It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stephen J. Penton announce his passing at St. Claire’s Mercy Hospital on Thursday, June 5th 2008, aged 60 years. Predeceased by his father, Alan Penton, and infant daughter. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are his girlfriend, Evelyn Kelly; daughters: Tamara, (Troy Manuel) of Grand Falls - Windsor and Tracy of Toronto; son, Matthew McDonald of Grand Falls - Windsor; mother, Anne Penton of Grand Falls - Windsor; sisters: Nellie Cummins (Robert), Anne Evans (Winston), Joan Murphy (Anthony); brothers: Michael (Jackie), Alan (Gloria) and Roger Penton; special friends Dick and Barb Davis, Lionel and Linda Kelland, as well a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 7th, 2008 from 7 -9 p.m. and Sunday June 8th 2008 from 2 -4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Monday, June 9th, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Grand Falls - Windsor with Father Coady officiating. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Grand Falls Windsor. Pallbearers are: (brothers) Michael Penton, Alan Penton, Roger Penton, (brother-in-law) Winston Evans, (uncle) Leonard Penton, (son-in-law)Troy Manuel, (special friends) Lionel Kelland, and Dick Davis. Honorary pallbearers are: brothers-in-law: Robert Cummins and Anthony Murphy. Donations may be made to the Penton Family c/o Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

George Vernon Piercey

Passed away suddenly on November 13, 2007, George Piercey at the age of 66 years. Mr. Piercey was the former Mayor and member of the volunteer Fire Department. Predeceased by his parents Hayward and Janet Piercey. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Jan (Janet); sons: Duane (Tracy) and Barry (Jodie) both of Calgary, AB; daughter Sherri - Lynn (Simon) Hobbs of Buckinghamshire, UK; grandchildren: Claire and Kate Piercey, Max and Lauren Piercey and Taylor, Morgan and Ryleigh Hobbs. Also leaving to mourn sisters: Myrtus (Val) Baker, Louise (Ted) Nash and Maude (Albert) Williams; brothers: Kevin (Christine) Piercey, Harold (Margaret) Piercey, Gerald Piercey and Eric (Mariella) Piercey; mother-in-law May Elliott, brothers-in-law: Jack (Raina) Elliott and Dennis (Mary Ann) Elliott; sisters-in-law Faye (Bruce) Hoffe, Donna Clench and Deborah (Paul) Skeard and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the Millertown Community Church, Millertown on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. R. Cole officiating. Interment at the Milliertown Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Millertown United Church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. He will always be remembered by everyone who knew and loved him.

Predeceased by his parents Gordon and Evelyn Tucker and a brother Lloyd in infancy. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Carrie; sons: Perry (Ruth) of ON, Harris (Lisa) of St. John's, Dwayne (Shannon) and Rod (Monique) both of Fort McMurray; daughters: Elaine (Steve) Hibbs of Charlottetown, Diane (Calvin) Colbourne of Fort McMurray, Claris Tucker (Monique Purdon) of ON, Sandra (Allister) Fudge of Fort McMurray and Maxena (Bob) Piercey of New Brunswick; 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sister Mary of Halifax; brother Roy (Florence) of Triton and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will take place from The Salvation Army Citadel, Triton from where the funeral service will take place on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Major Larry Fudge officiating. Interment at Evergreen Community Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Pallbearers are: Perry Tucker, Rodney Tucker, Monique Purdon, Roy Tucker, Dwayne Tucker and Marcus Colbourne.

Passed peacefully away on January 6, 2008 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center, Michael Power at the age of 72 years. Mr. Power retired from Abitibi Price March 1990 and was a member of CPU Local 88. Predeceased by his parents: Alphonsus and Annie Power, 7 brothers and 3 sisters. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Patricia (Trish); sons: John (Chrisy) of Ontario, Alphonsus (Carol - Ann) and Dennis (Brenda) both of Grand Falls - Windsor; daughters: Anna - Marie (Charlie Wells) of Florida and Rose - Ann (Jake) of Alberta. Also leaving to mourn brother Alphonsus, 7 grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation will take place from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, January 7, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, January 8, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Father David Joy officiating. Cremation to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory maybe made to the Dr. H. Bliss Cancer Clinic Grand Falls - Windsor. Left with fond and loving memories her beloved husband of 60 years, Raymond; children: Judy Durant of Carbonear, Ross (Ruby) Sellars of Grand Falls - Windsor, Joy (Gary) Baker of Harbour Grace; six precious grandchildren: Joanne (Darrell) Mercer, John Durant, Roger (Sonya Piercey) Sellars, Jason Sellars, Kathryn Baker and Kristen Baker.
