GRAY - Lyle Kenneth Malcolm Gray passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on Tuesday, January 9, 2001, a short two months after the passing of Patricia, his loving wife of 46 years. He was born in Maymont, Saskatchewan on November 28, 1922. Lyle will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Lisa (Stuart) Davidson and Erin (Scott) Guyett; his grandchildren, Jason and Jessica Guyett. A Memorial Service will be held at the CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 - 4 Street N.W. HANSON - Melvin John Hanson of High River, born January 4, 1925 at Bells Corners, Ontario, passed away at the Foothills Hospital, Calgary, on January 10, 2001 after a short battle with cancer, at the age of 76 years. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Mary Hanson; his children, Debbie (Royal) Adderson; Sherry (Don) Goodkey, all of Calgary, Stephen (Susie) Hanson, Kanata, ON, Mark (Kim) Hanson, Edmonton and David (Carol) Hanson, Kanata, ON; and by his nine grandchildren, Dallas, Tara, Stephanie, Conner, Matthew, Ashley, Mary, Brittany and Olivia. He is also survived by five sisters, one brother and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, two brothers and his granddaughters, Marlowe and Caitlin. Mel, a World War II veteran, retired to the Town of High River after thirty years with Palm Dairies (Beatrice) in Calgary. He will be dearly missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Benedict's Anglican Church, 213 Macleod Trail, High River on Saturday, January 13 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Jeanne Forte officiating. HENKER - Harold H. Henker of Calgary, passed away suddenly at his residence on Tuesday, January 9, 2001 at the age of 88 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife Ruth on March 28, 1992. Harold was a great humanitarian and a long-time Director on the Calgary Stampede Board and Calgary Junior Football Club. He was a pharmacist, owner and operated many drug stores and pharmacies, most notable being MacLean Drug, McGill Drug and Academy Pharmacy. Harold graduated with the Gold Medal at University of Alberta in Pharmacy. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Warren M. and Ruth Henker of Edmonton; four nieces, Kathleen F. Cummings, Myrna Shapter both of Cochrane, Heather Diggens of Springbank, Susan Henker of Calgary; nephews, John Henker and Steven Henker both of Edmonton, Douglas Henker of Calgary, Terry Henker of Cranbrook, BC, and Pat Henker of Post Falls, Idaho. HILL - Mr. Rowland J. Hill (April 1, 1911 - January 10, 2001) passed away peacefully at Mount Royal Care Centre. He is survived by his two sons, Michael (Rachel) of Calgary and Bryce (Terri) of Pincher Creek; four grandchildren, Monique (Richard) Hinse, Robert (Wendy) Hill, Kevin (Melanie) Hill and Beverley Hill; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of sixty-one years, Arline, and two sisters, Mary Rutherford (Saskatoon) and Helen Holmes (Ottawa). Rolly retired from CIBC after forty-two years of dedicated service throughout Southern Alberta including postings in Claresholm, Lethbridge, Coleman and Calgary. He was a member of the Cairo Masonic Lodge No. 32 Claresholm and in earlier years a member of the Excelsior Glee Club, Central United Church and Grace Presbyterian Church Choirs and Lions Club International. A special thanks to the staff at Mount Royal Care Centre for their excellent care and kindness. Flowers gratefully declined. HOSEGOOD - Dorothy Adelaide (Sissons) died peacefully at home on January 11, 2001. She was born in Barrie, Ontario, February 14, 1904, to Fred and Louisa Sissons. She was predeceased by her loving husband of sixty years, Harvey Hosegood, in 1993, her brothers, Ted, Arthur and Reg Sissons, sister Marion Sissons, and son-in-law Jim Anderson. She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Linda Anderson of Calgary, Mary Lou Hosegood of Didsbury, and Lillian (Ken) Sinclair of Kelowna; by seven grandchildren, Kevin (Christianne) Anderson, Okotoks, Karen (Dave) Cuthbertson, Cranbrook, Jacqueline (Bill) Stoop, Calgary, Randy (Karen) Folkmann, Calgary, Tim (Sheila) Folkmann, North Vancouver, Murray Sinclair, Edmonton, and Lesley Sinclair (Pietro Rizzo), Surrey, B.C.; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Lillian (Patrick) Steen, Kelowna; sisters-in-law, Florence Sissons, Bessie Hosegood; brother-in-law Doug (Millie) Hosegood; and numerous nieces and nephews. LUNDGREN - Lulu Ann Lundgren (nee Erickson), beloved wife of Harold Martin Lundgren of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Tuesday, January 9, 2001, after sustaining injuries in an accident on November 2, 2000, in North Dakota, USA. Born on September 19, 1920, in Ljusdal, Sweden, Lulu, emigrated to Canada from Sweden in 1927 with her parents and sister Martha. She married Harold on February 19, 1949 in Edmonton. Lulu and Harold lived in many places in Western Canada where they made many friends. They lived in Edmonton, Kamloops, BC, Winnipeg, MB, Prince Albert, SK, Saskatoon, SK, and Calgary. Lulu was a member of the Vasa Order of America since May 1937 and while in Calgary, she line danced with the Watergrove Line Dancers. Besides her loving husband, Lulu is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Cym McMurray and two grandsons, Robert and Richard, all of Calgary. She is also survived by a sister Martha Kay of Edmonton. Lulu was predeceased by her parents, Svea Katerina and Lars Erickson. MANDER - Lloyd Blake "Tiny" Mander, passed away suddenly January 11, 2001 at the age of 68 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife and companion of thirty-four years, Carole Mander; their children, Ken Mander (Tammy) and Helene MacFarlane (Rob), all of Calgary; his first wife Margaret Mander of Edmonton, their children, David Mander and Clifford Mander, both of Edmonton, Edward Mander of Toronto, Diana Walker (Darren) of Sherwood Park, George Mander of Vancouver and Gordon Mander (Kerri) of Hay Lakes, AB; and twelve grandchildren. Lloyd is also survived by three brothers, Floyd (Helen) of Bobcaygeon, ON, Bert (Carol) of Victoria and Gary (Janet) of Taber; and many other relatives and friends. Lloyd was predeceased by a daughter Donna, a son Billy, his parents, Walter and Vera and a brother Garth. Lloyd was the proud founder of Mander Scrap Metal. He believed in recycling long before it was popular and worked hard to make the best use of everything. His business was a tribute to his hard work and wise management. He was a quiet man with a wonderful sense of humour. He was very dear to his family and will be deeply missed. Besides his wife Gloria, Earl is survived by one son Kevin McMahon of Calgary; and one daughter and son-in-law, Corinne McMahon and her husband John Kennedy of Calgary. He is also survived by his mother Rose; three brothers, Roy, Floyd, Dennis; and two sisters, Doreen, Thelma. Earl was predeceased by his father Roy McMahon. BOWNESS - Robert Thomas (Bob) Bowness beloved husband and soulmate of Janice Papp, passed away suddenly at the Foothills Hospital on Saturday, April 14, 2001 at the young age of 42 years. He is survived by his parents Ernest and Phyllis Bowness; his sister Virginia (Ian) Goodman; and his nephew and niece, Sean and Bryna, the "apples of his eye". He also leaves to mourn his passing his Godmother, Phyl Cairns of Parksville; and his father and mother-in-law, Alex and Doreen Papp. Bob was born in Calgary on December 23, 1958. He had been employed as a Telecommunications Technician for the past twenty-one years. Bob absolutely loved the outdoors. His winter-time passion was snowmobiling in the mountains. In the summer, one could find him boating every weekend. That was until he and Janice bought their acreage near Cochrane. Bob's focus then turned to building his dream home for Janice and himself.
