Alma Urquhart

The death of Alma Urquhart, age 84, widow of Ralph Urquhart, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Monday, May 6, 2002.

Born in Londonderry, NS, she was a daughter of the Late Jack and Ida (Robar) Gillis. She was a member of the IODE, Shepody Chapter, Dorchester, Past Grand Mistress of True Blue Lodge & a member of the Dorchester United Church

Alma will be sadly missed by her daughter Donna (Bedford) Ward, Westcock, and a son, Donald (Monique) Rutherford, Dieppe, NB, 7 Grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Donna Burke, Sackville and Sheila (Bernie) Bonner, Kingston, ON. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph in 1986, a daughter, Ardith in 1985, a sister, Norma and brothers, Russell, Leonard and Danny.

The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at 2 PM, Rev. Margaret Outerbridge officiating. Burial in the Westcock Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Westcock Cemetery, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.

Beatrice (Bea) Powers

The death of Beatrice (Bea) Powers, age 65, of Malden occurred suddenly at her home on Thursday, May 16, 2002.

Born in Harewood, NB she was a daughter of the Late Kenneth and Florence (Gould) Killam.

Bea will be sadly missed by her husband, Harold Wall, Malden, a daughter, Muriel (Russell Barlow) Ramsay, Summerside, PEI, 2 step-sons, Dale Wall, Bayfield and Wayne (Raymonde) Wall, Cap Pele, a step-daughter, Carol Lee Wall (Owen O'Connor), Lower Coverdale, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Arnold (Bea) Killam, Salisbury, Jim (Joyce) Killam and John (Myrtle) Killam, both of Petitcodiac, 2 sisters Freda (John) Morrow, Moncton and Alta Killam, Petitcodiac. She was predeceased by 2 grandsons, Ian and Justin and a sister Ellen.

The remains have been forwarded for cremation. A memorial service will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 W. Main St., Port Elgin (364-1300) on Monday, May 20, 2002 at 1 PM , Rev. Carolyn Byers officiating. Burial in the Bayfield Cemetery.

Marjorie Snowdon

The death of Marjorie Snowdon, age 72, wife of Rae Snowdon of Brooklyn Road, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Saturday, September 7, 2002 following a lengthy illness.

Born in Brooklyn Road, she was a daughter of the Late Kenneth and Della (Sears) Phinney.

Marjorie was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and long time member of the WMS.

Marjorie will be sadly missed by her husband of 52 years, Rae Snowdon, Midgic, 3 sons, Keith (Beverley), Bible Hill, NS, Rupert (Janice), Moncton and Douglas, Irishtown; 2 daughters, Sandra (Gerry) Ross, Amherst, NS and Sally (Blaine) Bagley, Riverview; 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Ernest (Marilyn) and Vernon (Tammy), both of Midgic; 3 sisters, Bernice Snowden, Midgic, Nellie (Albert) Legere, Jolicure, NB and Reva (Fred) Cook, Sackville.

The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Salem Baptist Church, Sackville on Monday, September 9, 2002 at 2 PM, Pastor Morris Mills officiating. Burial in the Midgic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salem Baptist Church, Cancer Society or charity of the donor's choice.

Doris McEwen

The death of Doris McEwen of Dorchester, age 87, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, May 22, 2002.

Born in Bridgetown, NS, she was a daughter of the Late Wesley and Maude (Sparks) Pickles. She was formerly employed with the Village of Dorchester and was a member of the Dorchester United Church. She was a quilter and Past Regent of the IODE, Shepody Chapter. She assisted her husband during years of farming and general contracting.

Doris will be sadly missed by 2 sons, Lloyd (Evanel), Sydney, NS, Gregory (Linda), Porter's Lake, NS; a daughter, Jean of North Vancouver, BC., and 5 grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Tom Pickles, and a sister, Olive Swaine.

The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Thursday, 7 to 9 pm and Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 25, 2002 at 2 pm Rev. Margaret Outerbridge officiating. Burial in the Dorchester Rural Cemetery. Donations may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke, or the Parkinson's Foundations or a charity of the donor's choice.

Clifford Symes

The death of Clifford Symes, age 87 of Bayfield occurred suddenly on Friday, December 6, 2002 as the result of a traffic accident.

Born in Minudie, NS, he was a son of the late Henry and Aldana (Phillips) Symes.

Prior to his retirement Clifford worked at Furlong's Funeral Home in Amherst, NS. for 28 years . He was a member of Wesley United Church, Bayfield ,and a director of the Bayfield Cemetery. He was a former member of the Silver Pioneers Senior Citizens Club.

Clifford will be sadly missed by his wife Jessie (Stainthorpe) of Bayfield, NB step-daughters Mary (Ernest) Dunlop and Linda (David) Stiles both of Amherst, NS, a sister Vera Gilroy of Amherst and a special friend and nephew Henry, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters Lucy, Margaret, Freda, Mona, Katherine, Lesley and Beatrice and brothers David and George.

The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home in Port Elgin (364-1300) with visiting hours Saturday from 7-9pm and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral service will be held at Wesley United Church in Bayfield at 11 am on Monday, December 9,2002. Burial will take place in the Bayfield Cemetery. Rev. David Wright officiating.

Joseph F. Lucci

The death of Joseph F. Lucci, age 84, of Baie Verte, NB occurred on Wednesday, December 25, 2002 at the Cumberland Regional Health Centre, Amherst, NS

Born in Coburg, NB he was a son of the late Frank and Edith (Goodwin) Lucci He worked for the Dept of Highways for 20 years. A veteran of World War II he served in the 2nd Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment in the Canadian Army in Canada, United Kingdom and Western Europe from 1941 to 1945. He was a member of the Amherst Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Joseph will be sadly missed by his 3 sons, Chris (Cecilia), Amherst, NS, Joe (Sandra), Baie Verte, NB and Allan (Naomi), Dorchester, NB, 1 daughter Debbie Jardine, Moncton, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a special friend, Audrey Chapman, Amherst, NS, 2 brothers, Bill, Amherst, NS and Percy (Nancy), Point de Bute, NB. He was predeceased by his wife Olive in 1998, a son, Ricky, brothers, Harry, Lawrence, Trueman and Sylvester and by a sister Helen.

The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 W Main St., Port Elgin with visitation Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2002 at 2 PM at the funeral home, burial in the Baie Verte Cemetery.

Fred A. Legere

The death of Fred A. Legere, age 87 of Sackville occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Sackville, he was a son of the Late Mac and Edmee (Legere) Legere. Formerly employed at Enterprise Foundry, as a sheet metal worker with 34 years of service. He was a member of the St. Vincent's RC Church, Sackville. A musician, he was a former church organist and band member.

He is survived by his wife the former Rita Legere, Sackville, a daughter, Doreen (Alan) Johnson, Sackville and 2 granddaughters, Karen & Michelle, 3 brothers, Camille, Mass., Lorne (Helen), Sackville and John (Flora), Memramcook , 2 sisters, Phyllis McFee, Sackville and Elise (Tootsie) Landry, Sackville, He was predeceased by a daughter Phyllis in 1996, 3 brothers, Hector, Edward and Roy and 2 sisters, Ina and Mary.

The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, December 27, 2002 at 11 AM at St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church, Sackville, Father Phil Mulligan officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.

Ronald Joseph Folkins

On December 6, 2002, Ronald Joseph Folkins, 87 of Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home and formerly of Dorchester, NB, peacefully and surrounded by love went to his heavenly home.

Born on October 11, 1915 at Pleasant Ridge, NB, he was the son of Ford Casey and Mary Elizabeth (Cook) Folkins. He attended Dorchester United Church.The greatest part of his working life was spent farming and working in the woods. He loved music, playing games, driving and enjoying the country side.

He loved being involved in the lives of his five children, thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and loved sharing stories of his working days with them, which they enjoyed hearing about.

Besides his beloved wife of 58 years, Estella (Carson) Folkins, he will be greatly missed by his children, Ritchie (Alice) and Warren both of Dorchester, Marion and Elsie (Mike) both of Moncton, Lloyd (Donna) of Riverview, thirteen grandchildren and their families, as well as many nieces and nephews and his friends.

The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB with visitation on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 9, 2002 at 3 PM, Rev. Margaret Outerbridge officiating, reception following service. Interment will be at Berwick NB Cemetery. In memory of Ronald, donations to NB Heart & Stroke Foundation, or Friends of the Moncton Hospital would be appreciated.
