Norma Josephine Kinney
1920-2010
Unexpectedly at her residence, at Second Falls NB on August 24, 2010, Mrs. Norma Josephine Kinney, wife of Mr. James D. Kinney. Born at Second Falls on April 24, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Manford and Josephine (Campbell) Sherwood. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, in addition to her husband James, she is survived by five daughters; Linda Needle of St. George NB, Josephine Johnston of Bethel NB, Kathleen (Gilbert) McGraw and Anita (Allen) Stevens both of Second Falls and Laura (Bud) Hillier of Tracyville NS, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Norma was predeceased by one brother, Lawrence.
Prior to her retirement, Norma worked for the Star Kist Tuna Plant, St. Andrews NB, for several years. She had a love for cooking, especially her baked beans and homemade bread. Norma enjoyed spending her free time with her family and loved to have visits from friends.
As per Norma’s request there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at the St. George Funeral Home on Thursday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Reg Ward officiating, followed by the interment at the Second Falls Baptist Church Cemetery. In Norma’s memory, donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB

Gregory Robert Morehouse
1957-2010
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB, following an accident, on September 3, 2010, Mr. Gregory Robert Morehouse, companion of Diane Johnston of Canal NB. Born at Kingston ON on December 18, 1957, he was a son of Robert and Dawn (Leslie) Morehouse. A loving companion, father, step father, son, grandson and brother, in addition to his companion and parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Grace Leslie of Blacks Harbour NB, one daughter, Melissa Morehouse of Toronto ON, step children; Annette Johnston (Kevin McGuigan) of Canal and Justin Johnston (Jessica Eagan) of St. Stephen NB, step grandchildren; Michael (Kelly) Johnston of Utopia NB and Corey Henry of St. George NB, step great grandchildren; Michael and Maranda Winsor and Kiera and Landon Johnston, one brother, Chris (Colleen) Morehouse Canal, two sisters; Angela Morehouse (Wade McVicar) of Back Bay NB and Kimberly Morehouse (Larry James) of Fort McMurray AB, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gregory was predeceased by one step son, Jerry Johnston and by one step grandson, Adam Henry.
Greg was a truck driver by trade and was a lover of animals. He loved the outdoors and doing outdoor activities, especially gardening. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB from where the service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Wednesday at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating. Visiting at the funeral home will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Greg’s memory, donations to the Ca-r-ma Association, St. Stephen NB, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Ruby B. Barry
1917-2010
Peacefully at home, one day after her 93rd birthday, on June 24th, 2010, Mrs. Ruby B. (Sparks) Barry, wife of Mr. Aubrey R. Barry of Beaver Harbour NB. Born at Beaver Harbour on June 23, 1917, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret (Norman) Sparks. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Aubrey, she is survived by two sons; Wayne (Nancy) Barry of Ottawa ON and Brian Barry of Beaver Harbour, one daughter, Mrs. Anne Lewis of New Maryland NB, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ruby was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by one sister, Lillian, and by three brothers; Neil, Norman and John.
Ruby was a member of the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church for many years where the she was the pianist for 58 years. She loved music, cooking and enjoyed singing. Church and family life where her passion.
By Ruby’s request there will be no visitation. A service will be held at the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church, Beaver Harbour NB, on Monday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Brent Wagstaff officiating, followed by the interment at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. In Ruby’s memory, donations to the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church or the Charlotte County Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Barbara Jane Leavitt
1943-2010
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on October 13, 2010, Mrs. Barbara Jane Leavitt, wife of the late Mr. Mariner B. Leavitt of Beaver Harbour NB. Born at St. Stephen NB on June 5, 1943, she was a daughter of Thelma T. (Maxwell) Cook . A loving mother, daughter, grandmother and sister, she is survived by one daughter, Brenda (Norman) Lambert of Blacks Harbour NB, her mother, Thelma Cook of Blacks Harbour, three grandchildren; Angel Lambert (Conan Graham) of St. Stephen NB, Matthew Lambert and Johnathan Lambert both of Blacks Harbour, five sisters; Rose Marie Mahar of Blacks Harbour, Eunice Scott, Bernice Cook and Judy (Wayne) McGarrigle all of Pennfield NB and Margaret (Steve) Brahm of Ontario, one brother, Dale (Gwenith) Cook of Hatfield Point NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Mariner, she was predeceased by her twin sister, Pamela Palk and a sister, Joan Gardner.
Barbara was a member of the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church and the Beaver Harbour Historical Society. She enjoyed shopping, spending time with her family and talking to her many friends.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church, Blacks Harbour NB on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Brent Wagstaff officiating, followed by the interment at the Leavitt’s Head Cemetery, Back Bay NB. In Barbara’s memory donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Sara Millicent Calder
1917-2010
The death of Sara Millicent (Parks) Calder occurred at Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, NB on October 13, 2010, where she had been a resident for a little over four years. Sara was born and raised in Breadalbane, NB, outside of St. George, NB, to the late Robert and Ethel (Seamans) Parks.
In her late teens she moved to Deer Island, NB, for work in the sardine factory. It was here she met and later married her husband, Earle Douglas Calder. Sara remained at home raising children for several years. While raising her children, she and her husband ran the telephone switchboard for Deer Island from their home. When her children became older, she again went to work in the sardine factory. Family had always been very important and so she again left the factory after a few years to tend to her grandchildren. In addition to her own children and grandchildren, she became “Ma” to many of the neighbourhood children as well. Sara had a strong faith in God. She was the inspiration to her children and family to attend church as she was a Sunday School teacher for many years at the Fairhaven Baptist Church. Her death may end this life, but not the hope she has always had for eternity.
Sara is survived by one son, Douglas Calder of Fairhaven, NB, two daughters: Sharon (Michael) Hartford of Lords Cove, NB, and Jackie (Brian) Mitchell of Fairhaven. She is also survived by grandchildren: Gordon Weatherby of Dorn Ridge, NB, Jill (Norman) Conley and Joey (Mandy) Mitchell both of Deer Island, great grandchildren: Rob Stephen, Timothy Weatherby, Cameron Conley and Mallory and Sawyer Mitchell, one sister, Alberta (Carson) Cooke of L’Etang, NB, sisters in law: Jennie D’Entrement, Mildred Parks, Kathryn McNeill, Barbara McConkey and Edith Calder. She is also survived by a great many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Sara was predeceased by her husband, Earle Calder, newborn son, Earle Douglas Calder, granddaughter, Sara Jane Weatherby, son in law, Glen Hatt, brothers: Robert (Lorena), Douglas (Bertha), Hugh (Wilma), Raymond, Tilley (Mildred) and Hazen (Merle) Parks, as well as sisters: Rose McClure, Ethel (Forrest) Miner, Lila (Randall) Leeman and Lillian (Harold) Calder. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff of the Passamaquoddy Lodge for not only the wonderful care they provided to their mother but for the care and compassion they have shown towards the family during Sara’s final days.
Resting at the Fairhaven Baptist Church, Fairhaven, NB, from where the service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Maurice Hatfield officiating, followed by the interment at the Fairhaven Community Cemetery at Calder’s Head, NB. Following the interment, a reception will be held at the church. Visiting will be held at the church on Friday from 7-9 pm. In Sara’s memory donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Vera Arlene Hawkins
1914-2010
Peacefully at her residence, with her family by her side, on September 14, 2010, Mrs. Vera Arlene (Morse) Hawkins, loving wife of 74 years to Mr. Arnold Seymour Hawkins of Beaver Harbour NB. Born at Tiverton NS on May 28, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Geneva (Outhouse) Morse. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Arnold, she is survived by two sons; Ronald (Audrey) Hawkins of Beaver Harbour and Wayne (Faith) Hawkins of Blacks Harbour NB, three daughters; Belva McIntyre of Beaver Harbour, Anita (Gary) Frye of Quispamsis NB and Violet (Jamie) McKinley of Pennfield NB, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, three sisters; Lena Morehouse of Pennfield, Phyllis Hawkins of Sudbury ON and Flora Zwicker of St. Stephen NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Vera was predeceased by one great grandson, Zachary Acton and by two sisters; Bessie Morse and Mildred Russell.
Vera enjoyed gardening and loved knitting and quilting. She was mostly known for her open house and warm hospitality. She loved her children and family as they were her greatest treasures in life. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and all her loving family.

Waycott Memorial Chapel on Thursday at 11 am with Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating, followed by the interment at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Vera’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
