She leaves a space in our lives that can never be filled.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the many friends and neighbors who supported her over the years and enabled her to stay in her home to the end. We would also like to thank Dr. Groves and the staff at the Brandon Regional Health Centre and Assiniboine Centre for their thoughtful and tender care.

STEWART: Nicole Stewart (née Campion) passed away suddenly in Shilo, Manitoba on December 16, 2008 at the age of 22 years. Nicole Joy Campion was born on March 19th, 1986 in Brandon, Manitoba to parents, Kelly and Greg. She was a busy little girl and talked very early on in her life to the amazement of all around her. Her early years were spent in Pipestone, Boissevain, Brandon, Cross Lake, Treherne and Souris. She was the first grandchild on both sides of her family and her birth brought "joy" into the Campion and Woods households.
Nicole always took the road less travelled. Her zest for life sometimes got her into some sticky situations but she always learned from her actions and rose up as a stronger and wiser young woman. She attended high school in Souris and graduated from Reston High School in 2004. Her future was bright and she headed into Brandon to university but soon realized that her calling was working with small children. She left university to work in a daycare and she began her training in childcare at A.C.C. She loved her job working with children. Her soft heart and unlimited patience with the little ones was her strength and they in turn, loved her.
In 2006, she met Robert Stewart, "Stewie" and had finally met her soul mate. Together they could conquer the world. True to form, Nicole said to her mom one Friday in April, "Robbie and I are going to get married on Monday." She knew what she wanted and when she decided, there was no changing her mind. A beautiful wedding with the people she loved was held that following Monday. Robbie was her best friend and she always said that she had no doubt in her mind that they would be together forever. They both enjoyed the same sense of humor, games, movies and just being together. After they were married, the two of them moved to Shilo, where she took great pleasure in fixing up their home. When Robbie was deployed to Afghanistan, Nicole held their little family together waiting daily for phone calls and preparing for the day her Robbie would return home safely.
Nicole’s greatest triumph in life was the birth of their sweet daughter, Jordyn Kelly Stewart on November 22, 2006. She had found her ultimate calling and she loved being a mom. She was determined to be the best mom in the world and she was so proud of her little girl. The most important thing to Nicole was to spend time with Jordie and they spent literally hours of every single day singing, playing, reading books, drawing and coloring. In an effort to help Jordie learn, Nicole moved their dining room furniture out to the back shed and created a wonderful playroom. Her theory was, "who needed a table and chairs to eat at when you could play all day and have fun picnicking on the floor!!!" Jordyn is and will always be Nicole’s sweet and wonderful legacy.
Nicole was the most thoughtful person and she remembered everyone’s birthday and the whole family could count on a card with some artwork from Jordyn. She went out of her way to keep in touch with her brothers, Ryan and Daris and her grandparents, to make sure they were always kept up with the family news. Nicole loved her family, and enjoyed reminiscing with home videos and pictures of the past and present. She especially loved the holidays and family celebrations when everyone got together. She was so excited and looked forward to this Christmas because Jordie was old enough to understand how special these times were.
Her favorite places to visit were her family farms and the lake. She was very close to her mom and they spent many days puttering around the farm and this summer camping at Oak Lake. She also would take Jordie out with Grandpa Greg to do chores and see the cows. Nicole was proud of her parents and where she came from. She was a real "country girl" at heart. This summer she spent time with Aunt Heather and Uncle Rob, Derek and Taylor and her cousins Emma and Elise at Denolf’s cabin and travelled to Falcon Lake to spend time with Uncle Mike and Aunt Marcie, Amy, Ben and Katie. Nicole and her constant side-kick, Jordie, were beach bums every chance they got!
Nicole loved a challenge and an adventure so, as well, this summer she and Jordyn bravely set out for Calgary, travelling by train and bus to visit Uncle Dale and Aunt Teri, Emma and Elise. She was exhausted but so happy when they returned home from their trip.
Nicole also took great pleasure in being part of the Stewart family. Although they lived a distance away, she kept in touch regularly with Robbie’s mom and dad, Dan and Sharon, through cards and telephone calls. She was especially happy that Rob, herself and Jordie got to spend time with Rob’s brother Chris and wife Lisa along with nieces, Samantha, Erica and Allyssa and many of Rob’s relatives that came out to wish them well at Christmas last year. She also enjoyed spending time with Robbie’s brother Johnny, whom she considered a close friend as well as a brother.
Nicole knew many friends and her photo albums were filled with fond memories, present and past. She was especially close to her best friend Amy and they shared many laughs and tears together. Later on in Shilo, she made some really special friends in Michelle, Jen and Wendy, taking part in bellydancing, swimming and many, many fun "playdates." She will be lovingly remembered as a caring, warm, generous and funny friend.
Nicole will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her wonderful sense of humor. She was so funny and she could easily find something to laugh at especially if it was something silly she had done herself. She loved the adventure of camping, swimming and being outside during the summer months and tobogganing in the winter. She loved the little things in life and was satisfied and content just to love and be loved.
She had often remarked to family and friends how happy she was and it is a great comfort to her family that in her last years of life she found true love, joy and happiness, things that some people search a lifetime to attain.
She was predeceased by her grandmother, Joy Woods, whom she was very close to as a little girl, as well as her great grandmothers, Reva Campion, Muriel Woods and Vera McDougald and great-grandfather Foster McDougald.
She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband, Robert and baby daughter Jordyn. Her mother and stepfather, Kelly and Reid, her father, Greg and brothers Ryan and Daris, Papa Keith Woods, Grandpa Garth, Grandma Bev Campion and Allan and Gwen Cowieson. She had several aunts and uncles and cousins that she also leaves to mourn her loss including, Mike and Marcie Woods (Amy, Ben and Katie), Dale and Teri Campion (Emma and Elise), Heather and Rob Denolf (Derek and Taylor), Trevor and Sandra Cowieson (Alicia and Kirsten) and Dean Cowieson.
A service of remembrance was held to honor Nicole’s life at the Central United Church on December 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Harvey Hurren of Trinity United Church officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a trust fund set up for Nicole’s daughter, Jordyn, at any R.B.C. Royal Bank, Manitoba location.
