She will be lovingly remembered by her son Ronald; granddaughter Ronnilyn and her husband Kirk Lovely from Whistler, B.C. She is survived by sister Mary (Elwood) Dean; brothers, Siebert (Elizabeth) Suntjens, Francis Suntjens, Lawrence (Janet) Suntjens and Henry (Donna) Suntjens. ARROL - Ian MacLachlan died peacefully in Victoria, BC, on June 16, 2000, age 76 years. Born in Vanderhoof, BC, on February 20, 1924. Predeceased by his brother Edward (1985) of Calgary, AB. Ian is survived by sisters, Ruth Peleshok of Oshawa, ON, and Elsie Moore of Cannington, ON. He was a radio announcer in the 1940's and 1950's with CFCN in Calgary and CBC in Vancouver. After graduation from the University of BC in 1959 and College of Education in 1960, Ian was a high school teacher in Vancouver, a reporter with the Daily Colonist in Victoria (1964-1966), a high school teacher in Scarborough, ON, the Member of Parliament for York East, ON (1972-1974) and provincially, president of the Don Mills P.C. Constituency Association (1975-1977). Prior to retirement in Victoria in 1986, he was a real estate sales representative in Metro Toronto with Royal Trust and Royal LePage. BLUMENSCHEIN - Shelly Patricia (Patti) born April 26, 1956 in Calgary, Alberta, passed away suddenly on June 16, 2000 in Calgary at the age of 44 years. Patti is survived by her companion Jeff Johnson; mother Edith (Shelly) Blumenschein; brothers, Ron (Moira) Blumenschein and Steve (Pat) Blumenschein. DEDYLUK - Patrick Arthur, born in Drumheller, Alta., passed away peacefully in Calgary on Monday, June 12, 2000. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Debra and Michael; and the many people whom he touched especially Mike Merlo. Pat spent his career working in all aspects of the construction industry. He was known to be a man of many talents, if he could not build it, fix it or did not have the part, the job was often impossible. His kindness and generosity with his time, knowledge and all that he owned has reached many. He is best known for his heart of gold which he has instilled in his children. A short Service will be held at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 1708 - 16 Avenue N.W. on Monday, June 19 at 12:00 noon, followed by Interment in Munson, Alta. FREEMAN - On June 17, 2000, Laura Lee Freeman passed away at her home at Cluny, Alberta at the age of 11 years. FRESO - Christina Elizabeth Freso, born November 2, 1908, passed away June 16, 2000. She is survived by two daughters, Tessie Roberts and Dorothy Freso; son-in-law Osborne Roberts; and son Lloyd Desmond Freso. She was predeceased by her husband Ray Freso, daughters Annie Bovell and Norma Freso and son George Richard Freso. Christina is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and untold relatives whose lives she has touched. MacEWAN - The Honourable Dr. J.W. Grant MacEwan, O.C., LL.D., teacher, author, editor, agriculturalist, livestock judge, horse breeder, columnist, mentor, scholar, lecturer, speaker, alderman, mayor, legislator, lieutenant-governor and above all, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, died peacefully at his home June 15, 2000, aged 97 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Bertha MacEwan, his siblings, George and Agnes, and by his wife of many years, Phyllis Cline MacEwan. He is survived by his only daughter, Heather MacEwan-Foran, his son-in-law Maxwell Foran; his granddaughters, Fiona Foran and Lynwyn Foran-Aebli; his grandsons-in-law, Lee Shedden and Wally Aebli; and his great-grandchildren, Raine Shedden and Kelsey and Alexander Aebli. MacEWEN - Bernice MacEwen passed away at the Agape Hospice on Thursday, June 15, 2000 at the age of 72. Bernice is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Lynne Marr of Calgary and Cynthia Ellen Rosolowski (Henry) of Ste. Anne, Manitoba; her grandchildren, Todd, Bonnie and Shannon Marr and Karla and Tracy Rosolowski. McCLAIN - Kathy (Arkell) died of cancer at the Rosedale Hospice on June 14, 2000, at the age of 57 years. Kathy was born on July 13, 1942, in Dallas, Texas. She will be dearly missed by her children, Rachel, Raphaella, Jonathan, and Ben; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.W. McClain; her two grandchildren, A.J. and Molly; her sister Pat; and brothers, Mike, Bryan and Mark; and her many friends. Kathy faced her illness with dignity and grace. Her continued personal growth was an inspiration to others. All are grateful to the staff at the Rosedale Hospice for their loving care. Cremation by request. MUSGREAVE - Eric Charles Musgreave, died on Friday, June 16, 2000, after an active life of service to his community and province. Eric was born in Condor, Alberta, on July 21, 1921. His formative years were spent in Calgary in the Victoria Park district. After attending Western Canada High School, he served with the RCAF from 1939 to 1945. In 1942 Eric married his wife and lifelong companion Betty. The road they traveled together led them through Newfoundland and to Ottawa, where Eric completed his Bachelor of Commerce at Carleton. Eric and Betty moved to Calgary in 1951. He was employed by Imperial Oil for the next twenty-five years. Eric became involved with the Rosemont Community and served as president of the Centennial Ravine Park Society. Confederation Park was the result and its opening in 1967 was an occasion of great pride for Eric. He was awarded the Jaycee Citizen of the Year for 1967 for his efforts. Eric moved into civic politics as an Alderman from 1967 to 1974 and then into provincial service as the MLA for Calgary McKnight, from 1975 to 1989. Eric was active throughout his life, enjoying gardening, reading, traveling and meeting with The Knights of the Round Table. Above all, Eric enjoyed being with people. Eric will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Eric is survived by his wife Betty; children, Peter (Patty) of Port Perry, Diane (Lawrie Mack), Keith (Deanna) of Calgary, and Neil (Kathy) of Castlegar; four grandchildren, Lara, Leland, Kelsey and Shaylan; and sisters, Irene (Cliff Thomas) and Mary (Donald Nicholson). ROBAK - Mrs. Natalia (Nettie) Robak of Calgary, passed away at the Bethany Care Centre on June 14, 2000, at the age of 90 years. Nettie was born in Buniw, Ukraine, on November 29, 1909, daughter of Stefan Hrynyshyn and Paraska Dyshko and immigrated to Canada in 1927 to Edmonton, residing in Calgary since 1931. Mrs. Robak was a longtime and dedicated member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Parish. She served as President of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League and was active in the Canadian Citizenship Council. Mrs. Robak cared for many, opening her heart and home to those in need. Nettie was predeceased by her son Steve Joseph Harris in April of 1984, Great Falls, Montana, and by her husband Fred on June 12, 2000, Calgary, as well as three sisters in Ukraine and one sister in Canada. Surviving to mourn her passing are her adopted daughter Margaret Renwick (Rodger); her grandchildren, Craig Harris, Sonya Farquhar, Karlyn Renwick; and great-granddaughter Natalia Farquhar; as well as many nieces and nephews in Ukraine and Canada. Panakhyda Service at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 - 6 Street N.E.), on Tuesday, June 20, 2000 at 8:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be held at the Church on Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at 10:00 a.m., Rev.
