Mr. Grant Stewart Friedrichsen
Mr. Grant Stewart Friedrichsen, beloved husband of Mrs. Liz Friedrichsen of Taber, passed away near Brooks on Monday, December 20, 1999 at the age of 38 years. Grant was born on February 8, 1961, the son of Peter and Faye Friedrichsen. He grew up in Weyburn, where he graduated from the Weyburn Comprehensive High School. Grant later moved to BC where he met Elizabeth Enquist. They were married in 1986 in Hedley, BC. They lived in various communities, including Abbotsford, BC, where he attended Columbia Bible College. They then moved to Lethbridge so he could enroll in the Environmental Science Program at L.C.C. For the past five years, while living in Taber, Grant worked out of his home as a consultant for Newpark Environmental Services of Calgary. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, hunting and fishing. His family was of the most importance to him as was his friendship to all people he met. Grant lived life every day to the fullest and always had a positive attitude towards it. He and his family were active members of the Evangelical Free Church. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered in the hearts of his wife Liz, daughter Natasha and son Dirk; parents Peter and Faye Friedrichsen of Ponoka; sister Cindy (Larry) Pickett and their children Meghan and Jordan of Okotoks; brother Garry (Nancy) Friedrichsen and sons Peter and Jack of Edmonton; father and mother-in-law Vincent and Joan Enquist of Enderby, BC; brothers-in-law Cliff (Fara) Enquist and children of Grand Forks, BC and Evan (Tammy) Enquist and children of Abbotsford and also by numerous other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber, on Wednesday, December 22 at 8:30 p.m. The funeral service was held at the First Christian Reformed Church, Taber, on Thursday, December 23 at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Ron Gartly officiating. Cremation followed the funeral service. Arrangements were in care of Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber, AB.

COCHRANE - William (Bill) Cochrane passed away peacefully in Calgary on Monday, May 8, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 69 years. He came from Flat Rock, Newfoundland in 1947, and enjoyed a thirty-four year Career with Air Canada in Montreal and Calgary. Bill is the beloved husband of Therese; and loving father to three daughters, Gail (Holland) Ross, Joan (Dennis) Walker and Cathy (Allen) Kasner; a son William Cochrane; as well as his grandchildren, Paul and Alenna Kasner, and Joey and Anne Walker. He is also survived by two sisters, Anastasia Latta and Margaret Batten; and three brothers, Joseph Cochrane, James Cochrane and David Cochrane. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY "Eastside Memorial Chapel" (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.), today, May 11, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Valentino Alberton of Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church officiating. COMSTOCK - Albert Bernard Comstock passed away at the High River Hospital on May 8, 2000, at the age of 88 years. He was born on the family ranch at Pine Coulee, south of Nanton, on September 29, 1911. He was predeceased by his wife Eleanor on April 28, 1950, his parents, Francis on May 1, 1956, and Mary Comstock on September 4, 1956, his brothers, Gordon in 1988, John in 1991, Wilbert in 1994, Norman in 1995 and Ross in 1998. He is survived by his sister Mary Beeza of Nanton and numerous nieces and nephews. By request, there will be no Service held. Cremation arrangements in care of Parklawn Crematorium.

COWAN - Jean Margaret (Bo) Cowan of Calgary, passed away at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Care Centre on Wednesday, May 10, 2000, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 63 years. Jean was a resident of Ontario until moving to Calgary in 1978. Jean will be remembered as a great sports enthusiast. For the past thirteen years, Jean had called the Fanning Centre home. Jean is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave and Betty, Jim and B.J., Bill and Bernice, all of Ontario; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be lovingly remembered by many dear friends in both Calgary and Ontario. She was predeceased by her parents, David Gibb Cowan Sr. and Jean Margaret Cowan. Services will be held in the Coliseum at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Care Centre (722 - 16 Avenue N.E.), on Friday, May 12, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Arnie Chamberlain officiating. FALLIS - Gordon Abraham Fallis, passed away on November 27, 1999, at home in Sidney, B.C. Gordon was born on November 14, 1931, in Walpole Township, Haldimand County, Ontario. He joined the R.C.M.P. with his twin brother Harold in 1952, and served most of his time in Air Division. He joined Air Canada in 1966 and Amoco Petroleum in 1968, where he became Chief Pilot. After twenty-one years with Amoco he retired and started his own company Fallis Aviation Consulting. He was widely respected for his professionalism and his concern for aviation safety. Gordon had many interests, his favorites being golf, hunting, walking, camping and reading. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and with his many friends. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Elaine (Tranter) Fallis; his children, Colin (Mila) Fallis, Donna (John) Schmidt, Craig (Laurie) Fallis; and by his grandchildren, Leah and Nicole Schmidt, and Bruce Fallis. He is also survived by sister-in-law Barbara Fallis; brother Robert (Sue) Fallis; brother Harold (Delcie) Fallis; brother-in-law Ron (Pat) Tranter; and many other family members. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Edna Fallis and his older brother Thomas Fallis. A Memorial reception was held in Sidney, B.C., on December 1, 1999. FATH - Stella Marie Fath of Innisfail, Alberta, beloved wife of the late Benno Clarence Fath, passed away at the Rosefield Centre, Innisfail on Tuesday, May 9, 2000 at the age of 79 years. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Margaret Fath of Calgary; son Arden (Sheryl) Fath of Stavely; daughter Betty (Brian) Glasgow of Innisfail; and son Gordon (Holly) Fath of Mayerthorpe. She also leaves to mourn, nine grandchildren, Trent, Melody, Christine, Carter, David, Mike, Cory, Colton and Caeton; three sisters, Cecilia (Len) Rosmus of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Margaret Hammel of Calgary, Deanna Peattie of Oshawa, Ontario; and brother Dennis (Dorothy) Hanrahan of Valleyview; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Stella was predeceased by her husband Benno, son Terry, grandson James and her parents, Hugh and Emma Hanrahan. Born at Claresholm, September 6, 1920, Stella received her education at the Prairie Dell school. After marrying, she spent many years in the Stavely, Finnigan and Priddis areas where Benno was employed on farms and ranches. They moved to Innisfail in 1964 and made this their home when they retired. Stella's greatest love was her husband, visiting and cooking for her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Innisfail on Friday, May 12, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Joseph Ayling officiating and Interment will be at the St. Vincent's Catholic Cemetery, Stavely at a later date. HARDING - It is with great sorrow that the family of William "Bill" Ernest Harding announce his passing at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on Friday, May 5, 2000, at the age of 70 years. Bill will be dearly missed by his children, Carrie Paterson (Andrew Skinner) and Dwayne Harding; his grandchildren, Shawn, Sarah and Natasha Paterson, and Daniella Harding, all from Calgary; his sister Mavis (Tom) Fahlman of Edmonton; nephews, John and Paul Fahlman; cousins, Bob (Betty) Collier of Airdrie and Stan (Sheila) Collier of Castor; numerous other relatives and friends. Bill was predeceased by a son, A. Ernest Harding on January 18, 1989, and his parents, Albert E. Harding in 1934 and Martha Harding in 1995. Bill was born on August 26, 1929, in Castor, AB. He enjoyed a long and successful career in the Oil and Gas industry, spending the better part working with Dome Petroleum, before retiring with J.B. Bootsman in 1990. Upon retirement, Bill spent countless hours volunteering for local charities and was an active member of Southwood United Church. Bill's other passions were for music, curling and travel and his family will cherish the scrapbooks that he created from those endeavors. Upon life's end, all we can hope is that our life had purpose. Dad, yours meant everything to us and we miss you so. HERD - C. Mae Herd passed away at the Bow Crest Care Centre, where she had resided for the past sixteen years, on May 4, 2000, after a sudden illness. Mae was predeceased by her husband Hugh in January 1978. Mae is survived by many friends. A very special thank you to the caregivers at Bow Crest who were Mae's family and friends. KESLER - Arthur Godfrey Kesler of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on May 8, 2000, at the age of 69 years. Art is survived by his wife Louise; sons, Arthur and Kenneth; mother Jessie; sister Lavore (Orville) Waddle of Claresholm, Alberta; brothers, Gordon (Dorothy) Kesler of Acme, Alberta, and Owen (Eleanor) Kesler of Cardston, Alberta. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Darlene (Dennis) Gooch of Vulcan, Alberta, and Joan (Bruce) Geldart of Oakville, Ontario; aunts, Leah Asplund of Picture Butte, Alberta, Vilda Quaife of Taber, Alberta, and Olis Nyman of Logan, Utah; uncle Joe (Buddy) Godfrey of Taber, Alberta; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his Dad, Devore Kesler in 1991. Art loved aviation and always felt so fortunate to have had his career in this field which spanned the Canadian Airforce, C.P. Air, Pacific Petroleums and various other companies until his retirement with Petro Canada. A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W. LAMB - Elmer Freeman of Balzac, Alberta, passed away on May 9, 2000 at the age of 74, after struggling courageously with cancer. Elmer was born August 28, 1925 near Russell, Manitoba. He leaves behind his beloved wife Betty and adored children, Shelley (Wayne) Bushfield, Rhondda (Bruce) Holder, William (Susan) Lamb, Christie (Dale Blake) Clark, and John (Kim) Lamb; as well as twelve grandchildren, Elanor and Rory Bushfield, Cody, Cale and Del Holder, Jessica and Willy Lamb, Trueman and Tai Clark, Tali Blake, Nicole and Dustin Lamb. Elmer is survived by his two brothers, Brooks and Murray Lamb and sister M.J. Russell. Elmer made an impact in the lives of everyone who knew him. He had a great capacity for love and was a passionate, honest, kind and giving man. His incredible inner strength was evident when he rallied to receive his 50 Year Masonic Jewel on the morning of May 7, 2000. LEWIS - Jean Heather (Moore) Lewis, beloved wife of Gerald Charles Lewis, passed away suddenly on April 27, 2000. Besides her loving husband, Jean is survived by her sons, Gary W. Stevenson (Lyn) of Coquitlam, B.C. and Roy L. Stevenson, (Lynne) of Victoria, B.C. and their families. During the Second World War, Jean was a lieutenant with the A.T.S. Division of the British Women's Army Corps. She will also be lovingly remembered by her neighbors and friends.
