Gattinger, Kimberly,
Dated: 02/17/2004
Neudorf, SK
GATTINGER, KIMBERLY DAWN - Kimberly was born on a bright, blessed Monday, July 6, 1981 in Winnipeg, MB. She was tragically swept from this earth on January 9, 2004 at 22 years of age. Kimberly was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church in Neudorf on August 30, 1981. The same Church saw her confirmed, along with her sister Tanya, on May 26, 1996. Kimberly began her education in 1986 at Neudorf School, where she attended until grade 6. After that she went to North Valley High in Lemberg, Sask. During her high school years, she taught Sunday School and sang in the junior choir. She also could be found at the local skating rink, teaching the children or taking lessons of her own. Kimberly spent a lot of time babysitting kids (especially the Hollingers) or driving Lucy Schramm on her weekly outings to Melville. Kimberly acted in a few school plays put on by the drama club. She was always busy doing something. Kimberly graduated from high school on June 27, 1999. She received her acceptance letter from Minot State University and began working on earning her degrees in elementary education and special education. She was to receive both degrees in May of 2004. Being self sufficient she found employment at the local tavern, The Icebox, and at the Minot Vocational Workshop. It was on her first day of work at the workshop that she also decided that she wanted her Special education degree because her heart was so full! She really did love these people, and poured out her love and affection upon them. She worked tirelessly at these jobs but always found the time for pitching at softball games, shuffleboard, pool and dart leagues. When time permitted she entertained herself with all her new found friends or getting the next party rolling. Everyone was affected by Kimberly's personality. That certainly was proven and demonstrated the day of her funeral. The love and support that we have received was overwhelming. This happened due to the fact, that Kimberly had such an impact on us with her outgoing, bubbly and warm personality. She loved everyone. She loved life. The Lord Blessed us with someone that touched our hearts and minds forever, and for that we are eternally grateful. She came as quickly as a ray of sunshine, but now our Angel has left us, an eternal light that shines forever in Heaven. Kimberly is survived by her loving parents, Rodney and Laurell Gattinger of Neudorf, Sask.; her brother, Curtis of Strathmore, AB; her sister, Tanya of Estevan, Sask.; her grandparents, Harry and Nora Gattinger of Neudorf, Sask. and Alfred and Lily Keller of Melville, Sask. as well as many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Christ Lutheran Church, Neudorf with the Rev. Vivian Roberts officiating. The musicians, Elfiede Piller and Barbara Waldbauer, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns. Seek Ye First, For Those Tears I Died, On Eagle's Wings, This Little Light of Mine, I Was There To Hear Your Borning Cry, Soon and Very Soon, and Shine Jesus Shine. The choir, directed by Barbara Waldbauer and accompanied by Tamara Maurer, sang as their anthems, Take Now My Voice, and Joy Returns in the Morning. Julie Eisler and Ian Waldbauer sang, Candle in the Wind. Kimberly's grandfather, Alfred Keller, read a poem written by Kimberly entitled, Me and her sister, Tanya, shared memories of Kimberly. All who knew and loved Kimberly were considered honorary pallbearers. Interment followed in Christ Lutheran Cemetery with Josh Somppi, Ian Waldbauer, Julie Eisler, Marilyn Hoehn, Ryan Michael and Derek Keller as pallbearers. The benediction, Go Now in Peace was sung graveside. Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville, SK. A memorial was held at Minot State University on January 20, 2004 with Pastor Vivian Roberts leading the service. A benefit was also held in honour of her at The Icebox on January 31, 2004 in Minot, North Dakota. This Is Not Goodbye This is not goodbye It is just so long for a while As we go on our way In our hearts all memories will stay This is not the end I'm sure we'll meet again. Days together went fast In our hearts all memories will last So long, farewell 'Til we meet again. May your dreams come true In everything you do Keep your head up high Looking towards the sky. This is not goodbye forever.
