Anthony "Tony" Eichinger
April 19, 1940 - March 16, 2012
EICHINGER – Mr. Anthony “Tony” Joseph Eichinger, 71 years of Cudworth Nursing Home, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012 at his residence. Tony was born on April 19, 1940 on the family farm in the Cudworth district. He was the third child born in a family of 12. As many large families in that era, all the children helped out on the farm. Tony loved that role as a farmer, and continued to farm until his health failed. He ran a mixed farm, but his love was horses. He would do anything for his horses, and they responded to him. In today’s world he could be called a “horse whisper”. He gave them special attention, and would haul feed and water for miles, to make sure they had the best care and food. His barn and yard were open to his horses to feel free, to roam freely around. His horses were a lot like himself, animals with a free spirit! Tony was a man with a free spirit. Before he had health problems, he loved to travel the country side, especially the back roads. There he found peace and serenity. When Tony first started farming he could see that farmers were having a hard time dealing with problems, and he got involved. He travelled to meetings and canvassed to sign up new members, to the Farmers Union. He also helped out with “demonstrations” and “sit ins”, to get the attention of Parliament. He took his farm politics seriously. He was always willing, and if able, to help anyone in need. He always made time to help. Tony’s family was very special to him and he loved spending time with all his siblings, and their families. Tony’s quiet, caring, and generous personality, will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his eight sisters: Theresa Hessdorfer of St. Benedict, Mary Weiman of Saskatoon, Elizabeth (Chris) Molnar of Melfort, Lucy Hagan of Kelowna, BC, Rosanne (Eugene) Schemenauer of Lake Lenore, Josephine Eichinger of Lake Lenore, Lena (Dave) Pawlyshyn of Castlegar, BC and Katherine Harriman of Saskatoon; and three brothers: Lawrence Eichinger of Humboldt, Henry (Beverly) Eichinger of Cochrane, AB and Chris (Ramona) Eichinger of Dalmeny; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Theresa Eichinger; brother-in-law Everard Hessdorfer; sister-in-law Agnes Eichinger; special cousin Joseph Chatlain, and many aunts and uncles. A Prayer Service was held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. Others taking part in the service were: readers Mark Schemenauer and Rosanne Schemenauer and words of remembrance were shared by, Mark Schemenauer. The Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by, Fr. Joseph Ackerman O.S.B. Others taking part in the service were: cross bearer Melissa Eichinger, readers Brendan Weiman and Katherine Harriman, intentions Ian Schemenauer, gift bearers Mary Weiman and Theresa Hessdorfer, music ministry St. Bruno Choir accompanied by organist Annie Moritz, urn bearer Andrew Eichinger and memorial table attendants Arlene Knoblauch, Kathy Weiman, Vanessa Schemenauer and Ramona Eichinger. Both services were held at St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church Bruno. Interment followed at St. Bruno R.C. Cemetery, Bruno. Memorial Donations in Tony’s memory may be directed to St. Bruno R.C. Cemetery

David "Kieth" McDonald
September 6, 1954 - March 9, 2012
The death of Mr. David “Kieth” McDonald, 57 years of Lanigan, occurred on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Pasqua Hospital, Regina. Kieth was born on September 6, 1954 to Fred and Irene (nee Humphrey) McDonald at Kindersley. He grew up at Coleville and attended elementary school there. Later, his family moved to Kindersely where Kieth took his high school education. Following high school, he attended SIAST in Moose Jaw, becoming a journeyman electrician. On September 2, 1978, Kieth married Kathy Klein in Kindersley. Over the next 14 years, they lived in various locations and Kieth worked at a number of different jobs. They moved to their present home in Lanigan in 1992 when Kieth obtained a job at Poundmaker. In 2001, he made a move to PCS, Lanigan Division, where he was still employed. Over the years, Kieth was active in his community as a member of the Lions club, and by serving on the executive of both the golf club and the curling club. Kieth enjoyed camping and loved to play golf. He was a sports enthusiast, watching most sports on TV and cheering on the Lanigan Pirates down at the arena. Kieth and Kathy liked to escape the Saskatchewan winters, taking many warm weather vacations over the years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his two little granddaughters, Morgyn and Layla, held a special place in his heart. Kieth will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 33 years, Kathy McDonald of Lanigan; their two sons and two granddaughters: Ryan (Lynn) McDonald and daughter Morgyn; and Chad McDonald (Kali Bourhis) and daughter Layla, all of Regina; two brothers and one sister and their families: Warren (Carol) McDonald and family Laura and Shawn of Saskatoon; Hilda (Randy) Baraniuk of Martinsville and family Jaime (Wade) Adam and children Grace and Brynn of Fort St. John, BC and Jackie (Jason) Schell and children Payton and Keegan of Wilkie; and Lorne (Paulette) McDonald and son Matt of Chestermere, AB; and by members of the Klein family. Kieth was predeceased by his parents, Fred (2006) and Irene (1982); and two brothers, Leith (in infancy) and Blake (1986). The Funeral Service for Kieth was held on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lanigan Town Hall, officiated by Fr. Paul Paproski, OSB. A private family interment followed in the Lanigan Cemetery. Memorial Donations in Kieth’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Lanigan Relay for Life or the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan. Caroll Prystupa
January 11, 1954 - February 29, 2012
Mrs. Caroll Ann Prystupa (nee Munn), 58 years of Lanigan, SK passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Caroll was born on January 11, 1954 in Winnipeg, MB to Ed and Eileen (nee Wood) Munn. Her family moved to Grosse Isle, MB when Caroll was young and this is where she grew up and attended elementary school. She attended high school in the neighbouring town of Warren, which is where she met her future husband, Ray Prystupa. Caroll and Ray were married on April 25, 1970 and resided in Manitoba for the first 13 years of their marriage. Although she worked at a few jobs over those years, Caroll was mostly kept busy at home caring for their four children. In 1983, Caroll and Ray moved to Lanigan, SK where they have resided ever since. Living in Lanigan, she quickly became involved in her children’s activies. She worked at the Daycare Center in Lanigan for a number of years and then along with her friend Gaye Smith, opened a store called Creative Expressions, which they operated for about 7 years. Caroll then worked at Pro Hardware for about 5 years and had been employed at Drake Meats for the last 12 years. She was a hard working woman, enjoying flowers and gardening and creating a warm and welcoming back yard to share with her family and friends. Caroll was very gifted and could make just about anything with her sewing machine. She loved crafts, making mittens, mukluks and even upholstering a few car interiors over the years. Caroll enjoyed a wonderful trip to Maui with Ray a number of years ago and several “sister trips” including one to Las Vegas. She loved spending time outdoors, camping and cruising in the boat. Her greatest love was her grandchildren and she loved spending time with each of them. Caroll will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 41 years, Ray Prystupa of Lanigan; four children and nine grandchildren: Carrie Prystupa of Winnipeg, MB; Candi (Ken) Jones of Lanigan and children Carson and Tessa; Todd (Janna) Prystupa of Lumsden and children Kailee, Damon, Cassidy, Brady and Kendall; and Melissa Prystupa (Vern Maier) of Muenster and children Harrison and Bennett; her mother, Eileen Munn of Surrey, BC; four sisters: Bonnie (Lanny) Smith of Milk River, AB; Wanda (Andy) Shaw of White Rock, BC; Brenda (Glen) Knight of Buena Vista, SK and Evelyn Munn of Calgary, AB; and by members of the Prystupa family. She was predeceased by her father, Ed Munn; parents-in-law, Tom and Minnie Prystupa; brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Larry Prystupa, Harold Severson and Lynn Langrell. A Celebration of Life for Caroll was held on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lanigan Town Hall, Lanigan, officiated by Mrs. Jenny Irwin. Memorial donations in Caroll’s memory may be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency or Children’s Wish Foundation. Alma Schiman
September 21, 1923 – February 17, 2012
Alma was born on the family farm, northeast of Jansen, in 1923. More than 88 years later, she slipped quietly away from us in Central Parkland Lodge in Lanigan, not more than 20 miles from where she was born. Between the beginning and the ending of her time on earth, she lived a life that was full of joy, sadness, hard work, laughter and much, much love. Alma was the second-youngest of five children born to Emelia and Ludwig Brehm. Like many other families at the time, the Brehms made do with very little. Alma later told stories of how she and her younger brother Emil made toys out of almost nothing… a few sticks or old shoes and lots of imagination. Perhaps partly because of this, Alma’s desire for material things was always modest and throughout her life, she always put the needs of others, especially her family, ahead of her own. Alma was educated at the Prairie Rose Country School, one of many one-room schoolhouses of the day. She loved school but had to leave after Grade 8, in order to care full-time for her ailing mother and run the family household. This eventually began to take a toll on Alma’s own health and so she left home to work at a café, the KD Tearoom, in Regina for several years, her only taste of “big-city” living. In 1947, she came back to marry her childhood sweetheart, Alfred Schiman. The Brehm and Schiman families had been acquainted for many years and during their marriage, Alfred often teased her about having first fallen for her in the chicken coop while playing a game of hide-and-seek as children. Alma and Alfred were married at Zion Lutheran Church in Jansen and settled on the Schiman farm in the Esk District. Alma ran the household, helped with farm chores and in 1948, her childhood dream to become a mother was fulfilled when their first son Ernie was born. Two other children followed - Elaine in 1959 and David in 1961. Alma loved being a mother and this was the main focus of much of her life, but she was also very involved in many church and community activities, especially after the family moved into Jansen in 1956. This included teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, singing in the church choir and coordinating renovations to the Jansen community hall. Alma was an avid reader of books, magazines and newspapers and a dedicated fan of CBC Radio. She was opinionated and unafraid to take a stand alone in the many lively discussions at family gatherings. As her children grew older, she looked for new ways to serve others, and in the 1970s, she became a volunteer caregiver for a neighbour’s disabled child. Haley Adam was a regular visitor in the Schiman home for years and her mother Carey Adam became one of Alma’s dear friends. Alma found a new passion when her grandchildren began to arrive. She spent many weeks each year in Roblin, Moose Jaw and Whitehorse, enjoying and helping to care for her eight grandchildren. She was a big part of all her grandchildren’s lives and helped shape the people they are today. Together with Alfred, Alma travelled extensively throughout North America to visit relatives and places of interest, until she was seriously injured in a highway accident in 1991. She made a remarkable recovery but after that made the decision to travel only to see her children and grandchildren. She was a strong and active woman right into her early 80s, when cancer necessitated several surgeries in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Then, after a fall in 2010, Alma went to live at Central Parkland Lodge, where she was able to rest more and be cared for. The transition was not an easy one for someone as independent and feisty as Alma but over time, she adjusted and developed strong relationships and appreciation for the staff who cared for her during her last two years. Alma was pre-deceased by her parents, sisters Bertha and Minnie and brother Julius. She leaves behind a loving family who will miss her always and carry her memory closely in their hearts: husband Alfred Schiman of Lanigan, son Ernie and wife Donna of Roblin, granddaughter Tara, husband Kevin and their son Kyler of Calgary, grandson Corey of Calgary, daughter Elaine and husband Greg, grandsons Ryan, Bram and Sean of Whitehorse, son David and wife Janice of Martensville, granddaughters Nicole of Calgary, Rebecca and Kimberly of Martensville, brother Emil Brehm of Saskatoon, as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins. At Alma’s request, her family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
Sr. Margaret Prediger, OSE
October 15, 1914 - May 4, 2012
Fortified by the sacraments and prayer, Sr. Margaret Marie answered the call to enter into death to gain eternal life on May 4, 2012 in her home at Samaritan Place, Saskatoon. Margaret Prediger was born October 15, 1914 on a farm 8 miles south of Macklin, Sask. to Maria (Schroh) and Alexander Prediger. At the time of her mother’s death she had five brothers and three sisters. This family grew from nine to 17 after her father married Frances Weinmeyer. Because of the frequent illness of her mother, Margaret got to know the Sisters of St. Elizabeth in St. Joseph’s Hospital as a young child and attributes her vocation to her mother’s prayers that her “Maggie” would one day also be a Sister of St. Elizabeth. Her father, however, had some reservations when Margaret requested to join the Sisters. As a Candidate with the Sisters of St. Elizabeth in Humboldt, SK in 1928 Margaret first completed her high school with extra courses in office management before entering a two year period of novitiate where she received the name Sr. Mary Eleonore, which she changed back to Margaret later. She made her profession of temporary vows in 1934 and perpetual profession of vows in 1937. In 2009 she celebrated her 75th anniversary of religious profession. From 1938 to 1987 Sr. Margaret Marie served as supervisor of the general business office at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Humboldt and St. Joseph’s Hospital, Macklin, SK and as administrator of Holy Infant Hospital, Hoven, South Dakota and St. Michael’s Hospital Cudworth, SK. During this time she also served on the general council and as general secretary of the Sisters of St. Elizabeth and broadened her professional skills through further training in Ottawa, the University of Manitoba, the University of Regina in SK and at the Alberta Vocational School in Edmonton. Religious training continued as well with correspondence courses in Christian Doctrine, catechetics, Scripture and liturgy. From 1987-1988 she took a sabbatical by attending Newman Theological College in Edmonton and another sabbatical year in 1994 at the retreat centre with the Faithful Companions of Jesus in Calgary, AB. Since 1995 she has been retired at St. Elizabeth Convent where she continued to serve wherever she could until her confinement to the infirmary. Sr. Margaret Marie is lovingly remembered by her Sisters in Community, her sister-in-law Lydia Prediger of Ponoka, AB and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Maria (Schroh) and Alexander Prediger; her step-mother, Frances (Weinmeyer); sisters Amelia Stang, Annie Stang and Mary Reinhold; brothers Alex, Joseph, Solomon, Jack and Michael; step sisters Frances Weinmeyer, Mary Hollman, Annie Rost, Barbara Weinmeyer, Agatha Vogel, and Elizabeth Herlein; step brothers Thomas Weinmeyer, and George Weinmeyer; sisters-in-law Ida, Florence and Eily; brothers-in-law Reinhold Stang and Alec Stang; step sister-in-law Drew Stang; step brothers-in-law Mike Hollman, Anton Brost, Reinhold Weinkauf, Albert Vogel and Joseph Herlein. The Funeral Mass for Sr. Margaret was held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. concelebrated by Abbot Peter Novecoksy, OSB, Fr. Emil April, Fr. Bill Stang, Fr. Daniel Muyres, OSB and Fr. Bernard Stauber. Others taking part in the mass were: crossbearer, Sr. Louise Krupka, OSE; scripture readers, Sr. Philomena Dobmeier, OSE and Sr. Frances Schnurr, OSE; prayers of the faithful, Sr. Viola Bens, OSE; and gift bearers, Sr. Helen Kirchner, OSE and Sr. Clarissa Winters, OSE. Pallbearers were John Prediger, Rudy Prediger, Alex Prediger, George Eberl, Peter Eberl and Nick Schweighardt. Interment followed in the Sisters of St. Elizabeth Cemetery. Dale Buschmann
January 11, 1962 - May 1, 2012
The family is very saddened to announce the premature death of Mr. Dale Buschmann 50 years of Humboldt on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Humboldt District Hospital. Dale was born on January 11, 1962 the youngest child of Arthur and Hedy (nee Bernhard) Buschmann in Humboldt. He obtained all of his education at Muenster School. He later received his Journeyman Electrical Certificate. He was always very proud of his accomplishments and always was know for his great work and attention to detail. The role of a father was very special to Dale, he was always very proud of his two daughters and their accomplishments. He spent as much time as possible with them gaining a memorable relationship. Dale moved to BC and obtained employment. This is where he met the love of his life Stephanie Bathurst. From the moment they met they were inseparable, enjoying every minute they could spend together. On October 27, 2007 they were married in Humboldt surrounded by their family. They moved to Saskatoon to be closer to his family. He worked for Danrich Controls. Dale was very excited to move back home to Humboldt and be there for his mother. In September 2011 Dale and Stephanie moved home. He was very content and happy to be here and help his mother. Dale loved people and loved to laugh, when he entered a room laughter filled the room. He spent time fishing with friends, water skiing on many lakes in and near Kelowna, BC. He had an amazing love for music of all kinds, but Nickelback was his #1 favourite. In fact he was planning to take guitar lessons this year with the guitar Stephanie gave him for Christmas. Dale and Stephanie were a great couple she loved to cook and he absolutely loved her tasty creations. There was one other love he shared and that was for his cat “Cosmo”! In February 2012 Dale became ill and has been hospitalized until present. Dale will always be remembered by the three “L’s” “Live Laugh Love” as he did all of them to excess. Dale’s wonderful laughter will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Stephanie of Humboldt; daughters: Krista (Darcy) and Kaylen, all of Airdrie, AB; mother Hedy of Humboldt; brother Jim (Eileen) and family, Jerri (Kenton) and Jacki (Sean), all of Red Deer, AB and sister Linda (Larry) of Saskatoon and Tricia (Liam) of Toronto. Dale has been predeceased by his father Arthur Buschmann. A Private Family Celebration of Life was held at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, officiated by Jenny Irwin. Interment followed at Humboldt Public Cemetery. Memorial donations in Dale’s memory may be directed to Humboldt & District SPCA. Simon Boulay-Boivin
August 11, 1946 - April 19, 2012
Simon Boulay-Boivin left this world on April 19, joining his mother Gemma and friends Roman and Colette. Simon’s heart extended to his family and friends, including his companion of 20 years, Renée, many long time friends, Wilfrid, Gilles, Bertrand, Steve, Leesa, father Jean-Baptiste, siblings Jocelyne (Réal), Denise (Claude), Nicole (Pierre), Hélène and André, and all of us whose lives he has touched in a special way. Simon’s early career in broadcasting then led him to oral history projects with various communities before his retirement in St. Benedict, where he lived the life of solitude (closely tied to his telephone) he had always dreamed of. Gifted in speech and communication, he entertained us all with humorous anecdotes of his life experiences and travels as he read deeply in people’s hearts. Simon, we thank you for sharing your life with us all and believe you are evermore present in us. On t’aime. The Prayer Service for Simon was held on Monday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. presided by Allen Baumann and Shirley Altrogge. The Mass of Resurrection was held on Tuesday, April 24 at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Bishop Don Bolen, Fr. Don Hamel, Fr. Denis Phaneuf and Fr. Richard Meidl, OSB. Both services were held at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, St. Benedict. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
