Edgar Joseph Allen Hebert
1922-2009
REXTON, NB – It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edgar Hebert. Loving husband, father, grand-father, great grand-father and friend to many. Edgar was born and raised in Rexton, NB to the late Fred and Cecile (Vautour) Hebert.
Edgar leaves to morn his wife of 62 years Marie (Arsenault) Hebert, two daughters; Eileen Leger (Bob Bourgeois) of Riverview, Cathy McDermid (Lyle) of Spruce Grove, Alberta, five sons; Gordon (Carolyn), Wayne (Simone), both of Jardineville, Harvey (Jill), Timmy (Donna), both of Rexton, and Myles (Cathy) of Halifax. Edgar will also be sadly missed by his 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, daughter-in-law June (Edmonton, Alberta), brother Jim of Rexton and many friends. Besides his parents, Edgar was predeceased by an infant daughter Mae, his sister Marie-Mae, and his brother Edmond.
Edgar was a good worker and even at a young age worked to help support his parents as well as two younger brothers. Holding many jobs, Edgar made his way to Toronto and worked building the Toronto subway. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 and joined the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders of Canada Regiment of Niagara Falls. Edgar witnessed many hardships in the next few years having served over seas, ending with a tour of Holland. After returning in 1946, Edgar met Marie and a new chapter of his life began. Edgar and Marie made their home in Rexton and are proud parents of five sons and two daughters. Edgar worked for the Department of Transportation as a worker and supervisor of the Bridge Crew in Rexton for almost thirty years. After retirement, Edgar and Marie bought a winter home in Boyton Beach, Florida, where they wintered for over 15 years. They also traveled extensively, not only all over Canada and the United States, but also the Panama Canal, Bahamas, Alaska and Holland. Edgar enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports. Early on, he coached hockey and could always be seen either at the outdoor rink in Rexton, or the arena in Richibucto. There was never a night that Edgar wasn’t watching sports on TV, and also listening to another game on the radio. He enjoyed curling and was a past member of the Rexton Curling Club. He was also an avid golfer and during summer could be seen at the Bouctouche Golf Club where he was a member. No matter where he traveled, he would find time for golf. Edgar will always be remembered for the love he shared with his family and friends, as well as being the greatest story teller in the world, as he could entertain for hours with one story after another.
Resting at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation on Tuesday, February 17th, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM, and Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of funeral. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Rexton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Alice Gray
1961-2009
ST. CHARLES, NB – Alice Gray, 47, of St. Charles, NB passed away at The Moncton City Hospital, Moncton on Sunday, February 15th, 2009 . Born in Moncton she was the daughter of the late Israel and Diana (Comeau) Daigle. Alice was employed as an Insurance Broker and attended St. Charles Borromée Roman Catholic Church.
Alice will be sadly missed by her husband; Dale of Alberta, step mother; Leocadie Savoie (Edouard) of St. Louis, son; Christopher of St. Charles, 2 sisters; Rose Mazerolle (Jean-Marc) of St. Charles, Diane Daigle (Gabriel) of Rexton, half sister; Emerise Chevarie (Emile) of St. Ignace, 2 brothers; Donald Daigle (Darlene) of Quispamsis, Claude Daigle (Paulette) of Cocagne, step brother; Jacques Cormier of Calgary, special friend; Justin Hébert, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Resting at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9, Thursday at Noon until departure for funeral. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 19th, 2009 at 2:00 pm at St. Charles Borromée Roman Catholic, St. Charles. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Elvina Daigle
1919-2009
RICHIBUCTO, NB – Elvina Daigle, 89, of Richibucto, passed away peacefully at the Stella Maris Hospital, Ste. Anne de Kent, on Monday, February 16th, 2009. Born in Little Aldouane she was the daughter of the late Levis Olivier and Suzanne (Martin) Robichaud.
Elvina was a homemaker whose home and arms were always open to everyone who knew her. A long time member of the C.W.L. and Church Choir sharing her beautiful singing voice for 65 years. She was a member of the St. Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church, Richibucto and the Richibucto Golden Age Club.
Elvina will be sadly missed by her two sons; Richard Linus Daigle (Louise) of New Maryland, Marc Daigle (Hélene) of Orleans, Ontario, 6 grand children; Jennifer (Trevor McLean) of Moncton, Nicole (Scott MacAfee) of Fredericton, Michael Daigle (Erinn) of Fredericton, Jean Philippe Daigle of Ottawa, Daniel Daigle of Ottawa, Mirielle of Ottawa, two great grand children; Sophie MacAfee of Fredericton, Reese McLean of Dieppe and special sister-in-law Bertha Robichaud.
Predeceased by her husband; Leon Daigle, three brothers; Elide Robichaud (Bertha), Alyre Robichaud (Shirley), and baby Tilmon (6 months).
Resting at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9, Thursday at 3:00 pm until departure for funeral. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 19th at 4:00 pm at the St. Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church, Richibucto. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. If so desired donations may be made in Elvina’s memory to the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital Foundation or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Aline LeBlanc
1943-2008
ALDOUANE - Aline LeBlanc, 64, wife of Alpha LeBlanc, of Aldouane, NB, passed away Wednesday, February 6th, 2008 at the Stella Maris Hospital, St. Anne de Kent after a lenghtly illness. Born in Lakeburn, she was the daughter of the late Ovila LeBlanc and Lily (Bourgeois) LeBlanc.
Aline worked as substitute teacher, a bookkeeper for local companies and fishermen. She also worked at Bonar Law High School teaching french to native students. She was president of the figure skating club in the 1970's, past president of the C.A.D.A.C. and she worked with children with special needs.
She is survived by her husband, Alpha; her mother, Lily; two daughters, Brenda Maillet (Paul) of St. Norbert and Karen LeBlanc (Mandy Shaw) of Hay River; grandson, Kevin Ovila Maillet; four sisters, Marguerite Brun (Leonard) of Grande-Digue, Lorette Turner (Jim) of North Carolina, Anita Gift (Rod) of Maryland and Denise Kelly (Shane) of Albert Co; brother, Jimmy LeBlanc (Bernice) of Lakeburn; several nieces and nephews.
Resting at Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto, with visiting hours on Sunday, February 10th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral mass will be held at St. Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church, Richibucto, Monday, February 11th, at 11 am. Interment in Aldouane Roman Catholic Cemetery in the Spring. Aline's family would like to say special thanks to Dr. Eric Martin, and the staff at the Stella Maris Hospital for the care they provided. Funeral arrangements are in care of Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).

Anna Vautour
1924-2009
ST. LOUIS DE KENT, NB - Anna Vautour, 84, of St. Louis de Kent passed away peacefully at La Villa Maria on Saturday, February 21st, 2009. Born at Cote a Fabien, she was the daughter of the late Maxime and Melanise (Hebert) Johnson. Anna was devoted to providing quilts for the needy around the world and volunteered her time knitting for neonatal units.
Anna will be sadly missed by her 5 daughters; Claudette Daigle (Yvon) of St. Louis, Irène Montour (Normand) of Cap Pele, Yvette Cormier (Raphaël) of St. Louis, Melenda Hébert (Ronald) of St. Louis, Angela Vautour (Gilles) of PEI, and her 3 sons; Bernard Vautour (Donna) of Kouchibouguac, Alcide Vautour (Linda) of Miramichi, Fernand Vautour (Noëlla) of St. Louis, 25 grand children, 17 great grand children, 1 sister Melinda Johnson Drapeau (late Fernando) of Dalhousie, sister-in-law Mary of Minto, and several nieces & nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Ange (December 2003), and 1 brother Ovila.
Resting at Thompson Memorial Home, St. Louis de Kent with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9, Thursday at 9:00 am until departure for funeral. A funeral Mass will be held at the St. Louis de Francais Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, February 26th, 2009 at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Claire-Fontaine in the spring. If so desired donations to the Salvation Army or donor’s choice in Anna’s memory would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to also express their gratitude to all the team members at La Villa Maria and Dr. Boucher for their compassion, care and kindness to our mother.

Antoine Babineau
1925-2009
ST. IGNACE, NB - Antoine Babineau, 83, of St. Ignace passed away peacefully at La Villa Maria, St. Louis de Kent on Friday, February 20th, 2009. Born in St. Ignace he was the son of the late Placide and Pelagie (Vautour) Babineau.
Antoine entered the Canadian Army in December 1943 and was posted in Germany with the North Nova Scotia Highlander Regiment in 1945. Where he was a stretcher bearer until the end of the war. Discharged in 194 and then entered the NB Scottish Regiment Militia but left that year to find employment in Toronto, Ontario. He then joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corp. in 1953 to 1956 where he took his medical assistant and first aid instructor courses. In 1956 he entered the Canadian Army Regular with the Queen’s Own Riffles of Canada where he instructed first aid to the recruits until his release in 1956. He returned to the Canadian Medical Corp. Militia in 1956 where he was still serving as a Master Warrant Office. In 1961 he qualified as first aid instructor and instructed 300 members of the employment program militia on standard first aid. He taught members of the militia from 1961 to 1971 and was presented with the Medallion of the Saint John Ambulance in 1964.
Survived by one brother Armand, sister-in-law Suzanne Babineau and brother-in-law Omer Boucher, several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two sisters; Lorraine and Louise (infant) and two brothers; Irenée and Sylvain.
Resting at Thompson Memorial Home, St. Louis de Kent with visitation on Tuesday from 7-9, Wednesday at 9:00 am until departure for funeral. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 25th, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Ignace de Loyola Roman Catholic Church, St. Ignace. Mabel Shortall
1936-2009
South Branch, NB - Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Mabel Lydia (Kitchen) Shortall passed away on February 22, 2009 at the age of 72. Born May 10, 1936 in Long’s Creek NB, she was the daughter of the late Bertram and Violet (Kelly) Kitchen.
Mabel lived 50 years of country life in South Branch, Kent County. She lived the last two years in Gondola Point. She enjoyed family, friends, laughter, crafts, cooking and hosting from her kitchen. Sadly missed and fondly remembered for her kind heart, smiling eyes and gentle spirit by all of her family, extended family and friends.
Mabel is survived by her loving children; Leonard (Louise) of Quispamsis, Beth (Bryant) of Sussex, Joan (Andy) of Quispamsis, John (Gina) of South Branch, Stephen of Lethbridge, Robert (Marthe) of Richibucto Village, Kelly (Gary) of Saint John, Jaime (Brian) of Saint John Paul (Mary) of Sussex, her grandchildren; Lisa (Darin), Laura (Ross), Lynn (Luke), Adam, Stacey, Gregory, Daniel (Mother, Nora Wilson), Steven, Scott, Amanda, Kristy, great grandchildren; Josh, Jander and Sean, and her brother; Wayne (Jean) Kitchen of Long’s Creek.
Mabel is predeceased by her husband James Shortall, her parents and her brother Tyler Kitchen.
Visitation will take place at the Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto on Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, Thursday 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, and Friday from 9 AM until departure for funeral. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Hope Parish (formerly Saint Peter’s Church) in South Branch, Kent County. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
