THURMEIER - JOHN LEO, Southey, SK., passed away peacefully on December 7th, 2003 at Parkside Extendicare at the age of 94. John was predeceased by his parents, Amalia and Jacob Thurmeier; his wife of 52 years, Joan; brothers: Fernie, Karl, Jake and Sigmond; and sisters, Mary and Emily. He leaves to mourn, his son, James; daughter-in-law, Bonnie; grandchildren: Ryan, Reena, Randa and Raelene; sisters, Anne (Joe) Geenen and Margaret Angelstad; brother, Frank (Catherine) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. John was born March 31st, 1909 in Southey, Sask., attended school in Bourneville and Campion College and married the girl next door. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved farming, playing cards or shooting pool with friends. He loved life, was a long standing member of the church and the Knights of Columbus. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 13th, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in St. James R.C. Church, Southey, SK with Rev. G. Lindenbach, Celebrant. Interment to follow in the Southey R.C. Cemetery. Prayers will be held on Friday, December 12th, 2003 at 5:30 p.m. in the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St., Regina, SK S4P 2R3. Arrangements entrusted to VICTORIA AVENUE FUNERAL HOME 761-2727

TOPOLA, NICK - Of Assiniboia, Sask., passed away December 8, 2003 at the age of 90 years. Predeceased by his parents George and Lena Topola; one brother Alex; sisters Katie Yorga, Mary Lengert, Violet Costache, Dorothy Waslenko and son-in-law Edgar Boyle, Nick is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruby; two daughters Eileen Boyle and children Bryce, Darby and Ryley of Preeceville, Sask., Marilyn (Murray) Sjogren and children Matthew, Melissa and Michelle of Calgary, Alta., one sister Annie Cozak of Assiniboia as well as numerous nieces and nephews. PRAYER SERVICE will be held at the Descent of the Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, Assiniboia, Sask., Thursday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at the Descent of The Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, Friday, Dec. 12 at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Daniel Nenson officiating. Interment to follow at Elm Springs Cemetery. Donations in memory of Nick can be made to the Canadian Diabetes. Assoc., Assiniboia Chapter of the Kidney Foundation. BLASHILL, FRANCIS ERWIN - June 21, 1927 to December 8, 2003. Predeceased by his parents, Percy Francis Blashill and Esther Margaret McPeek; brother Kenny in infancy and his beloved brother and best friend, George in 1965 with whom he has now been reunited. He leaves to mourn his first wife Geneva and their children Carl (Laurie), Louise (Brian) Krienke, Wayne (Sheila), Ronnie (Kathy), Donna (Leonard) Martin; his second wife Barbara; his step children: Claire (Bill), Linda, Shelly, Jay (Lydia), Wendy (Don), Sherry (Trevor), Tammy (Dave); as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Frank was very well loved by his family and friends. He had a unique sense of humour and caring attitude about life and all those around him. He loved his family, friends, life, trains, stamps and watches. He loved to collect everything  to him everything and everybody was valuable and to be treasured. He worked hard every day of his life and for many years with the Regina Board of Education. He fought the good fight, especially over the past three years of his ailing health. But always he stayed true to who he was. His sense of humour, wisdom and kind, thoughtful words will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue. Arrangements in care of Speers Funeral Chapel and Crematorium Services. MCLANE - HAROLD EDWARD of Regina passed away suddenly on February 15, 2004 at the age of 75. Harold was predeceased by his daughter, Sylvia; his parents, Alpha and Elizabeth; and five brothers, Clayton, John, Glen, Doug and Virgil. Harold is survived by his loving wife Helen of 45 years; daughter, Bernadette; son-in-law, Ken Bourassa and his sons, Christopher (Joanna and Stephan), Shane, Robin (Nicole), Daniel and Aaron; son Alan (Claudette) and their children, Mary, Samantha and Dyllan; son, Kevin (Lisa) and their children, Janessa and Emily; son, Darcy; and sister, Eileen Anhorn; as well as numerous other family members. Harold was a long-time employee with the City of Regina. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards, camping with his family, and spending time with his children and numerous grandchildren. Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 2360 2nd Ave., Regina, SK S4R 1A6 or the Diabetes. MCPHERSON, GEORGE ARTHUR - Born February 13, 1915 in Rouleau, Sask. Died January 24, 2004 in Richmond, B.C. Predeceased by his wife, Isabel (January 24, 1993) his sisters, Beth and Ruth; his brothers Dick and Walter. Survived by his sister, Joyce Ellis (Surrey, B.C.); his son Jerry (Diane) of Salmon Arm, B.C., grandchildren Trevor, Shannon (Solo), & Ryan, great grandchildren Perry, Tyson, and Esita; his son Ted (Regina, Saskatchewan); his special niece and nephew, Mary and Gordon McCulligh (Richmond, B.C.) his long time friend, Pete Murray, and many nieces, nephews, and friends throughout western Canada. George worked as a carpenter throughout his life. He loved to fish, tell stories, paint in oil, and watch westerns. He and his dry humour will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial service was held in Burnaby, B.C., Friday, January 30, 2004. Cremation services provided by Personal Alternative Services.

SWINTON, T. EARLE - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Earle Swinton on February 14, 2004, at 74 years of age. Earle was born in Regina and raised in Montmartre, SK, where he attended the Alpha Rural School and the Montmartre Public School. Following graduation from Luther College in Regina, Earle returned to the family farm for a few years before taking a job with Beaver Lumber and later with the Canadian Mental Health Association. In 1961, he joined the Canadian Petroleum Association (CPA), eventually becoming Public Affairs Director of the Saskatchewan Division, a position he held until his retirement in 1990. An extremely sociable man, Earle was known for his open and generous nature and his engaging sense of humour. Throughout his adult life Earle was actively involved in several professional, community, and charitable organizations, including the Saskatchewan Jaycees, the Canadian Public Relations Society, the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association, Alcoholics Anonymous, and others. Earle is predeceased by his parents, Russell and Nana; brothers, Gordon and Ross; sister-in-law Gwen; and by his sister, Doris. He leaves to mourn Anne, his wife of forty years; his sons, Douglas and Keith; his daughter-in-law, Audra; and two grandchildren, James and Hannah. He will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews, dear relatives, and close friends whose company Earle treasured. He will also be fondly remembered by the many people whose lives he touched throughout his numerous travels around the province with the CPA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, at 4:00 p.m. at Knox-Metropolitan United Church, 2340 Victoria Avenue, Regina, where Earle was a long-time member, recognized for his considerable and distinguished service. Rev. Dr. Robert A. Kitchen officiating. Donations to the `Organ Fund' of Knox Metropolitan United Church, in memory of Earle, are gratefully accepted in lieu of flowers. Arrangements in care of Speers Funeral Chapel and Crematorium Services.

ALLISON MARGARET UPCOTT - It is with deep sadness that we announce the accidental death of Allison Margaret Upcott on February 13th, 2004 near Pangman, Saskatchewan. Allison was born on February 10, 1982 at Indian Head, Sk. She is survived by her loving partner and best friend Curtis Shiels and by their beautiful daughter Kelsey. Also missed and lovingly remembered by her mother Betty Upcott (Les Murray) of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, and her father Terry Upcott of Inuvik, N.W.T. Sisters: Alida (Jeremy) Gigian of Fort Qu"Appelle, Sk. and RandiLynn (Ken Schindel) Upcott of Meadow Lake, Sk; and her brothers Richard Upcott and David Rekiel, both of Meadow Lake, Sk. Allison will be remembered by her maternal grandparents Cecil and Elsie Birtles of Saskatoon. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Alida Upcott (Hopman) on March 17, 1959 and Richard E.O. Upcott on May 17, 1985, both of Fort Qu'Appelle, Sk. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2004 in St. Andrew's United Church, Fort Qu'Appelle, Sk. with Reverend Sylvia Thompson officiating. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to a Trust Fund for Kelsey June Shiels (envelopes at the church), or to a charity of one's choice.
