NELSON - Laurel Dwight passed away on September 25, 2003. He was born on April 14, 1922 in the Village of Wilcox, Saskatchewan to parents Bertha and Arthur Nelson. He received his elementary and high school education at the Wilcox Public School and his university education at the U of S in Saskatoon. He served in the RCAF during WWII in England for five years as an aero mechanic and on his return from duty he attended University. Following his education, he took up farming in the Wilcox area with Rita G. (his bride of 56 years). Together they raised three children: Denyse, Dwight, and Perry. Laurel's passion was digging. He always enjoyed helping install water systems for a great number of farms in his and surrounding communities, and in the process, made countless friends. Laurel led by example and was always ready to ham it up at any social function. A greater husband and father would be hard to find and he was a true friend to all those that had the honor of knowing him. Laurel retired from farming in 1995 and moved to Regina in July of 1999. He was a good athlete and enjoyed music, swimming, curling, fishing and many other sports. Laurel was a very gentle and loving person and was greatly admired and loved by his wife and family. He was predeceased by his loving wife Rita; brother George; sister Merle; and nephew Kevin. Laurel is survived by his children: Denyse, Dwight (Rhonda) and Perry (Luanne); grandchildren: Kelly, Joe, Anders, Jessica, Taylor, Summer, Dakota and Logan; brother Corwin (Arline); sister Evelyn; sister-inlaw Isabella; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at the Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial tributes may be made in Laurel's memory to the Alzheimer Association of Saskatchewan, 301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2R3. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the community of Wilcox, the Doctors and staff of Parkside Extendicare and the Wascana Hospital Veterans Wing. BICKNELL, AGNES - passed away peacefully Sunday, September 28, 2003 in Kelowna General Hospital following a heart attack. A long time resident of Regina, Agnes moved to Kelowna a year ago to be with her family. She was predeceased by her husband Orv, brothers George and Moir, her parents, sister in law Thelma and brother in law Russ. Her son Doug and his wife Yvonne Pinder, Yvonne's children and grandchildren, her sister Jessie Wallace, nieces Janet and Jackie and nephew Graham and Blair and their families, survive Agnes. Her family and friends will cherish their memories of a quiet, dignified lady who provided support and encouragement for everyone she knew. A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, October fourth, at one p.m. at Speers Funeral Chapel 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK. He leaves his wife, Sharon, and son, Joe, of Moose Jaw, daughter Faye and son-in-law Stephen Craig, brother, Emile (Frances), of Taber, Alberta, sister, Blanche (Jim) Klovansky, of Davidson, Saskatchewan; brothers-in-law; Wayne Hunstad of Weyburn, Saskatchewan and Gordon Hunstad (Rita) of Calgary, Alberta, sisters-in-law: Shirley Wallin of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Dolores (Ron) Toso, of Okotoks, Alberta and Linda (Terry) Lahure, of Calgary, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many good friends. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd. Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw. Reverend Father Gerry Bauche will preside. An Evening Prayer Service will be held Friday, October 3, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at the W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Moose Jaw. CAMPBELL - Monday, September 29, 2003 It is with great sorrow the family of Elizabeth (Betty) Campbell (nee Bey) announces the completion of her life here on earth. With great joy we celebrate the beginning of her new life in the arms of our Lord. Gone ahead to prepare a place for her are her dad, Ted (1963); her mom, Isabel (2001); and her second husband Keith (1997). Waiting until we join her are Valli Johnson, her daughter; Randy and Donna Johnson, her son and daughter-in-law; Kelsey, Lindsey and Joshua, her grandchildren; Harold and Edna Bey, her brother and sister-in-law; Linda (Tom) Latcham, Wendy Benson and Cathy (Eric) Lorenz, her nieces; Verna (Elgin) Karpyk, Bill Barber and Ethel Petras, her cousins; and many more great friends and relatives. Betty was born and raised in Hazel Dell, SK. She completed her nurses' training in Yorkton, SK and upon completion of her RN worked in Yorkton. After she was married she moved to Regina, raised her family and worked at the Grey Nun's (Pasqua) and General Hospitals and later for the Dept. of Health. She enjoyed a long retirement, wintering in Arizona with Keith, and after his passing, volunteering at the Red Cross and Wascana Hospital, holidaying in Mexico, St. Lucia, Hawaii and the Mediterranean with friends and family, dancing, golf, lawn bowling and making crafts. We miss you. We thank God for the gift He gave us in you and we know we are only waiting until it is our time to join you. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue with Rev. Lori Erhardt officiating. Interment in Yorkton City Cemetery at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. DROPE - Wallace (Wally) Earle Drope, age 88 years, of Moose Jaw, passed away on September 23, 2003. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at Parkview Funeral Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St. W., Moose Jaw, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. John Gardner of St. Aidan Anglican Church, Moose Jaw will officiate and interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. Wally was born near Avonlea and grew up on the family farm. In 1960, he purchased his own farm two miles south of Moose Jaw. Many happy years were spent travelling with his beloved wife Josephine. Wally's two greatest passions in his life were his family and his farm. He will be sadly missed. Wally was predeceased by his wife Josephine; sisters: Marion, Marjorie and Irene; brothers: Allan, Harold and Barton. He is survived by his step-children: Vincent (Florence) Dewing and Muriel (Bob) Towriss; step-grandchildren: Farrell, Warren, Melissa, Robert and Nelson; brother Tom (Marjorie) Drope; sister Doris Hunt; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a dear friend Ethel Ingalls. As part of the Living Legacy Planting Program, Parkview Funeral Chapel will have a tree planted in Wakamow Valley in Wally's memory. Flowers are gratefully declined. Predeceased by her father Martin (1966); mother Philippine (1981); brothers, Roy (1985), Martin (1998) and John (2003); sisters, Frieda Nightingale (1978) and Lorraine Carkner (1996); brothers-in-law, David Hamel (1997), Ken Ingles (1995) and Clifford Nightingale (1979); one sister and four brothers in infancy, Erna is survived by her sisters, Katie (Heinz) Roloff, Carol Hamel, Phyllis (Doug) Severt and Martha Ingles, and sisters-in-law, Shirley Scherle and Sylvia Wales, all of Regina; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
