Erma Mitchell
1919-2009
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on January 4, 2009, Mrs. Erma (Leslie) Mitchell, wife of the late Mr. Samuel Mitchell of Back Bay NB. Born at Back Bay on April 18, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Cora Mae (Cook) Leslie and step father, the late George A. Matheson. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by one daughter, Viola Mitchell of Back Bay, two sons; Richard (Agatha) and Meldon (Laura) Mitchell, both of Back Bay, one daughter in law, Jeanette Mitchell of Back Bay, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, two sisters; Nellie Matheson and Hilda (Ronald) Hanley both of Back Bay, one brother, Ernest Matheson of Back Bay and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Samuel, one son, Weldon Mitchell, one sister, Marguerite Hanley, three brothers; Arthur Leslie, Frederick Matheson and Alvy Leslie and four step brothers; Henry, Gerald, Peter and Kenneth Matheson.
Erma worked for a short time at Connor’s Bros. at Back Bay and was a member of the Seaview Full Gospel Church. She enjoyed knitting, children and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.
Resting at the Seaview Full Gospel Church, Back Bay NB from where the service will be held on Wednesday at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating. Interment will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery in the Spring. Visiting at the church will take place on Monday from 7-9 pm and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Erma’s memory, donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Milton Isaac MacVicar
1916-2009
Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on January 10, 2009, Mr. Milton Isaac MacVicar, husband of Mrs. Alice (Adams) (Darke) MacVicar of Bonny River NB. Born at Canal NB on August 24, 1916, he was a son of the late Archibald and Annie (Campbell) MacVicar. A loving husband, father and grandfather, in addition to his wife Alice, he is survived by one daughter, Beth Delong (Herb Bartlett) of Old Ridge NB, two granddaughters; Carla Delong of St. Stephen and Natalie (Kelly) Steen of Canal, four great grandchildren; Jeremy, Joshua, Jennifer and Merven, two great great grandchildren; Hannah and Peyton, two step children; Allison and Beth Darke both of Deer Island NB, three sisters in law; Geraldine Kinney, Lila Chambers and Hazel Walsh and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Milton was predeceased by his first wife, Blanche Mae (Kinney) MacVicar, one son in infancy, one son in law, Carl Delong, one step son, Greg, one step daughter, Donna and two sisters; Marion MacVicar and Myrtle Henderson.
Milton was owner/operator of his own mill for many years. He was a veteran of the Second World War having served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in both Holland and Germany. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #40 in St. George. Milton was also a member of the Second Falls United Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for more then 40 years. He loved woodworking and taking drives with Alice, as well as eating out at restaurants.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting on Sunday from 7-9 pm and on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the Second Falls United Baptist Church on Tuesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Reg Ward officiating. Interment will be held at the church cemetery in the spring. In Milton’s memory, donations to the Second Falls United Baptist Church, St. George Area Food Bank or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Evelyn Lois (Matthews) Hooper
1929-2009
Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on January 11, 2009, Mrs. Evelyn Lois (Matthews) Hooper, wife of the late Arthur Hooper, formerly of L’Etete NB. Born at L’Etang NB on November 8, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Vera (Leavitt) Matthews. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by one son, Lanny Hooper (Panda Bryant) of Back Bay NB, one granddaughter, Tracy Hooper and one great granddaughter, Shauna Hooper both of Saint John NB, one sister, Valores (Daniel) Simpson of L’Etete and one niece, Debbie Simpson-Walker of Halifax NS. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband and one son Farrell.
In keeping with Evelyn’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery in the spring. In Evelyn’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Rosaline "Rose" Mary Deveau
1931-2009
Unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on January 13, 2009, Mrs. Rosaline “Rose” Mary Deveau, wife of Mr. Hazen Deveau of Caithness NB. Born at Ohio NS on August 3, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Phillip and Mattie (LeBlanc) Deveau. A loving wife and sister, in addition to her husband Hazen, she is survived by two sisters; Mabel Deveau of Belliveau Cove NS and Celeste Bell of Ontario, one brother, Harley Deveau of Weymouth NS and well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many great friends.
Prior to her retirement, Rose was employed by Connor’s Bros. at Back Bay NB and was known as a very hard worker with a kind heart. She was an active member of the Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #40 at St. George. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting on Thursday from 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at the St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, St. George NB, at 12:00 Noon with Father John Ighacho officiating. In Rose’s memory donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Gordon George Armstrong
1931-2009
At his residence, on January 14, 2009, Mr. Gordon George Armstrong, husband of Mrs. Shirley (Tian) Armstrong of Blacks Harbour NB. Born at Blacks Harbour on November 27, 1931, he was a son of Leota (Noddin) Armstrong and the late Robert Armstrong. A loving husband, father, son, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Carol Augustin of Brampton ON and Ruth Armstrong of Mississauga ON, his mother, Leota Armstrong of Blacks Harbour, two grandchildren; Aaron and Stephanie, one brother, Brendan (Leona) Armstrong of Blacks Harbour, two sisters; Leora (George) Murchison of Grand Bay NB and Mary Ellen Armstrong of Belleisle NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Robert.
Gordon moved back to Blacks Harbour after an 18 year career as a Police Officer in Toronto ON. He joined the force on November 13, 1961 and served with the Emergency Task Force and later transferred to Intelligence and retired on March 31, 1978. He loved hunting, fishing and shot a deer in 2007 that he was very proud of.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB from where the service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Tuesday at 2 pm with Rev. Keith Osborne officiating. Visiting at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Gordon’s memory, donations to the NB Lung Association, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Enid Mae Vail
1931-2009
Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on January 17, 2009, Mrs. Enid Mae (Wentworth) Vail, wife of the late Mr. Warren E. Vail of St. George NB. Born at L’Etete NB on February 17, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Julia (Dewar) Wentworth. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Enid is survived by one son, Everett “Teddy” (Judy) Vail of St. George, three daughters; Julia Susan (William) Frye of St. Stephen, Diane Louise (Joseph) Majtenyi of St. Catherines ON and Laura Anne Morehouse (Neil Morrow) of Oak Bay NB, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two brothers; James (Barbara) Wentworth of Irwinton GA and John (Paulette) Wentworth of L’Etete and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Warren, she was predeceased by one grandson, Julian and two great grandsons; Kaylum and Mitchell
Prior to her retirement Enid worked as a Registered Nurse for 30 years and retired from the Fundy Hospital at Blacks Harbour. In her quiet time she enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, reading and doing various puzzles. She was also a great lover of animals and held an interest in local history and genealogy. She was a long time member of the Pennfield United Baptist Church. Enid will be sadly missed by her family, colleagues and many friends.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 pm and on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm from the Pennfield United Baptist Church with Rev. Grant Alcorn officiating. The interment will be held at the Brockway Union Cemetery in the spring. In Enid’s memory donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

E. Louise Gillmor
1927-2009
Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on January 28, 2009, Mrs. E. Louise (Justason) Gillmor, wife of Mr. Arthur “Darb” Gillmor of St. George NB, formerly of Bonny River NB. Born at Pennfield NB on November 16, 1927, she was one of 13 siblings of Charles and Ethel (Wilcox) Justason. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Darb, she is survived by one son, Eddie Gillmor (Janice Schneider) of Calgary AB, one daughter, Cathy (Royden) Stewart of L’Etang NB, granddaughters; Melissa (Scott) McLeod of Quispamsis NB and Megan Stewart (Scott Reynolds) of Fredericton NB, grandsons; Ian Gillmor of Victoria BC and Aaron Gillmor of Calgary, one sister, Clara McLean of New River NB, one brother, Murray (Eileen) Justason of Sussex NB, sisters in law; Mildred, Joyce and Eileen and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by five brothers; Alvin, Maurice, Lewis, Ernest and Clarence and by five sisters; Irene, Viola, Hazel, Amy and Doris.
Louise completed high school at Blacks Harbour NB and went to work at Rothesay Collegiate School before marrying Arthur Gillmor of Bonny River in 1950. They lovingly raised their family throughout the Fundy Region including, Magaguadavic Lake, New River, Pocologan and Bonny River. Louise graduated from St. Andrews Trade School in 1972 and later worked for the Dept. of Natural Resources, before retiring in 1984. She loved bowling, traveling and was an avid Bingo player.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB from where the service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 7th, 2009, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Reg Ward officiating. Interment will take place at the Second Falls United Baptist Church Cemetery in the spring. Visiting at the funeral home on Friday, February 6th, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Louise’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Hospital Palliative Care Unit, or the Hospice of Charlotte would be greatly appreciated by the family.
