Polsfut; his aunts, Anne Grenke and Bertha Lund; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, in 1993; his father, Johan (John) Polsfut, in 1991; his mother, JulieAnne (Julie) Polsfut, in 1993; and his brother, Emil Polsfut, in 2002. The Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Parkside Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Sid Chalmers officiating. A Reading was presented by his sister-in-law, Lily Polsfut and a Special Music Piece was given by his grandson, Dustin Polsfut. The honorary pallbearers were all those who shared in his life. Memorial donations may be made to the Palliser Regional Care Centre or to the Saskatchewan Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. Ray will be sadly missed by family and friends. Although we were not ready to see him go, and it was hard to say goodbye, we know his suffering is over. Rest easy Dad. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Marjorie Crozier
Passed Away:June, 2005
CROZIER Mrs. Marjorie Luella, aged 81 years of Success, passed away on June 1, 2005 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. Marjorie was born February 28, 1924 to Wilfrid and Ella Jones. She grew up in the big house on the hill in the Hagaville district near Success. She attended school at Hagaville, Orillia, and Success. Marjorie then attended Normal School in Moose Jaw and went out to teach at Log Valley and Fairhills schools. Marjorie married Orville Crozier on June 23, 1945. She helped Orville with the farm although she was not an outside girl and would rather be in the house sewing, knitting, quilting, and baking. Marjorie knit her family Mary Maxim sweaters, sewed every family child a Christmas stocking, cross stitched pictures and sewed her daughter a wedding dress. All our family babies and many community babies snuggles under one of her quilts. Her stitches were tiny and perfect. She was a member of Success Birthday club and the Success Slimmettes. In 1980 for Celebrate Saskatchewan she addressed and received hundreds of invitations and replies. Marjorie was an avid reader and for years wrote a report on every book she read. She kept a diary starting in her teenage years and ended many arguments, how much rain, who came to visit and how old the neighbors were. Marjorie was an armchair Bronco fan keeping track of all the stats and scores. If anyone needed and ad on the Trading Post she would dial patiently until she got through. One of the callers said to her, "You can't ask that for a cow!" but she did and got the price. Marjorie's family was very special to her. As grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along she got busy sewing bibs and quilts. Even the newest baby got a fleece blanket last December. Her brothers and their families always had a special place in her heart. Each brother has a picture or a quilt that Marjorie made. Many phone calls, cards, pictures and letters traveled between here and British Columbia. Marjorie and a pen pal corresponded for over forty years. Marjorie was a little person with a bog heart. As her health failed she stayed close to home and put aside her crafting. With the help of family and homecare she was able to stay in her own home until April. Her last days were spent with family and friends around her and she left this life with peace and dignity. Marjorie is survived by her husband, Orville; daughter, Donna (Wilbert); son, Tom (Shelly); grandchildren: Debbi (Sean), Travis (and (Dawnwyn), and Cassandra and Darby; great-grandchildren: Danielle and Matthew, and Anthony and Ashley; brothers: Rosser (Margaret), Harvey (Esther), Ray and (Pat); sister-in-law, Peg Crozier; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred, and Ella Jones; parents-in-law, Tom and Lavina Crozier; daughter, Sheryl, in infancy; brother, Leonard; brother-in-law, Emerson; sister-in-law, Ethel (Allison); niece, Thelma; and nephew, Darren. The funeral service was held at Grace United Church in Swift Current on June 6, 2005 with Doris Watt officiating. The pallbearers were: Marvin Auseth, Oran Anderson, Brian Cummings, Rod Nelson, Randy Robertson, and Darrell Wotherspoon. The ushers were, Larry Osborne, and Gerald Schultz.
