BRENNAN, BERNARD
Dated: 06/15/2006
BRENNAN BERNARD (BERNIE) - Say not in grief he is no more, but live in thankfulness that he was. Encircled by love, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Bernie Brennan on June 13th, 2006 at the All Nations Healing Hospital in Fort Qu'Appelle, SK. Bernie was predeceased by his brother Edward (Tuffy) Brennan, brother-in-law Bert Anderson, sisters-in-law Muriel Brennan and Rita Anderson. Bernie will be eternally missed by his loving wife and soulmate of 54 years, Georgena; his beloved children, son Darcy (Laurie) Brennan, and daughter Charmaine (Bob) Gibson. Also left to cherish his memory are his very precious grandchildren, Amy and Melissa Brennan, Lysa (Brock) Porth and Kyle Gibson. He will be deeply missed by his sister Joan (Vern) Brown, his brother Roy Brennan, sister-in-law Angela (Roy) McCune, brother-in-law David Anderson, sister-inlaw Alma Anderson; many nieces and nephews, and friends too numerous to mention. Bernie was born August 12th, 1924 in Regina, SK to Franklin and Nora Brennan. At the tender age of 18, he served overseas with the RCAF in WWII. Upon returning from the war, he worked for Brown's Auctioneers, and later established his career at Case Power and Equipment, where he worked as the Part's Manager for 36 memorable years. Seeking the solace and serenity offered by country life, Bernie and Georgena called White City their home for 30 years. In 1998, they retired to the beautiful Qu'Appelle valley at Katepwa Beach, where at the age of 74, he built his `retirement home' with his own hands and help from friends and family. Known throughout the valley for their yard overflowing with flowers of every color, ponds, gardens and generous hospitality, there was always a constant influx of visitors. He was also known as the local caretaker and handyman at Katepwa.Grandpa had unconditional love and support for his family and friends. He was never too busy to lend a helping hand and was always the first to make you believe that every idea was a good one. His passion and loyalty to friends was readily apparent to both new and old. Most of all however, Grandpa was filled with enormous pride for his family who could accomplish anything in his mind, and even the smallest feat warranted the largest brag! Grandpa's one of a kind wit and humor and famous sayings like "Mrs. Who? " instead of pardon, "Funny Face " and "Whiskers " will forever be apart of our vocabulary. He has left an imprint so unique and profound that each of us will be forever changed. "For you see, each day I love you more, today more than yesterday but less than tomorrow. " Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Peter Saunders and nursing staff at the All Nations Healing Hospital in Fort Qu'Appelle. Also to his many friends and neighbors for all their support. At Grandpa's request, there will be no formal service. A private family internment will take place at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the All Nations Healing Hospital, Box 300, Fort Qu'Appelle, SK, S0G 1S0 would be greatly appreciated.
