Leona Marie Savoie
1926-2009
St. Louis de Kent, NB - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Leona at La Villa Maria, St. Louis de Kent on Sunday, January 18th, 2009, surrounded by her children. Born in Caraquet, she was the daughter of the late Philicien and Anna (Lanteigne) Lanteigne. Before retiring, Leona had worked as a seamstress and baker. She was a member of the St. Louis des Francais Roman Catholic Church, St. Louis de Kent.
Leona will be sadly missed by her children; Anne Marie LeBlanc (Edmond), Diane LeBlanc (late Leslie 2005), Dora Davidian (William), Michael Savoie, Claudette LaFountain (Elton), Yvon Savoie (Linda), 12 grandchildren, 17 great grand children, 3 sisters; Lucienne Michaud and Annette Foster of Toronto, Geralda Philpott of Alberta, several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Ernest Savoie, 2 sisters; Bertha Landry, Francine Warner, and 3 brothers; Michel, Livian and Alonzo Lanteigne
Leona enjoyed travel, sewing, knitting, reading, and especially going dancing with her friends. She returned to school at the age of 70 years old for a few months.
Resting at Thompson Memorial Home, St. Louis de Kent with visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9, Wednesday at 9:00 am until departure for funeral. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 21st. 2009 at 11:00 am at the St. Louis des Francais Roman Catholic Church, St. Louis de Kent. Internment will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations to the New Brunswick Alzheimer’s Society or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252)

Rufino Guimond
St. Louis de Kent, NB - Rufino Guimond 73, of St. Louis de Kent passed away at La Villa Maria, St. Louis de Kent on Thursday, January 15th, 2009. Born in Richibucto he was the son of the late Denis Guimond & Marianne Robichaud.
Rufino will be sadly missed by his 6 sisters; Eveline (Eloi), Alma, Eliza, Béatrice (Elie), Claudine (Edgar), Rosa (Harry), 8 brothers; Alphonse (Rita), Josephat, André (Odila), Yvon (Gail), Philippe (Cindy), Henri, Ulysse, and Tim.
Resting at Thompson Memorial Home, St. Louis de Kent with visitation on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9, Monday at 9:00 AM until departure for funeral. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 19th, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the St. Louis des Francais Roman Catholic Church, St. Louis de Kent. Eric Joseph Johnson Sr.
1925-2009
Galloway, NB - It is with great sorrow that the family of Eric Johnson Sr. announces his passing on January 13th, 2009 at the Stella Maris Hospital, Ste. Anne de Kent at the age of 84.
Born at Pont-du-Milieu, he was the son of the late Beloni and Sadie (Babineau) Johnson. He worked as a bricklayer in Norwich Connecticut for many years after serving in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces. As a veteran, he belonged to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 30 in Richibucto.
He is survived by his loving wife Elva (Gray) of St-Charles, his three sons; Ben (Kathy) of Bedford, NS, Danie of Richibucto, and Eric Jr. (Louise) of Saint John, two daughters; Sharon (Steve) Layden of Virginia Beach, VA and Erica (Mike McKinnon) of Whitby, ON, seven grandchildren; Crystal, Nicholas and Abby Johnson, Gray and Ross Layden, Lann Johnson and Calder Johnson. He leaves behind his brothers and sisters; Elmo (Noella) of Bouctouche, Ronald (Marjorie) of Mississauga, ON, Omer of Medford, ON, Diana (late Joe) Thibodeau of Richibucto and Jeannette (Clarence) Daigle of Aldouane. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He is predeceased by his brothers Edgar (infant), Albert, Romeo (May LeBlanc), Adelard (Laurida Gallant), Roger (Victorine Martin) and Adrien (Mary Allain)
Eric Johnson was an avid outdoorsman and member of the Richibucto Village Gun Club. He always enjoyed a game of cribbage with his friends and family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by all.
The family will receive visitors at Thompson’s Funeral Home in Richibucto on Friday, January 16th from 2-4 and 7-9.
Richibucto Branch #30 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Tribute on January 17th during to the Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Rexton at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow at the parish church hall.
Donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Special thanks are extended to the doctor’s and staff at the Stella Maris Hospital and the Extra Mural.

Florence Martin
1930-2009
St. Louis de Kent, NB - Florence Martin 78, of St. Louis de Kent passed away at home on Tuesday, January 13th, 2009. Born in St. Louis de Kent she was the daughter of the late Émile & Marguerite (Despres) Martin.
Florence will be sadly missed by her 3 sisters; Dolores Martin of St. Louis, Anita Cormier (Vincent) of Rexton, Melese Martin of Rexton, 1 brother; Alderice Martin of St. Louis, sister in law; Suzanne Martin of St. Louis, and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by 3 sisters; Marie Martin, Anita Martin, Emerise Robichaud, and 1 brother; Omer.
Resting at Thompson Memorial Home, St. Louis de Kent with visitation on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9, Friday at noon until departure for funeral. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 16th, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the St. Louis des Francais Roman Catholic Church, St. Louis de Kent. Internment will be in the spring. If so desired donations to the Oncology Unit at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Teressa (Tressie) Peters
1930-2008
Elsipogtog, NB - Teressa (Tressie) Peters 78 of Elsipogtog, NB passed away peacefully at the Stella Maris Hospital, Ste. Anne de Kent on Tuesday, December 9th, 2008. Born in Bouctouche, NB she was the daughter of the late Thomas Peter Paul and Judith Noel. Tressie attended Ste. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Elsipogtog and was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch No. 30, Richibucto.
Survived by her husband Frank John, 8 daughters; Noella (Jimmy Augustine), Emma Levi-Milliea, Judy (Kenny Bernard), Patsy (Cyrles Bernard), Mary (Darcy Sark), Theresa (Robert Levi), Anne (Lee Allen Levi), Carie Ann (Brian Francis), 3 sons; Jimmy (Beatrice Augustine), Basil, Chad Allen, 51 grand children, 109 great grand children, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Predeceased by her, 1st husband Leo Augustine Sr., 2 sons; Leo Augustine Jr., Daryl Augustine, and 1 daughter Sharon Lois Augustine.
Resting at her home, 42 Main Street, Elsipogtog on Thursday, December 12th, 2008. A funeral Mass will be on Saturday, December 13th, 2008 at 10:30 am, Ste. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Elsipogtog. Internment in the parish cemetery. Arrangements in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).

Vera Annie Beers
1919-2009
Beersville, NB - Vera Beers 90, of Beersville, NB passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2009 at the Lion’s Nursing Home, Rexton. Born on October 12th, 1919 in Beersville she was the daughter of the late William and Annabell (Dunn) Glencross.
Vera operated a small country store until retirement. She enjoyed knitting for family and friends and her home was always open and welcomed everyone for a cup of tea. She was an active member of St. James Presbyterian Church, choir member and church manager. A member of St. James Ladies Aid and Life Member of the Beersville Women’s Institute.
She will be sadly missed by her sister Minnie (Carman) Fillmore and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Douglas Beers, 2 brothers; Thomas and Charles and her 2 sisters Mary Brown and Laura Robinson.
In lieu of flowers donations in Vera’s memory to St. James Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family.
Resting at St. James Presbyterian Church, Beersville, with visitation on Thursday, January 8th, 2009 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Funeral service will be on Friday, January 9th, 2009 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Sandy Sutherland officiating. Arrangements in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252)

1925-2009
Moncton, NB – Joan Cail 84, of Moncton passed away peacefully at the Lion’s Nursing Home, Rexton on Saturday, January 10th, 2009. Born in Main River she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Beers) Ells. She had been employed at Eaton’s and Taylor Ford.
Joan will be sadly missed by her daughter Shirley Biggs (Ken), 2 sons; Fred (Judy) and Bruce (Phyllis), 6 grand children; Darlene (Bruce), Dale (Maren), Garth (Carol), Darren (Pam), Denise, Rhonda (Trevor), 11 great grand children; Patty Jo, Bobby Jo, Sammy Jo, Michael, Jordan, Jacob, Kandice, Erika, Jackie, Shelly, Samantha, and 2 great great grand children; Ali, Aidan, and 2 brothers; Edward Ells (Muriel) and Ralph (Margaret). Predeceased by her husband Sanford, 3 sisters; Alvina, Georgie and Marie, 1 brother Issac, 2 infant brothers; Elmer and Ronald.
Resting at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9. A Funeral service will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 13th, 2009 at 11:00 AM.
