Arnold Frederick Pike

1954-2007

Arnold Frederick Pike Arnold F. Pike of Temperance Vale passed away June 30, 2007 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital after a five and a half year battle with cancer. Born at Temperance Vale, NB in 1954, he was a son of Mildred (Turner) Pike and the late James Pike. Arnold was a great husband, dad, papa, son and brother, who will be greatly missed. He loved his family and his farm.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Sheila J. (Trail) Pike; two daughters, Christa LaKing (Nic), Nackawic and Tammy Pike (Adam), Woodstock; his mother of Temperance Vale; two brothers, Dale Pike (Darlene) and James Pike (Bernadette), both of Temperance Vale; three grandchildren, Brandon Pike, Kori LaKing and Orlando LaKing; an uncle, Stanley Turner (Hilda), Newbridge; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother Lorne.

Resting at Flewelling Funeral Hone, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic with visiting hours Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Sunset Church, 429 Clements Drive, Fredericton on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Joe Beesley officiating, assisted by Rev. Richard Bragdon . Interment in Temperance Vale Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Temperance Vale Community Hall.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Gavel, Dwayne Boone, Leon Christie, Robert Sharp, Kevin MacFarlane and Yves Frigault.

Active pallbearers will be Phillip MacFarlane, Waldo Pike, Victor Greer, Joe DesRoches, Renald Robichaud and Elwyn MacFarlane.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Arnold, the family has suggested the Louise Breau Memorial Medical Trust Fund or DECH Palliative Care Unit.

Eileen Myrtle Killam

1943-2007

Eileen Myrtle Killam Eileen M. Killam of Southampton passed away June 7, 2007 at Carleton Memorial Hospital. Born in 1943 at Southampton, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Gladys (Chase) Brooks. Eileen enjoyed her family, especially spending time with Cindy and Jonathan. She also enjoyed singing with Sherman Stairs.

Eileen is survived by one brother, Donald Brooks, Woodstock; one sister, Vivian Dore, Woodstock; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Eileen was predeceased by her husband, Albert E. Killam in 1994; three brothers, Burt Brooks, Tom Brooks and Eugene Brooks and three sisters, Anne Kerr, Yvonne Orser & Eunice Cochran

Resting at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic with visiting hours Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Stephen Hoyt officiating.

Interment in Lenentine Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Paul Brooks, Dennis Brooks, Ron Brooks, Don Tardif, Mike Cochrane and Joseph Sonier.

For those who wish to make donation in memory of Eileen, the family has suggested the Lung Association or the Lenentine Cemetery.

Marion Marie Hachey

1931-2007

Marion M. Hachey of Lake George passed away May 29, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Marion was born at Saint John in 1931, a daughter of the late Bernie and Agnes (Crowley) Donnelly.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Joseph A. Hachey; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Donnelly of Lake George and Evelyn Donnelly of Fredericton; and her birth family, sisters, Dorothy Johnson (Elwood), Saint John and Frances of Ontario and brother, Stanley Davis of Saint John; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marion was predeceased by two brothers, Aubrey and Louis Donnelly and a birth sister, Helen Lord.

Resting at Swan Funeral Home, 1826 Highway 3, Harvey Station with visiting hours Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, French Village on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 10 a.m. by Rev. David Martin. Interment will be later at St. Anne’s Cemetery.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Marion, the family has suggested the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Merlin Erroll Mooers

Merlin Erroll Mooers Merlin E. Mooers of Bear Island, NB passed away August 25, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Bear Island in 1923, Merlin was a son of the late William and Lena (Moore) Mooers. During his working years he was employed at several locations, including the building of the Mactaquac Dam, operating the Parent ferry, Thermofoam Manufacturing, carpentry work and retired from work with NB Power. Merlin enjoyed hunting and was a member and deacon of the Bear Island Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis B. (Hagerman) Mooers; his children, Stephen Mooers (Sherrie), Bear Island, NB, Cheryl Foisy (Ron), Timmins, ON, Stanley Mattatall (Marlene), Bear Island, NB and Charles Mattatall (Sheila), Zealand; his grandchildren, William Mooers (Alicia), Chanchez Mooers (Sterling), André DesRosiers, Daniel DesRosiers, Chantale DesRosiers, Michael Mattatall, Timothy Mattatall (Rebecca) and Christopher Mattatall (Nicole); great grandchildren, Trina, Ashley, Tyson, Jorjah, Dominick, Alex and Aadon; a brother, Waldon Mooers, Temperance Vale, NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Merlin was predeceased by two infant sons.

Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ralph Irving officiating. Interment will be in Bear Island Cemetery.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Merlin, the family has suggested the Bear Island Cemetery or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Michael Mattatall, Timothy Mattatall, Christopher Mattatall, William Mooers, Sherling Shaw and nephew, John Monteith.

Eugene Ludlow Stairs

Eugene Ludlow Stairs Eugene Ludlow Stairs Eugene L. Stairs of Harvey Station, NB passed away September 2, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Millinocket, Maine in 1927, he was a son of the late Ludlow and Alma (Corey) Stairs. For a number of years Eugene was employed with the Department of Transportation and later operated an apartment house in Harvey Station. He enjoyed gardening and attending the basketball games at Harvey High School. Eugene was a member of Cherry Mountain Masonic Lodge and the Harvey Curling Club.

Eugene is survived by two sons, Brent Stairs (Mary) and Dale Stairs (Elva), both of Harvey Station, NB; his grandchildren, Becky Soffee (Joseph), Jeremy Stairs (Jenna Sappier), Jason Stairs, Elicia Stairs (little girl) (Jeremy Coburn), Andrew Stairs (Nicole), Kathy Dewar and Karen Phillips (Jaret); great grandchildren, Ethan and Aydon Stairs, Samuel and Benjamin Phillips, Emma and Livvy Dewar and Nicholas Soffee; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his canine companion, Oscar.

In addition to his parents, Eugene was predeceased by his wife, Lavilla (Grieve) Stairs and a son, Randall Stairs.

Although there will be no visiting hours, family and friends are welcome to attend a funeral service to be held at St. Andrew’s United Church of Canada, Route 3, Harvey Station on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Kay Clowater officiating. Interment will follow in Cherry Mountain Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Orlie MacLean, Kenny Nason, John Chessie and Randy Watson.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Eugene the family has suggested the Harvey High Scholarship Fund or St. Andrew’s United Church.

James Claude Coburn

1926-2008

James Claude Coburn It is with great and deep sadness, the family announces the passing of James Claude Coburn of Harvey, N.B. on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Harvey, NB on January 31, 1926, he was a son of the late Roy and Lila (Little) Coburn.

James is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Berneice (Crowley) Coburn; two daughters, Sherry Johnston (Darren) and Corine Lister (Rob), both of Harvey; two sons, Brian Coburn of Miramichi and Richard Coburn (Cindy) of Abbotsford, B.C.; thirteen grandchildren, Tonya, Kim, Natalie, Melissa, Aaron, Alexis, Wes, Jordan, Matthew, Taylor, Stephen, Breanna and Kyra; a special family member, Kerry; two sisters, Althea Jones and Margaret Wood, both of Harvey; one brother, Guy Coburn (Vi) of Peterbourgh ON; a sister-in-law Betty Coburn of Fredericton; a brother-in-law Raymond Mersereau (Shirley) of Harvey. James will also be missed by several nieces and nephews, cousins and numerous friends.

In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by two infants, Catherine and Kevin; a sister Shirley Mersereau; a brother Arnold Coburn; two brothers-in-law, Wilbur Jones and George Wood.

James was employed with the CPR for 44 years. He also delivered milk from the producers in Harvey to Baxter’s Dairy in Saint John. He provided custodial duties for a number of years at the church. James was a member of Cherry Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 50 for over 58 years.

Visiting hours will be held at St. Andrews United Church, 2350 Route 3, Harvey, on Sunday, September 7 from 2–4 and 7-9 p.m. The Masonic service will be held on Sunday, September 7 at 6:30 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 8 at the church at 3 pm. with Rev. Kay Clowater officiating. Interment will be at the Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Church C.E. Centre.

Pallbearers will be grandson Jordan Coburn, nephews Danny Coburn, Kevin Hurley, Peter Wood, Allison Wood and Edwin Coburn.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial tributes may be made to the St. Andrews United Church Building Fund, Harvey Settlement Cemetery, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are in the care of Swan Funeral Home, Harvey Station, NB.

Sonia Jean Graham

1952-2008

Sonia Jean Graham Sonia J. Graham of Upper Queensbury, NB, wife of Errol A. Graham, passed away September 13, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born at Harvey Station, NB in 1952, she was a daughter of Doris (Brewer) Piercy and the late Eugene Piercy. Sonia was an employee of Scotia Bank in Woodstock where she received several awards for the quality of her work. She was a member of the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and the York Regional Library Board. Sonia was involved with the Nackawic Figure Skating Club, the Terry Fox Run, the Relay For Life and all events taking place in her Upper Queensbury community. She was an adherent of the Nackawic Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband; her children, Heather Green, Fredericton, NB, Virgil Graham (Tracy), Upper Queensbury, NB; Melissa Graham, Ontario; David Graham, Upper Queensbury, NB and Margaret Ann (Maggie) Graham, Fredericton, NB; her grandchildren, Jacob, Alyssa, Logan, Taya, Zachary and Adam; her mother of York Mills, NB; three brothers, Robert Piercy (Cathy), Alberta, Joseph Piercy (Ellen), Miramichi City, NB and Jack Piercy (Sherri), Beaverdam, NB; her father-in-law, Arnold Graham, Upper Queensbury, NB and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her father, Sonia was predeceased by a brother David Piercy and her mother-in-law, Norma Graham.

Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Monday from 7 to 9p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Nackawic Baptist Church, McNair Drive on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Nackawic Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Patti Fawkes, Christy Robichaud, Kerstin Wilson, Afton Piercy, Alyssa Green and Jennifer Brown.

Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Piercy, Jeremy Sharp, Aaron Graham, Jacob Green, John Brown and Adam Chatterton.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Sonia, the family has suggested the Nackawic Cemetery or the MacFarlane family, which was in keeping with Sonia’s wishes and her concern for people in her community.
