Betsy I. Trenholm

January 22, 1908 - October 29, 2002

The death of Betsy I. Trenholm, age 94, of Sackville, formerly of Port Elgin, occurred Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at the Drew Nursing Home.

Born in Port Elgin, she was a daughter of the late Fraser and Amanda (McKay) McGlashing.

She is survived by 2 grandsons: Randy Trenholm, Port Elgin & Jimi (Marlene) Trenholm of Sackville, 3 granddaughters: Debbie (Doug) Gray of Quispamsis, Natalie (Darrell) Munro of Bedford and Janice (Richard) Briggs, Grand Falls, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson. She was predeceased by her husband Monsel, son James, and grandson Greg.

The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB 364-1300 on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, Sackville, NB, on Thursday, October 31, 2002 at 3 PM, Rev. Al Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in the Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin.

Laura Napper

The death of Laura Napper, age 84 of Sackville occurred at the Dr. George DuMont Hospital, Moncton, following a brief illness.

Born in Sackville, she was a daughter of the late Thaddee & Elizabeth (Leger) Richard. A member of St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church, she was also an honorary member of the Sackville Senior Citizen's Club.

Laura will be sadly missed by a son John (Barbara), Sackville, 3 daughters, Doris Hicks, Amherst, NS, Joyce (George) Gilroy, Brookdale, NS and Elizabeth ( Hanford ) Nye, Sackville , 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Eliza (Edmund) LeBlanc, Sackville, Eva Bourque, Scoudouc and Evangeline Ison, Belleville, ON. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1996, a grandson, Georgie in 1997, 2 brothers, Andrew & Robert and a sister, Anna

The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Saturday, 7 to 9 PM and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, January 27, 2003 at 11 am at St. Vincent's Church, Charlotte St., Sackville. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery at a later date.

Fred Downey

The death of Fred Downey, age 72, occurred at the McCall Nursing Home in Toronto, ON on Friday, July 4, 2003.

Born in Shemogue, he was a son of the late Albenie and Beatrice (Duguay) Donelle.

Fred is survived by his three sisters, Geraldine Babineau, Emerise Cullen and Anita Donelle and by three brothers, Alyre (Eva) , Adrice (Vie) and Albany Donelle and by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2003 at 10 am at the St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, Great Shemogue. Arrangements in care of Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin (364-1300). Donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or a donation of the donor's choice.

Bernard "Bernie" Duguay

The death of Bernard "Bernie" Duguay, age 55, of Port Elgin, occurred suddenly at his home on August 8, 2003.

Born in Sackville, he was a son of Jean (Vautour) Duguay, of Port Elgin, and the late William Duguay.

He will be sadly missed by his mother, his sons; Jamie of Kitchener, ON, John and Blair, both of Port Elgin, his daughters; Annette Duguay of Kitchener, ON, and Patty Jacob of Little Cape, NB, brothers; Maurice of Shemogue, Billy (Marie-Mai) of Shemogue, and Larry of Port Elgin, sisters; Nancy Duguay and her daughter Billy Jean, of Port Elgin, Gloria Gallant of Port Elgin, and several nieces and nephews.

The remains have been forwarded for cremation. A time of remembrance was held at the Jones Funeral Home, (364-1300), 3 West Main St., Port Elgin, NB on Sunday, August 10, 2003 from 7 to 9 pm.

Marshall Hamilton

The death of Marshall Hamilton, age 84, of Murray Corner, NB and Welland, ON, occurred at the Moncton City Hospital on Monday, August 11, 2003 following a brief illness.

Born in Lucky Lake SK, he was a son of the late Robert and Jenny (Paddison) Hamilton. After a 40 year career in the mining industry, he retired as Vice President of International Mining Contracting for J.S. Redpath Industries. He travelled the world developing and constructing mines. He was an adherent of the Timber River Pentecostal Church.

Marshall will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen (Spence), Murray Corner, 1 son, George (Susan), St. Louis MO., 3 daughters, Shirley (Winston) Quinlan, Marathon, ON, Norma Jean Allison, Welland, ON and Dorothy (Jim) Swain, Sudbury, ON., a brother James (Jessie), Calgary, AB, a sister, Jean Miller, Calgary, AB., 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Andy and Tom.

The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin with visitation on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Timber River Pentecostal Church on Friday, August 15, 2003 at 2 pm, Pastor Al Leonard officiating. Burial in the Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin.

Ronald Larsen

The death of Ronald Larsen, age 87 of Port Elgin occurred on Thursday, July 10, 2003 at the Cumberland Health Centre, Amherst.

Born in Port Elgin, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Duguay) Larsen. A stationary engineer, he worked at Fred Magee's and then the Port Elgin Regional Memorial School from where he retired with 19 years of service

Ronald will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years Isabel (LeBlanc), Port Elgin, a daughter Margaret (Allen) McGlashing, Melrose, 3 grandchildren, , Shelly, Gail and Michael, 5 great grandchildren, Justin, Adam, Lindsay, Marsha and Presley. One brother, Lawrence, Port Elgin. He was predeceased by a brother George.

The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin (364-1300) with visitation Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 11 am, Rev. Dr. Jamie Gripton officiating. Burial in the Fernwood Cemetery.

James LeBlanc

The death of James LeBlanc, age 63, of Port Elgin, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Saturday, July 26, 2003.

Born in Port Elgin, he was a son of the late William and Yvonne (Brine) LeBlanc. James was a member of the St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, Port Elgin.

James is survived by 5 brothers, Reginald (Wendy), Jack (Doris), Bill (Carol) and Ulysse (May), all of Truro, NS and Thaddee (Linda) of Moncton, a sister, Pauline Lacourse, Ashton, ON. He was predeceased by his wife the former Carol Scott and by a sister Marina.

At the request of the deceased the remains have been forwarded for cremation. There will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be celebrated at the St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, Port Elgin on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at 11 am, all are welcome. Burial will be in the St. Clement's Parish Cemetery followed by a reception at the church hall. Arrangements in care of Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin (364-1300).

Roger Locke

The death of Roger Locke, age 81, of Sackville, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 8, 2003.

Roger was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas in the Canadian Army. He is an honourary member of the Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was formerly employed with the Sackville Armories with 22 years of service prior to retirement.

Roger will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, the former Helen Read, Sackville, sons, David (Linda), Point de Bute, Phillip (Diane), Moncton, Allan (Darlene), Summerside, PE, Gordon (Beth), Moncton, daughters, Marlene and Ruth (Richard) Lirette, both of Sackville, grandchildren, Kelly, Jessica, Rhonda, Tanya, Christopher, Michael, Nancy, Becky, Nick and Trent and one great grandchild, Brayden. He was predeceased by a brother, Rae.

The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville with visitation Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 11, 2003 at 11 am. Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a memorial service at the funeral home Thursday at 7:30 pm. Burial will be in the Sackville Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Main Street Baptist Church, Salem Baptist Church, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.

Glenn (Bill) McEnery

The death of Glenn (Bill) McEnery, age 82, of Sackville occurred at the Moncton Hospital on Friday, July 18, 2003.

Born in McAdam, NB, he was a son of the late James and Judith (Linden) McEnery. Bill was a graduate of UNB in Civil Engineering, and was a retired vice-president of Atlantic Industries, Ltd. He was a life member of the Association of Professional Engineers, New Brunswick. He was a member of the Canadian Aviation Historical Society. At one time he served as councilor on the Sackville Town Council and as chairman of the Town Planning Committee. Bill was a founding member of the Sackville Food Bank and a "Meals on Wheels" volunteer. A veteran of World War II Bill served as navigator with the RCAF in Canada and overseas. He was a member of the Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Bill will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Mary MacDougall, Sackville, a brother, James (Liana) McEnery, San Juan, Puerto Rico and 2 nieces, Judith Arteaga, San Juan , Puerto Rico and Patricia Kane, New Jersey, USA. He was predeceased by his son Colin Glenn in 1991.

The remains have been forwarded for cremation. A memorial service will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 2 pm, Rev. Father Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery. All are invited to a time of visitation on Monday, July 21, 2003 from 7 to 9 pm. The Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Legion Memorial Service at the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 pm.
